Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

Oh my god, I beat the FF2 mote dungeon. Celes was definitely the MVP with her Runic.

I didn't master it though. Let me try again to see if I can do it this time.

Edit: I actually did it this time! I mastered a ??? boss! So many 4* motes! ^^
Too bad Runic doesn't work so well against most 180 and other ??? bosses, though.

Edit2: I immediately made Celes capable of using 4* White Magic, because being able to bring Protectga or Shellga should be a big help. I usually have Curaja and Diaga on Y'shtola, so I don't have room for Protectga or Shellga.

Speaking of Y'shtola, her Record Spheres are long overdue. Why doesn't she have any yet?

They mostly add record spheres at the start of an event for that realm. FFXIV gets little love, so Yshtola will have to wait about two more months.

Well, I guess this morning has some good news after all.

OMG! I beat Omega!

I mean, I didn't master it, and Celes was the only character that didn't die, but I don't even care. I only lost out on some upgrade materials anyway. :D

Hell yeah!

Celes was definitely the MVP. The fact that Runic absorbs Wave Cannon really saved my hide big time. I decided to go Thundara strike on both Bartz and Celes, because two Spellblades was the only way I could deal damage fast enough to kill it before it whittled me down with Wave Cannon, which is just impossible to outheal.

I tried Esuna on Y'shtola at first, but I had to use Stoneskin on the first turn, making it so I couldn't get rid of blind fast enough before it started to cause problems like Faris not being able to hit with Deluge and Rough Tides, Bartz and Celes missing vital Thundara Strikes etc. When I gave Esuna to Celes instead it went a lot better, and also let Y'shtola pull off a few early heals, which definitely helped me survive.

I also had Divine Guardian as RW. The haste and Regen were definitely vital. I had a few very close calls where Wave Cannon put characters at empty HP bars and would have killed them if they hadn't regened some health just before Wave Cannon hit.

I should rethink my abilities on Faris though. With Beryl Serpent I don't really need Magic Breakdown or Full Break anymore. I guess I could go Mental Breakdown? But I tend to use physical parties, so that doesn't help much. Armour Breakdown would be cool, if it weren't for Zidane's Mug Defense making it virtually useless. Maybe I should just give Faris other abilities than Support abilities, though I'm having a tough time thinking of any useful ones. If she could use Lifesyphon that'd be one thing, but she can't...

I also got a sick lucky draw. I was hoping for some VIII help, but instead I got Ragnarok and Shortbarrel (Vincent SSB).

I have now some sick Fire and Wind teams.

Fire:
Balthier - Strahl Strafe (Imperil SSB)
Terra - Uh Firemagitekthing (Enfire SSB)
Vincent - WhyCantIRememberNames (Enfire SSB)
Lulu - Firaga Fury and Focus (MOAR DMG)

Wind:
Zidane - Stellar Circle XIVC (Imperil BSB)
Freya - Six Dragons I Think (Enwind SSB)
Celes - Maria's Song and Three-Hit Wind SB (MOAR DMG)
Cloud - Finishing Touch (ya u knooo)
Tyro - Cyclone Grimoire (just kidding. i mean i have it but... no)

It helps that Fire and Wind also have the best representation among skills, even if Wind doesn't have a spell yet (it will ~ and I'm pulling HARD for Alphinaud relics eventually anyway)

My Wind team (read standard team) is slightly less powerful. I only have Stellar Circle Zidane, Finishing Touch Cloud and then Aerora Strike and Snowspell strike on Celes. It works well on bosses that use black magic, because Runic refreshes my rather lacking 2 Snowspell uses, but on bosses that don't, it doesn't work anywhere near as well. Also I usually don't use Cloud, because he'll just be competing with Celes over my Spellblade abilities, and Basch with Ruin Impendent feels more useful to me. Though I guess on magical bosses it isn't, and I should bring Cloud more often.

Zidane is usually the best character I have, but I was forced to bench him for Omega Weapon due to it absorbing everything besides Lightning.

My Omega Party:

Bartz: Thundara Strike + Steal Power, no special Soul Breaks
Faris: Armour Break + Halting Rumba, Beryl Serpent (The Halting Rumba was just for the medals, but Omega Weapon immediately snaps out of it, so it's completely useless. Beryl Serpent was very vital to my survival though.)
Basch: Lifesyphon + Draw Fire, Ruin Impendent (Not extremely useful, to be honest, but did give some breathing room when Omega Weapon used physical attacks. It definitely helps that Lifesyphon always hits though. Saved me from having to Esuna him.)
Y'shtola: Shellga + Curaja, Stoneskin II
Celes: Thundara Strike + Esuna, Indomitable Blade (Runic absorbs Wave Cannon, which is the single reason Celes stayed alive until the end while everyone else died around her.)

RW: Divine Guardian
Today I took on Omega with a partially unprepared team just to feel out how long stop would last and how quickly Ashe bsb command would deal damage. The result was that two characters with mind boosting rms but no haste managed to lock him down long enough for Edea to kill him practically by herself. His only action was the scripted blind.

100 5* upgrade materials sell for one million gil. That's an extra 4* reforge you might not otherwise have been able to afford.

TR would be the obvious choice, if you aren't already using it on Zidane. Otherwise, dismissal is always decent filler (except for the very rare immune boss).

My first Nightmare victory. ^.^ I should attempt some of the other nightmare bosses as well. The first few should be easier than Necrophobe, so I should be able to beat at least some of them with relative ease, I guess?

they're mostly gimmicky fights so it really depends on your setup. you need a SHITTON of burst damage for most of them. they're fun, though -- i really enjoyed ultima buster and tonberry king.

^.^

Faris is a goddess in these Support Nightmare bosses. The gimmick with them is that you have to use breakdown level support skills of a certain type, and with a single target Full Breakdown and a multi target Power/Magic Breakdown Soul Break she is definitely my mvp.

Though Tyro's Multi Break was also indispensible in this fight, because it allowed me to make both the nodes go haywire right after Zidane and Faris Power Stole and Armor Brokedown them.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I still have three of the old ones to do. Neo Bahamut, Curada and Northern Cross. I keep putting off doing them during the two weeks while they're up, and then suddenly realizing they're gone. I've also just been delaying Neo Bahamut forever because it required honing a bunch of summons, but I honed Syldra from rank 1 to rank 5 for the Omega fight last week, so I might as well try it now.

Apparently after we have the full circle of 12 nightmare bosses available, they're going to just make them available full-time instead of disappearing for two weeks every month.

That's good to hear! It always sucks when they disappear.

I still have a lot of nightmare bosses to complete, but the way those lines to the center light up when you beat them definitely has me wondering what kind of insane difficulty boss is awaiting us when we beat all 12 of them.

Yup. They get replaced with a different Abyss/Nightmare, I think. Not sure what the rewards are, but I believe that they are level 200 enemies.

Level 200?! Looks like I have some 5* abilities to create/hone and SSB/BSB/OSB relics to draw.

For a point of comarison, the mote dungeons are level 255 (they're listed as level ???).

Then I hope they're as easy to cheese as that Red Soul mote dungeon is. I can't even beat 180 bosses legitimately yet, haha.

This may just be the best pull I've ever gotten. Not only does it have 2 5* armours, it also made both Ramza and Wakka better than Faris, something I didn't think was even possible.

Wakka even just strictly outclasses Faris now, because his BSB is the same, except it works on 12 random targets instead of one target 5 times, making it much more useful against multiple enemies...

Damn...

Nah. Faris still has Dancer/Thief so you can stack up armor debuffs and/or Revenge too. Wakka also has a more limited equipment selection. There are uses for both kiddos.

...

nice pull though.

edit:

Giggles: Repentence (3-hit attack, not why I brought him... that tauntilate <3 )
Faris: Sea Lord's Broadside (atk/mgc debuff)
Celes: Maria's Song (used RW Serah BSB, for early en-Ice)
Eiko: Prayer of the Lost (used RW Serah BSB to clean up the final few HPs)
Leila: Captain's Command (shellga/hastega -- essential for this fight)

Atlas U++ setup. Wrecked him after a few s/ls to survive early crushing blows. What a bastard of a boss -- I have incredible FF13 synergy but wound up not using any of my 13 characters. I'm not against that, since I cidmissioned and CM-esqued the Ult and Ult+, but hey.
