POST A FUN FACT... ABOUT YOURSELF!

Posts

I've only got 4 first cousins. >< I'm also of Malaysian and Bangladeshi descent, so yeah. Or at least, my forefathers came from the East Indies.

Also, I'm not too sure if I should make another thread for this but, since this is an RM community, I'd like to know the following: ^^

- How old were you when you encountered RM?
21, back in 2009 with RMXP. Yes, I'm an old fogie compared to the rest of you who started out as teens. XD

- How many games have you completed ( not started ).
Only three. Enelysion, Lawrence of Aragorn and Accelerated World. Lady of the Lion should be number four by late 2016, provided I don't start another project.

- How many times have you considered cancelling projects?
I've cancelled about 3 projects so far, so my tally for total number of RM projects stands at about... six?

Cancelled works:

2009 - A Phantasy Star fangame made in RMXP. I remember arguing with Darken and Karsu back then, since I was such a n00b. >< Granted, I DID muck up PSIV with that horror...

2012 - An Arum-universe game called Land of Silence. I recycled some of the maps for Enelysion.

2015 - My cancelled IGMC entry, meant to take place in Enelysion's game world.

I don't remember exactly. It was RPG Maker 95, and I was in my early-mid teens.

Six. Four of which are on this site. The other two won't see the light of day because they now qualify as "old shame." :P Maybe I'll remake one of them one day.

- how many times have you considered cancelling projects?

Let's see... I'm not sure if this is 100% accurate because my memory is terrible, but here goes:

  • 1st project: RPG Maker 95 - CANCELLED

  • 2nd project: RPG Maker 2000 - Completed

  • 3rd project: RPG Maker 2000 - Put on super-hiatus and eventually completed in 2014 for the RMN Revive the Dead Event.

  • 4th project: RPG Maker 2000 - Worked on over the course of ten years but only got 50% complete... then CANCELLED.

  • 5th project: RPG Maker 2000 - Completed

  • 6th project: RPG Maker XP - CANCELLED but then the maps were cannibalized for the 7th Project, which is currently on hiatus.

  • 8th Project is Luxaren Allure, and there's no way that'll be canceled, as it's 99.8% done XD

  • 9th Project... Wyrm Warriors. As far as my involvement, that's a CANCELED. -_-

So, looks like four games I've cancelled. Add in the two McBacon Jam games and that's six. So wow, I thought my game-completion rate was good, but factoring in all this, it looks to be 50/50 XD;;;;;

As far as how often I consider cancelling projects, I usually don't. I really do want to finish everything. It's only when I realize that I'm not enjoying a project that I'll consider cancelling it.
I love onions (red and spring). I just simply can't imagine life without them.

- How old were you when you encountered RM?
14 or 15, I'm not sure. I started off with a (not-so-legal) japanese version of XP, which I quickly abandoned when I heard of VXA.

- How many games have you completed (not started).
I'd go and say one. KBS doesn't count as a game, and SK Nim and Air Defense are practically joke games. Though the latter I built to give a friend just starting out something to study.

- How many times have you considered cancelling projects?
18 times (unbelievable, I know). All of these projects are indefinitely on hold, spare two. The first being my only complete game, and the other being that game I accidentally stumbled upon and started working on again.

I ran into RM with RM 95, but I was probably only like... 10. I don't think I tried with any real effort at a project until I was 15 or so, with RM2k3. I've been on this site on and off since then, mostly to bug Craze for game design advice.

Something like... 13? Some of them are little jam games or class projects, and a couple are indescribably bad. There's only a few that I'm ultra-proud of (Résumé, Love Has Eight Legs, Nine Lives, DZOOP, maybe Mirror Boy). I hope to increase that number very soon!

-How many times have you considered cancelling projects?

I've considered cancelling each project at least once during its development, usually because I'll get an idea for an even better game midway. I've actually abandoned something like 100 games, and maybe 30 of those had a solid amount of work put into them before I pulled the plug :P I have a folder labelled "Graveyard" that I keep them all in so I can honor their memory and also get thoughts like "hey, maybe that wasn't such a bad idea..."

What about Last Minute Gift, unity?

How old were you when you encountered RM?
I don't know the exact time I started playing RM games, but I think that the first RM game I played was A Blurred Line. Since that was released in 2007, I wouldn't have been any younger than 15, I believe. I don't think I completed it, but I loved it, and wanted to start making my own games. I downloaded 2k and played through Don's Adventures and thought it was awesome. I made a couple of really crappy games that were less than 5 minutes. When I got VX, I created a silly story-only game with voiceovers by my family members. I wish I still had that game.

How many games have you completed (not started)?
I consider that I have finished 1 by myself (Maximus Jones), and 1 as part of a team (Our Desolate Planet). I completed a really tiny one for the RM 8th Birthday event (Curiosity Killed the Cash), and even though I only spent 8 hours on that game, it's ironically one of the games I'm most proud of because at least it's complete and it makes sense, no matter how short it is. (Then there are people who would believe it's completely batsy, a sentiment with which I'd agree.)

How many times have you considered cancelling projects?
I haven't. I generally don't cancel games. If anything, I will put them on Hiatus, because I can always come back and work on them later, assuming I had infinite amounts of time. To cancel something would mean deliberately meaning to never come back to it again, and I don't think I'd have the heart to do that to any of my "children", even if they were only born as Project1 with a single 100x100 world map full of sea. Still my chillun.

What about Last Minute Gift, unity?

Yep, to be more complete, I should mention Remnants of Isolation, Last Minute Gift, and Starship TsukuruNova. I didn't list them for some reason since they all got completed ^^;; So that makes Remnants the 10th (though it's not just mine since it's a team game), Last Minute Gift would be the 11th game and TsukuruNova the 12th. ^_^

But then the McBacon Games aren't numbered or accounted for in that list and that throws things off again ^^;; Oh well.

I have a lot of fun facts about me that literally no one would believe if I told them.

How old were you when you encountered RM?

19. I started in Tsukuru 2k3 for a creative process class, then switched over to VX because I was afraid of using an illegal engine (it was a long time ago, gimme a break). Then I took a three year hiatus because that project was the classic n00b mistake of trying to make a grand epic RPG as my first game.

How many games have you completed (not started)?

Everything you see in my profile are games that I have completed, including Remnants of Isolation (h-how could you forget that one, unity?). Add on to that the RMN birthday game I did with unity (h-how could you forget that one too? I'm gonna cry...) that makes five completed projects.

How many times have you considered cancelling projects?

Considered? Plenty of times. Actually done it? I don't think I have. I don't really have problems with finish projects. My biggest hurdle is actually starting projects, since I usually go all-out when I work. I'd rather focus on one project 100% than two projects 50%. My current project is essentially a downsized remake of that previously mentioned VX game.

That list was just to help me remember how many I had canceled and... dammit, I wasn't purposely excluding those XD

Am I going to have to make a big official list and everything to make you feel better? :P

- How old were you when you encountered RM?
Back in 2004 (A Blurred Line naturally). I was 16 at the time. Decided to make a legit project in 2007, and Carlsev Saga was born. It was well-received (for the time, hahahahahaha it sucks tbqh) and had like 2,000 downloads, and that motivated me to keep makin' gam.

- How many games have you completed ( not started ).
This gets kinda complicated.
Eight non-community games: (Carlsev Saga I, The Encephalon, Final Fantasy XIII-2k3, Five: a 24 Badaptation, Super Doki Doki World, Zephyr Skies (sure it counts! lmao) Terence's Tribulations, Deckiller's Return)

Four community games I led or had a huge role in: Mario's Mansion 2, Super RMN World, Super RMN All Stars, The RMW Chain Game

Eight other community games/developer credits: Mario vs. the Moon Base, Mario's Mansion, Upcoming Game, Super RMN Bros. 2, Super RMN Bros. 3, The Here and Now of Yesterday, The Last King of Hyrule, Where End Times Saddest Songs

So I guess that makes 12 games as a conservative number, or 19 if you count everything with developer credits. I'm not particularly proud of any of my solo projects. Some of them were kinda half-assed by a busy 20-something under a time crunch. I'm too "corporate" when it comes to making games.

- How many times have you considered cancelling projects?
I've only completely cancelled one project: The Encephalon II. And even then I plan on bringing that back in a different setting when the time is right. Everything else is on hiatus. Valera and the rest of the Carlsev Saga trilogy are pretty damn close to "cancelled" status, though. It sucks that about half of the games I started are on hiatus and only either have a demo or are halfway complete, but it could be worse, I guess.

-How old were you when you encountered RM?

12 or 13. I was in 7th grade, I know that, when I discovered rm2k. For some stupid reason I moved from that to 2k3 when it was localized by rpg-advo (one of the weirdest but most honest people I've ever met, for the record. #velvet), but yeah, 7th grader for rm2k.

Visions & Voices - Karsuman and I's confusing but classic experiment with real lovecraftian horror (not just lol cthulhu; karsu is a very subtle writer. SHUT UP NIGHTBLADE)

Wine & Roses - Did you know that I like ampersands? This is probably my proudest digital achievement despite its flaws. (It's still in the top 3 of my personal highlights.)

Teenage Costume Squad - Pure, distilled crazegame. If you want to know how Craze's mind works, you listen to the fairies and teenagers of TCS. Literally nothing but battles, equipment and banter. I adore it.

DEViL::ender - My only "artsy" game that is complete. I quite like the idea behind it, although I could have executed it better if I was a better fiction writer.

EPIC MONSTER DUNGEON EXPLORE! 2 - This game is shit, but you should play it.

Saga Mara Talon - This game is shit, and you absolutely should not play it.

Economy Sim/Zombieconomy - Befuddle Quest 2/4 entries. They're clever but not very intelligently designed. Eh.

Czarina Must Die! - This game is was way rushed, but it's okay. It tried some of the things that DEViL::ender did better. I might use Ysmena in a future project, as well as Cass/Zhang.

Direvil Darkfort - Better than anything LockeZ could make.

Dragons' Descendants - A real role-flipper! I did writing and mapping while chaos did battle design. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out on my end, even if chaos and I had some turmoil during it (both interpersonally and externally). It sure does exist.

Obelisk: Devilkiller - See Saga Mara Talon

Versus Xerza 01: Ultimate Showdown - The first English game ever made in rmvx. It's a prequel to EMDE!2, actually. Sort of. I don't really know.

DRESS/Forget-me-Nots - You can find this on iishenron's site. In this, Edge from ff4 is a zombie ninja and also flowers. It's a complete game in 2k3 and might be worth playing because it's so horrible it might be funny.

RPG Creator 2000 - You picked settings and a funny rpg was made for you. I love the concept, but the battles were waaay too long.

And then a few one-hour/three-hour games for the #rm2k channel. They probably don't exist anywhere.

I've never finished a rm2k or rmxp game.

Got some more for ya!

1. Even if it's a game I enjoyed, overhyped games annoy me.

2. I support some very obscure youtubers

3. My favorite console is the Nintendo Gamecube

4. I'm OCD

5. I don't use cable TV

I would answer those questions but two of the three answers have no answer.
