NEED TO FIND SOME NEW HEADPHONES, ANY TIPS?

My latest pair of headphones, some cheapo fold-up pair with a "no tangle" style cord, has stopped working on one side (if I adjust the angle of the jack just right I can kinda get it to work, but it requires constant holding and adjusting). I just got it like, a couple months ago, and usually the headphones I get last about 6 months before falling to the same fate. I'm guessing it's the "no tangle" cord that's the issue, since another pair I had a while back was pretty much just as flimsy.

So the question I have is, since I don't trust grocery outlet anymore, what should I be looking for in a pair of headphones to make sure it's durable enough for frequent use? I'm not particularly interested in the pricier stuff (partially out of fear that I'll break them just as fast and the other half being I tend to spend cheaply anyways), just something that works. Over the ear is my favorite style, earbuds just don't agree with me all that much (for some reason it's just uncomfortable to use them).
Thank you!
What do you do that your headphones wear down so quick? Are you falling asleep with them on or playing sports? heh My headphones last for years.

I don't know what brand has durability but I recently picked up a pair of headphones with rumble technology. They are amazing. It's like having a subwoofer inside your brain. That's the only suggestion I have.

I bought these recently and even though they're quite cheap they're the best headphones I've ever had. They're probably not the most durable, but I've had them a year and they're still fine, and I can be absolutely brutal to headphones.

You say you don't want the pricier stuff, but at the same time you say you get new earphones every couple of months...I think you should at least look at branded ones.

In a sense I will agree that no matter how pricey the headphones are, if you don't take care of the wires, they're probably going to stop working eventually. A decent pair of Sennheisers will usually last for a year or two if you're careful enough, though.

FWIW: I'm not convinced that earphones above, say, $100, will work much better than those worth $50. A couple of months ago, I bought a pair of Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear ones which turned out to be one of the biggest wastes of money I've ever bought. I swear the Apple EarPods are better than these.

I'm currently using Sennheiser PMX60's, they're over ear but with a neckband, since I find that more comfortable. They usually last me around 18 months before I wear through one of the earpads and have to replace it but they don't fail me in any other way. Cost me around $30.

I use them all the time with my laptop and my mp3 player. In the past, the usual thought reason for the wear and tear was where I positioned my mp3 player when using it, because sometimes it would squash the chord. I've since stopped storing it in my pants pocket and have opted for my purse's flipphone pocket.
Also, my smartphone has a case with a pretty thick rubber thing around it that gets a little bit in the way of the headphone jack. While it has room for the headphone jack, the thing you have to open applies pressure to the chord too.

I guess I'm not really all that responsible with my headphones...
Try wrapping electrical tape, or something strong, around the wire where it usually breaks down. That might help. Or get a new case!
