[DESIGN/MARKETING] WHY SO SECRETIVE?

CloseReleasing demos is a love/hate relationship, really. Everyone needs feedback because you don't want a nearly completed game that hasn't been reviewed by outside eyes. If something sucks or doesn't feel right you'll have to move backwards or likr some people deny fixing it by saying it's too deep now.
I personally believe the sooner the better if you have a demo, if you have nothing playable then wait for even the smallest of demos before posting a gamepage.
YOU NEED THIS COMMUNITY'S FEEDBACK. there is of course the %1 who don't but I digress.
If you have a decent, playable demo the sooner you put it up and advertise the better for gathering followers and getting feedback, whether good or bad.
On the plus side, once you do have your idea or your world on RMN the better because then your idea is set in stone. Of it is taken or ripped off then you can say and prove that you did it first!

I really, really hate when people call that a 'demo'. That's not a demo, that's a playtest. Or beta release. Demo = Demonstration, IE, a short snippet of the full game designed to let you know what the whole thing is like. If you have a download up that's the whole game minus what you haven't finished, that is a beta test.
Demo can also be like PT where they tested out the atmosphere, gameplay, general design without showcasing the actual game itself. It's not quite a tech demo, as there are some links to the story, but it's not the actual game itself, either.

And then after rave reviews, decided they didn't want to do it. Because Konami right now is absolutely determined to take everything good they've made and run it into the ground so hard they shave it down to a nub. /rant
