Ever see the episode of Family Guy where Lois ran for mayor against Adam West?
She began her debate attempting to address real issues and speak competently, but was losing badly to Mayor West's soundbyte-style rhetoric.
Then Brian advised her on the nature of undecided voters, and she proceeded to just spout off "NINE ELEVEN" repeatedly, getting more and more elated cheers each time.
...sounds familiar.
What do you guys make of the second Obama vs. McCain debate just now?
author=Reives link=topic=1927.msg36517#msg36517 date=1223434467I refused to watch it, because I'm finally excited about an election and I don't want to ruin that by seeing more of whoever is going to be president next year show less class and poise than the people on my middle school debate team.author=harmonic link=topic=1927.msg36108#msg36108 date=1223300968Hahah, yeah that's pretty much it.

ST:
Man... I really admire those politicians sometimes though. I don't agree with skirting issues and lying and stuff (which is part of being politicians) but they are REALLY skillful in their handling of questions, even McCain. Put those guys against the average Joe and it would be a slaughter.
Especially Obama. That guy is the King of Cool. Some of the junctures during this debate were brutal... Tom Brokaw was a pretty shitty moderator and that really messed with Obama's mojo at points, but sheesh... he always finds a way to slink out of it and masterfully 'wow' the crowd.

I have my absentee ballot...
Yet I still have no idea what to vote for this time around. It'll most likely go
to Obama at this rate... and only to say I voted.
Neither one really makes me enthusiastic to be honest.

haha it's made this years election fun.
I don't think I'm gonna bother with voting. I don't like either side. Both are stupid, neither will change a single cotton-pickin' thing.
...whooops, my southern tounge slipped out on me again!

I don't care if people don't follow politics, but don't feign knowledge about the subject matter when you complain that 'both are the same'. That's just touting ignorance. Seriously.
That same 'I don't care' mentality is probably what got us Dubya.

Guys, I had a real nightmare last night (seriously).
McCain won.
I must double my efforts.
McCain won.
I must double my efforts.
If the world were voting, Obama would win in a landslide:

I remember reading some articles regarding this a few months ago (maybe the same one, didn't click the link). The one country that had some nominal level of McCain support: RUSSIA.

Ignorant? Maybe so, but I still think both sides are stupid. It's an opinion, ment as an opinion.
Maybe the world should be under one single government - certainly not someone from the states - but I really don't care what happens about this petty little four year cycle. It changes nothing. I don't see a point in voting, I really don't. The same shit just happens every four years, and the world is going to hell in a handcart.
It won't matter in the end.
Wow, uh, I know it's just your opinion, and it doesn't make you a bad person or anything, but you're pretty politically ignorant!
False, false, false!
