LET'S DISCUSS FALLOUT 4 - SPOILERS (OBVIOUSLY)

Posts

To be fair, some of the bugs can lead to some funny stuff and role-playing experiences (like Red shows off). Others, though... >.<;

(I still haven't fixed that issue with the pipboy I've been having :/ )

Woah I just went back and saw your issue. How can you play the game without the Pip Boy? That's insane!

523 units of steel, 342 screws, 812 wood... 0 adhesives.

Dammit.
Well, the pipboy shows up... when I'm in power armour. But this means I can never change my regular armour and have to go everywhere clunking around like a goddamn gundam, so my sneak build isn't exactly working for me. XD

Console commands, my friend. Console commands.

Also, count yourself lucky Preston drowned himself because he gets annoying. XD

Best thing to do with Preston? Send him to a remote settlement that you never visit.
Yeah. At least you can mark components to keep an eye out for, which helps. As soon as I see that magnifying glass next to an item name I snap it up right-smart.

I started my hard-core game on Fallout 4. Granted, I've not yet finished the game in my other modes but I just felt like diving in the deep end now that I know what I'm doing. I'll still be doing my LP one, but the one without the pipboy access has become a chore for me to slog through so...

I rolled a high charisma character who wears a tuxedo. Thankfully I found a black suit in Sanctuary, then a tux in Concord, which helps. I'm going 007 style~ No defence, let's persuade our way through the wasteland and shoot when necessary. So far so good, though I had to use the damn power armour to take out that stupid death claw. :/

I'm still in the process of looting Concord, and I let Preston and his gang head to Sanctuary by themselves (sort-of hoping they'd get lost/meet something awful along the way. No luck. I might off Marcy this time around because holy fucking shit is she the most annoying woman to ever come from a Fallout game. Come back, Maureen! All is forgiven! ;.; )

I've set up base in the Red Rocket for now - well away from Preston and his gang of idiots. I might send some of the less annoying ones over eventually, but so far it's just me and dog. We're happy.

I did a thorough exploration of the tunnels under Concord, too, and found out that the tunnel the Deathclaw pops out of connects to the underground maintenance tunnels. Not much of worth was found in that area (though I did stumble on a hidden fusion core in the main areas of the tunnels, which was niiiiice. That makes three now - one in the tunnels, one in the museum and one in the cave behind the Red Rocket. Not that I'll use them much but hey, they'll come in useful I'm sure!)

My current plan is to do enough Railway quests (when I find them) to unlock the cloth-alteration skills, so I can rock my tux all the way through the wastes.

Marcy is tagged as essential... for some reason. :(
God
damn
it

For serious?

...THERE ARE CONSOLE COMMANDS FOR THAT... :DDD
Yup, I found out when I tried to kill her myself one time. Same with her depressing husband and Mama Murphy. They're permanent Sanctuary residents.

I don't even use Sanctuary anymore because I was tired of hearing those three spout angry or prophetic nonsense at me. Shipped everyone else off to Starlight Drive In.

Fuck Sanctuary and fuck Marcy Long.

I was pretty mad when I couldn't kill a random ghoul couple or well a lot of other people too.
Goodbye roaming evil character who lives off the land and steals and murders.

No karma is pretty dumb

Yeeeah, the Commonwealth has a very odd system of right and wrong...

GHOULS ARE PEOPLE TOO!

that ghoul worked hard for his caps and toothbrush :P
A lot of European players I've talked to didn't know that those elevated highways across the Commonwealth/downtown are real things in many American cities. Interesting.
I did know that since we also have some stuff like them in Australia (mainly bypasses and the like. They totally count, right? Yeah, they count. ;p ).

My clothing-only run ran into some issues. Mainly every monster that ever exists in the Commonwealth. I'm even having issues with staying alive when fighting fucking flies, ffs. >.<;

So I've decided to allow armour, but only until I get the ability to upgrade my clothes (from the Railway quests) and no power armour allowed (though I've collected a few and stored them in my home base - which is the Red Rocket this time around because fuck the settlements and Minutemen (and Preston in particular).)

Still having fun. Still worth the money I spent on it.

I really enjoyed the Minuteman stuff at first but then it drove me insane and really cheapened the world for me.

I don't think it was worth buying a new system for, I should have waited until a buttload of games I like or want were available and bought a second hand xbox one.
That's not really anything elses fault but my own, as I don't play console much anymore, or much games generally for that matter.
Ah, yeah, about the only thing I'd buy a new system for is Suikoden 6 (sigh), but for someone who already updated their computer, it's a fun time.

And maybe I'm alone in this, because Fallout 4's graphics are amazing but I would have easily been happy with the same shit from NV and FO3.
It's probably because I grew to love the world after playing those two titles waaaay too much, like the only console game I played besides maybe Left 4 Dead co-op or some other co-op shooter games with friends.

Kinda the same way with Skyrim everything is almost too beautiful, and I enjoyed the more "cartoonish" look for lack of a better word for the previous games.

edit: my point here being I wish it was just released on xbox360 instead of a new system just for graphical stuff.

Woof, how late am I to this party! Despite all odds, I managed to plow through and finish the main campaign yesterday. PS4 version; only ran into a couple of serious bugs (reloading a pistol while inside an elevator made me fall through the world more than one time), but overall it was a way smoother experience that either FO3 or New Vegas.

I ended up siding with the Railroad and nuking the Institute, though I admit it wasn't an easy decision. They almost got to me! I even spent the rest of the game in a Courser uniform, mostly for style and partly to not have to fool with the terrible armor/equipment system any more. Everything from getting into the Institute up through the endgame was streets ahead of the rest of the game in my opinion, but the actual ending sequence was really tepid. Not much in the way of closure, and no boss fight to speak of. I did appreciate how it looked like they were pulling a FO3 with the reactor; I was convinced the door was going to slam shut behind me.

I think I may replay again with a high-Charisma character. Even with average charisma and Agatha's dress, I don't think I ever passed a speech check even once.
