I just finished voting, so where the hell's my free cookie, you cheap ba*tards? :P
Also, what the hell, why is Red Syndrome the only nomination for “Most Puzzling Game” this year? Surely there has to be a lot more choices to choose from than just that. Jesus…

I also don't understand how the "Horror" games nomination has only one actual Horror game that is also a puzzle game lol
April is a Fool and Virtual Grappi are the best horror? Lmao, right.
I get Grappi, I guess? but it's definitely more trippy/weird than actual horror. Is there a surreal nomination?
Or do people just vote games into every single category?

Because some eager beavers jumped in before there was a fully realised list. Yeah, we were gonna add some more promising stuff but nope, eager little beavers decided to leap into the voting before it officially began.

Uh it doesn't say "Best Horror" it says "Most Horrific," DUH. They don't have to be any good!

Wait, how did said beavers get the ability to vote before y'all were ready?
But they aren't horrific! :(

I'm gonna assume that kentona left the gate open to the wood yard when he was checking the wood supply. It only takes a second for hungry little beavers to run on in and gobble the wood all up.
(Seriously, you guys find stuff very fast that you were never meant to find - like the time we pre-loaded the stuff for RPG Maker 2003 re-release and suddenly there was a topic about it asking what was up with the new icons. Quick off the mark, you bunch.
Nessy and I's conversation went legit like this:
"We'll preload it and they won't even know."
"Nessy, they're gonna know."
"No, they won't realise."
"Okay, sure. But they'll find it. We've some sharp people here."
"It'll be fine. They won't realise."
"Okay then."
:a few hours pass:
"Nessy... they found it."
"What?"
"There's a topic about the icons already."
"HOW THE FUCK DID THEY SEE IT SO QUICKLY!"
"Welp."
:Nessy pulling her hair out and making frustrated noises and swearing her ass off:
:Me laughing:
:kentona popping into the thread all confused because we forgot to tell him about it:)
Hey, it was at least a few hours between it going up and the first 21 votes being registered XD And another few before that doubled.
(And yes, I totally went lol whut? at awaf getting nominations in most horrific. Made all the funnier with most humourous being right above it.)

I mean, the page does say "At midnight on 12/31 all the nominations are tallied up, etc etc". And you know there's going to be a few people sitting there with an itchy trigger finger.

Which would have been fine but I don't think we can see the nominations before that point, so when kentona saw that there was one freaking puzzle game nominated... and that a few of the nomination categories were a bit sparse... well... we tried.

Damnit, that face. :(
I don't mean to sound shitty, because the games definitely deserve nominations! It's just strange and I guess a little sad that non-horror games get nominations but no actual horror games.
And this might sound biased because I generally make nothing but "horror" games, though I never understood how an rpgmaker game can actually be "horrific"
Shit, I have a hard time getting horrified in big name horror games let alone 2D rpg maker games.
Make a game where a bunch of cute cats are getting murdered by someone who doesn't like cats and I might be horrified, but more likely insanely angry.
Well, this year we did have Ib and Witch's House added to the site, so they actually qualified for the Misaos. XD

Aw fudge, I coulda nominated Ib for everything?!
I fukken love Ib so much it's so good you guys.
Though maybe it's for the best, since then I would have a hard time picking between it and Grist of Flies for best music.
(GoF is also super fukken good.)

Ib and Witch's House added in 2015? But I just checked both games, and both were uploaded in 2014 with no new uploads in 2015, so they don't qualify for 2015 Misaos...
Are you sure? Because I'm pretty sure they came through the queue this year.
EDIT: Whoa, you're right?! ...wait, I've been at this over a year now? It feels like I only just got the queue job. Weird. I remember them coming through not long after I started, and for some reason I thought I started at the start of the year so...
WELP!
Damn. Last year really, really flew by, didn't it?

Yes, yes it did
welp once someone comes up with a workable and better replacement for the Misaos, we can cancel this awards ceremony.
Well, I mostly played older games this year (and weaker newer ones, I guess) so I can't comment much on the nominees. Well, except that...
a) Hope Final Fantasy one isn't the eventual winner, because that's far too boring an outcome.
b) Best Level/Dungeon/Puzzle Design is at least one category too many, as evidenced by Red Syndrome currently being on top. That was the last RMN game I played, and it had very good whole dungeon design due to the unique "Syndrome is spreading" element, and needing to push it back, and the key/barrier element wasn't bad, either (though Iron Gaia: Virus did that one much better back in the day.)
However, the level design (as in, the levels you're going through) was extremely artificial, always feeling like a game arena and not part of a station people actually lived and worked on. I think it might be a good idea to separate it into "Best Level Design" and "Most Functional Level/Puzzle Design", or something.
c) Given that horror games appear notably underplayed/undernominated this year, what if we schedule an annual event at and around Halloween to shine the light on all the currently released, Misao-eligible horror-themed games? This might include a list on the main page, pumpkin review events and all the other good stuff. As a side effect, it might also encourage people to a) make more of them, b) put more effort into them, and not just make "abandoned mansionrunning slow-walking simulators" that appear to make up the absolute majority so far.
