HIGHLANDER'S REALM ("D&D" FORUM RPG)

"Thank you, Chloe. And thank you, Aldus. I do not often see kindness in the sunlight. And the premise can change at any moment, but some things are predictable, and it's better to not assume that some altering force is going to interfere with predictable things in a timely fashion. At least for those of us trapped in a single world."
can't wait till yall find out that gnoll patrol took all your stuff
Predictable? What is she even talking about? Trapped in a single world? Poor Leara, that sounds horrible. Wait, how is she even here now, then? No, that doesn't seem right. I think I just don't understand what she is trying to say, which is perfectly fine. So instead of arguing, I just try to reassure her while she is in this depressed mindset:
"Don't worry, my friend. I won't allow anything to hinder your potential. There only are and will only be altering forces always everywhere. Unless that changes, of course, but then it can be changed again, and then..."
As I ruminate over this fascinating paradox, my talking begins to turn into unintelligible mumbling.
And as if that would stop us, anyhow.

author=CAVE_DOG_IS_BACKIf that were the case, I think Seiromem would have made us aware of that by now.

what I'm saying: there would never be a time discrepancy. People's actions are taken in the order they're posted in the thread anyway.
No, there WOULD be, if you got in seven actions and everyone else only got in two, each singular action would still resolve in the same amount of time, the difference being you got five minutes of actions in while they only got 1 minute of actions in.
For example: Agnelia & frogge break in. You say: "sneak into the compound." You sneak in, frogge doesn't, because he never posted an action. So did he just sit there while you walked in? Sure, and you post another action to move in further. Frogge is still sitting there. You go in more, frogge gets run over by the patrol while he just sits there, he gets into combat because of it.
Another example: Enna talks with the village counsel. It takes a few hours, but she gets it done while the talk goes on till dawn. You guys haven't posted an action yet, but it was still night for you. Did you guys just sit there for 5 hours until dawn while she talked? Enna has no reason not to continue actions, so she goes to the plains. It's dawn in the plains for her, and you post your actions for what happens at night. That's a major time discrepancy, where you guys might have been breaking out at that time.
It's like lag in an MMO.

if by "By Now" you mean now, then yes =X
I'm horrible at editing the previous Post.
Also Kloe, there is no cooldown noted at the bottom under 'management' so it's off cooldown.
-----Turn 11-----
Agnelia and Frogge get to the edge of the Gnoll entrance guards' torchlight without being seen. The tunnel goes in for a few feet before splitting into what appears to be four directions, each going down slightly.
The Gnolls are barking idle chatter to each other, and the patrol goes past them.
Leara begins playing her instrument, which the Gnolls deemed as worthless and left her with. Aldus was also left with his bag, as after inspection it was empty to them. Other than that, everything was taken from the party.
Leara's performance is sound, and it reinforces what Patchi has stated about her.
Yalvota cackles with malice and exclaims "Very well then, we'll eat the family! You'll be in charge of relocating the them all. One at a time, so you can get feel for the warrens better. I'll make sure they don't escape."
Aldus begins speaking gibberish that no one understands. He then reaches into his pouch and pulls out a piece of parchment and a rusty nail from his bag. Yalvota, after reaching for her whip when Aldus reached into his bag, pulls it off her belt but is stunned when Aldus pulls out the things. Aldus turns to Chloe and asks her to heal Leara, which Chloe does. After waving her arms around, she produces a stream of water around Leara, whose wounds close up. heal 7. Yalvota shakes her head and looks at Patchi "Make sure you strike them if they get out of hand." and continues to stand guard.
Enna goes to the town hall, where many townsfolk seem to be flocking to. The raised platform in the back is filled with the town counsel members sitting at podiums, while the room before them fills with unsettled townsfolk. One elf takes the middle podium and speaks loudly
"Calm!"
After a few moments the babble of worry dies down. The elf speaks clearly and calmly.
"It seems that a tribe of Gnolls has inhabited a plateau in the middle of the plains. As you know, Carlos' Caravan hasn't arrived, and the bodies of some of his guards had been found stripped naked. Obviously, the Gnolls are hoping for years of raiding and torment, which with our town's rather isolated location, puts us at great risk. The nearest town of significant population is thousands of miles away, on the coast! All the farming villages on the river are in danger, but we don't have the men to spare! The counsel is divided on the course of action we should take. So, we shall give our pitches to you, and you must vote."
"I speak for Gulv and I. We both think we should wait for support from Calcathos, the city on the coast, and destroy the Gnoll threat. This would mean months of defensive action, in which the Gnolls could raid us, but we have the advantage within our own walls. We can survive. As for the villages along the river... they knew the risk of settling there."
The townsfolk begin to mumble worriedly, but none seem to be actively opposed.
A half orc stands up and walks to the podium and introduced himself as Olgodush.
"I speak for Tanti and I. We believe we have the force necessary ourselves, and should invade these gnolls and drive them out as soon as possible. If we can contact the village on the river and converge on their home and drive them out in one fell swoop, we can prevent any suffering we WOULD endure in weathering the Gnolls' assaults! We should take the battle to them, and make them pay for murdering Carlos OURSELVES! We need to take action, not wait around in fear! We have able-bodied fighters and crafty mages, and the villages aren't slouches! They knew the risks of living there and planned accordingly, we shouldn't abandon them!"
With that, the crowd begins to rise in volume supporting Oglodush's idea.

Soothing wave on cooldown (30 seconds)
1 Random item left in Aldus' Bag.
Since communication has been a problem during this entire scene, for convenience's sake I would like to ask: Which languages do our characters speak? And what would we have to do in order to acquire new ones?
((I think I remember, in my original submission, that my character speaks Elvish and English. I don't know if that's changed))
This village seems to be on edge with this Gnoll problem, I think to myself. Maybe I could make up for my failed hunt by lending my services to Olgodush.
For now, however, I'll wait to hear more from this political debate.

(I should speak Elvish and Common.)
While I play, look around at the cell and the gnomes. Observe all details. Rolled a 19 +5 for perception.

You speak your Racial Languange and common if your race can be found commonly above ground and is not monstrous (like a gnoll). Patchi's background allows him to speak Kobold and common, however.
Otherwise:
Aldus knows Common and one random language, which changes every month. This month it's: Orcish.
Chloe knows Common.
Leara knows Common, Undercommon, and Elvish
Enna knows Elvish and Common
Froggmin knows only Common due to his backstory.
Agnelia knows Elvish and common and Abyssal.
Enna: The debate seems like it shall go on for hours. Some points being brought up: Defense has more chance of success
Offense is more honorable
We have the people and they're able (Both ways)
Gnolls have the advantage if they're on the defense.
Leara: The room is bare, dim bar one torch, and dusty. Two doors lead into/out of the room. You aren't restrained, just extremely tired and wounded (not so badly anymore).
The male gnoll has a small sword and splintmail, the female gnoll has a whip, a morning star and is wearing half-plate.

Hmm...with all of us at level one, the female gnoll with that morning star and half-plate is going to be a problem. Probably better to wait for an opportunity.
Seiro, how much do I know about the warrens layout? I know we passed a kitchen and crafting area, but I assume that Patchi knows more, since he's been there longer. Can you tell me what he knows of the warrens/rooms of significance? and possibly how things are laid out if that matters/isn't a bother.
Everything connects to the main hallway which leads to the exit. There is a back-exit for waste in the mess hall, which is down the third hallway.
Hallway 1: Kitchen/Crafting
2: Housing
3: Mess Hall
4: Training

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

(Aldus knowing a random language which changes every month is very fitting. I wonder if it's ever changed while he was in the middle of a conversation using it.)
Ugh, nothing visible in the tunnel except more tunnels. Fortunately, I studied scenarios like this in my combat training at the temple where I was raised. Whether I can actually remember what I learned, much less execute it, is another matter. I was pretty bored during those lessons.
I say to Froggmin: "I don't see any hiding places inside. I don't think we can sneak in without being seen. If we want to go in, we need draw the guards outside with a distraction."
"You look around on your own, I'm going to try to find something to draw their attention."
I look around outside at the various tents. If any of them have a lamp lit inside them, the tent walls should be illuminated. Any that don't have lamps lit inside them are probably unoccupied. I try to identify a tent that is unoccupied and sneak into it.
Perception roll: 1.
Stealth roll: 5.
With rolls like that, I can tell this plan will go flawlessly.

I make a lot of noise hopefully enraging them so they make a mistake. I'll roll for that because I'm unsure if I need to, I roll 11.
(I'm not entirely sure what I expected them to do by mistake, like throw the morning star out a window? But there aren't windows...)

(Ooh! I originally thought it would be fitting for Aldus to speak some kind of obscure demonic language. But this idea of having a different one at random every month is way better. I like it!)
"Oh, hey. Why are you being so loud, whoever that is that is being so loud? Wouldn't you rather have some sleep right now?"
Since apparently either the gnolls around here or I do not speak Gnollish, I address them in Common: "Say, would you mind if I turned down the lights, so we can rest more easily? Thank you."
Without waiting for an answer, I cast Prestidigitation to create a small amount of water right on top of the burning torch.

Uh oh... I'm disadvantage at those too!
I roll a 4!? Dammit! Minus something as well, I remember that, but I'm pretty sure that's a fail anyway. Something tells me I messed up...

these guys stupid! Might be dumber than animals back home..
Patchi draws his sword, saunters over to the man creating water, and yanks him to his feet. He barks at him in gnollish to move. Putting the tip of the blade to his back, he begins walking him to an unoccupied room in the housing area.
