CloseOk I'm in pieces the game ive been working on for months is just gone? I went to load my project the same exact place the same exact way I do everyday and poof its gone, all that's there is a very old project file from the project from months ago with no work on it. this was saved over a LONG time ago how could this happen?
Wait, is the project file of the recent project still there? What changes happened to your computer along the way?

Did you happen to move folders around at some point? Usually it's because you moved something, perhaps moved the contents of another folder which contained the project. Perhaps check your recycling bin, in case you accidentally moved something there.

i saved it like i normally do and exited from the rpg maker program. this morning i woke up went to my project folder to open the file and when i did, it opened my project........just a save from MONTHS ago. like ive went over it and nothing weird or different happened. it saved and i turned it off. i thought i was impossible to revive old files that were saved over like the save file says February. like its the only project file i have so im really confused
You might have not saved or you accidentally deleted maps. I'm not trying to nitpick but your avatar is inappropriate. I can't believe RMN lets people get away with this stuff. And don't get me started about Saykyo...
@dragonsprit99: Don't jump on someone's topic to derail about their avatars. If you have an issue with something on the site, PM a mod. Geez.
Maybe try a system restore from a day or two ago if nothing else works for you? It should revert things back to before they were messed with, but this is the reason you should always keep a back-up.
I highly recommend even making a gamepage and uploading to a non-public download (mark it for testers and it won't be shown on the gamepage for download) in the future.

Always, always, always make a back-up somewhere on your computer away from your project folder just in case you ever save over something you didn't mean to or if the project data becomes corrupt or you accidentally delete a file that's pivotal to the project or something to that effect.
I'd recommend using your OS's search function to see if there isn't another instance of your folder somewhere on your computer. If not, there's really nothing that can be done aside from just use this instance as a life experience to reference from in the future.

What version of RM are you using? In the older makers I believe it's possible for the map tree to become corrupted and the project won't show any maps, and you can recover from this fairly easily. I would open the project folder in your file browser and see if your maps are still around regardless.
;_; Very sorry to hear this. I hate to chime in when I don't have a solution, but I also recommend making frequent backups. I back up current projects twice a week to make sure these sorts of things don't happen.

Rpg maker have this crush problems since Rpg maker XP, at the XP if the computer turn off , everything crashes, that why Backup on Cloud is so important

I am using vx ace. I mean it doesn't seem corrupted it just pulled up an OLD version of the project that was saved over months ago, I mean I always save, wait for it to save, then hit save again because I wanna make extra sure, but ughhhh now ik to keep a back up, ive lost all hope to find a way to get my file back idk how an old save could just come back like this...

yea I totally cried, I couldn't believe it, I work somedays nonstop so I lost a lot of work idk whether to suck it up and redo it or what lol ugh my soul is crushed
Sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. My mom said that I couldn't go to this site anymore if she kept seeing inappropriate avatars. Plus I've already have had meltdowns about this site, especially when I got a 2 half a star rating on Zero Gear Fighters and a 1 star rating on DA. I'm past that now. I know c;eavage isn't the worst thing in the world. (especially compared to games like GTA SA and IV.) i do think the avatar is cute, (expect for the cleavage) but if my mom catches me with a people who have "fan-service galore avatars" she will block this site and I will have to quit making games because there is no other place to post my games exceot for here. I'm just really sorry.
