So after ten years of a desk job and years before that going to university I got fat. I don't want to be fat anymore. So I am going to start something and go from there. That something is:

  • 10 pushups
  • 10 situps
  • 10 squats
  • 1km walk everyday

Yes, it's not much but it's something. Hexatona is in on this too. I message him when I do one of my sets, and he does the same. We started today. You can get in on this too. Just post in this topic if you did one of these items, every day. The squats can be substituted with lunges, and the walk with a jog or a 10 minute bike ride.

We'll bump up the numbers if/when we stick to this for X days.

The other thing I am doing is cutting down pop to one can a week (can't drink my rye straight...yet) and limiting fast food. I also play strenuous floor hockey once a week for 1.5 hours on Sunday.

Post here if you want in or want to encourage/insult us! Either or!

I walked maybe a quarter mile today, so I just now supplemented it with 20 squats, 14 push-ups, and 10 sit-ups.

And 14 was all the push-ups I could do! HOLY COW I am out of shape. I used to be able to jump like 4 or 5 feet in the air!

So I'm subscribed. I don't think I'll lose any weight, but this might help me get on a regimen if I know there's a thread on RMN waiting for me.
kentona, your training regime must be inspired by One-Punch Man's training regime, isn't it? ;)

Only that his version is

I worry about how much time I sit in front of a computer... so I am doing daily exercises too. Its pretty exciting when I can do more more than before.

I'm trying to work up to 100 just like Baldy there!

I've been doing mine with weights- Currently at 60 curls (half bicep, half hammer) with 10 lbs, 30 tricep lifts with 5 lbs, 45 deep squats with 15 lbs*, and elbow plank at about 30 seconds three times. Plus yoga and bowling once a week, plus housework.

I need to actually do some cardio, I just hate it.

I'm still fat because metabolism leaves after like 30, but I have a shitload more energy and I can carry heavy stuff much easier, so I can feel smug about being stronk.

*I was previously up to 25 lbs on my squats, then I learned that not-deep squats are bad for the knees, so I had to start over.

Last night I was too buzzed to make a serious post here, but now...

Right now I just try to jog a lot. It's been my main form of exercise for around a year- I got out of it a bit during the winter for obvious reasons, but I'm getting back in now. I can go for about close to a mile straight before I have to break. I try to do about two half mile or more jogs when I go out in the evening.

In between jogging days or on days with shitty weather I do leg lifts and push ups. About two sets of 10 for push ups and three sets of 10 for leg lifts at the moment. I should be doing more core exercise like planks too, but I always forget.

It also helps that I gave up soda about two years ago, and I don't eat much in the way of sweets. I have an issue with chips + hummus and pizza however, but I try to at least make allowances for it and make up for it otherwise, on days that I eat that stuff. Having a vegetarian diet helps with energy and avoiding unhealthy food as well. I basically never fry anything anymore, for instance.

I've lost about 50 pounds over the last year and I'm down to ~220 now. I still have a mean beer gut that I need to destroy, but there's a lot more muscle definition on the legs and arms now, so I'm pretty pleased.
I'm...a total fitness junkie. I'm pretty much a jock, almost. Thanks, military.

My go-to is weightlifting. I hit the weights and I hit them hard. Right now I'm doing my third cycle of Candito's 6 Week Program, which has a lot of emphasis on the Big Three, Bench, Squat, and Deadlifts with auxiliary exercises built in. I hope to hit 1,000 lbs on them combined by this time next year.

I try to further supplement that with jump rope and a bit of running for cardio, and I'm going to start hitting the batting cages soon, as well. When I was on deployment, I messed around with some Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and now that I'm out the military, I'm going to try to find the time to get back into Jiu Jitsu.

I recently started going to the gym again. Just for a half-hour in the morning a few days a week, just to start doing something. I definitely am much more energetic for the rest of the day if I work out in the mornings.

Anyway,

Yea boot camp/military helped me too! I was always a good runner. I ran my PRT in under 11 minutes before and after bootcamp, but I struggled with pushups. I think I ended basic training with over 50. When I started bootcamp, doing 30 was pushing it for me. Since we have bi-yearly PRT exams I just got into a routine of fitness. I dig it.

Good luck Kentona! Accountability partner is a good idea. Also if you're married, showing the gains off to your partner can be exciting :)...

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I've been going back to it, push-ups and squats are a go, and I'll just do lunges instead.

You can do it!!

That's why I got my dad's treadmill.

(And then rarely use it because, again, fuck cardio. Uni uses it tho so it's all good.)

I should be doing more core exercise like planks too, but I always forget.

Planks are so great. I was doing situps before, but planks are a lot more fun. My yoga instructor showed a few variations, like moving the sides of your hips to the ground and back up, and I was like, "HOLY SHIT THAT'S AWESOME!"

It also helps that I gave up soda about two years ago, and I don't eat much in the way of sweets. Cutting sugar is a good idea in general.

I've had good results with keeping my portions down, and relying on unsalted nuts or mozzarella cheese sticks for protein snacks (hummus is also super great for this), and then using popcorn or rice cakes if I'm craving something like chips. Also FRUUUUUIIIIIT!

The weight training means I haven't lost any weight, but I have lost size; the chub's just slowly turning to muscle. :D

Life goal:

I am too lazy to actually work hard enough to attain it but I still want it.

ETA: Other life goal:
I've been doing this for a while now. At first I hated it, I thought it was boring and a waste of time, and I guess I still do. But at the same time it's nice to see how little by little you keep pushing your limits and you start feeling better than before. I use HabitRPG to keep track of everything and I feel that too has helped me to stay motivated and all...

But here's the funny/sad part. In my schedule, there's also a few hours on weekends in which I force myself to tinker with RPG maker, and I don't think it has helped me at all. Nowadays, I think I enjoy doing exercise more than gam mak. So if you're anything like me, say goodbye to any vague hope you still had of making games ever again. xD
