NINTENDO'S NEXT SYSTEM IS... THE NES!
Posts
Its pretty easy to get NES and some games for it. Easier than to get anything playable for my Master System or Gamecube.
I would be like to know whether it emulates NES feel (like scrolling and loading, breaking of the sound chip).

Well, the nostalgia will help it sell! I'd be interested in seeing if they do actually starting making games on cartridges again, and if they do how it works out.
I played a lot of NES games even if I am comparatively a babby on RMN :P

To get it to work, you have to open it up and blow in it.
The NX should totally take old NES and SNES cartridges! :D
Hell, just make it a Super Nintendo and have people make new Super Nintendo games XD

So it's a copy of an old console but you can't use the old games for it. Sounds great.
Indeed!
Given the sheer number of people that linked this to me on Facebook and text messaged and etc, there is a 85% chance that someone is getting me this for xmas. Calling it now.

Hyper Nintendo would be a cool name.
I wonder why they don't have an attachment to play your old carts. It couldn't be that expensive to make...

Because they don't make any money of the old cartridges anymore.

Also if you look at the size of that thing the old carts wouldn't even fit. (I mean that machine looks to be the size of an old cart)
And thinking even for a second about the cost I also realize that it doesn't actually have a nes inside it but probably completely different and cheaper modern hardware. You need different pieces that they probably don't even have manufacturing processes for at the moment to make it work with old NES cartridges.
And then also most NES cartridges don't actually work that well anymore. At least on my old nes I tend to have to reboot the thing five-ten times while blowing a bit on it hoping for the best until it loads.
Copious amounts of rubbing alcohol on the contacts works wonders!~ on better designed consoles than the frontloader NES. The frontloader design makes it more likely for the contact pins to get physically misaligned, top loaders generally don't have that issue.
I've been fortunate with my carts, even halfdudds from ebay start consistently after lots of qtips and rubbing alcohol on the connectors. I have had a SNES blow up on me though, half my games wouldn't start, most others wouldn't work right, and I had to get a new(used) one. This was probably a decade ago too.

The market for NES carts is already batshit insane. I don't even want to think of what would happen to it if this thing actually supported carts lol.
Sounds like HDMI only. A bit unfortunate, but it makes sense for what this thing is.

I wonder about the video out options.

Thanks!
Yeah, I'd like some more options :/
It won't be able to connect online or change the game library, the games it comes with are all you get.
At least until the modding community does their magic.

I'll prob get the NES controller rerelease, I mostly play NES games on the Wii VC and I find the classic controller to be pretty eh sometimes.
