Well, if no-lynch isn't a thing then... would failing to reach a majority of votes result in a completely random death? I think you have to reinstitute nolynch to really make that work.
majority lynches are: if player gets x amounts of votes, they die. otherwise, no one dies. this is the only way they work. when did no-lynching get abolished
plurality lynches can also contain the stipulation that like, whoever has the most votes will get lynched, but that person needs to have at least 1/3 of the votes of the game on them at the end of the day. or something.
Wow, there are a lot of people signing up, sweet! (literally)
I'll sign up obviously~ This seems like it could be a wacky game with all these roles, so this should be interesting!

We are finally gonna have that huge game! Some nice variety too!
I think people have been disallowing nolynches due to the potential of stalling. I mean, the plurality lynches are bad, but at least it guarantees the game moves forward.
the game will move forward regardless as scum kill people.
Blimey, we got 15 people signing up!? O.O
Welp, okay, lemme try to adress some rule questions and stuff.
•Pancake and Watermelon Announcer both PM me each nightphase for their extralynch/messages, Butter Spreader will do it via Mafia chat so my inbox doesn't explode.
Yup, that's exactly wht I was thinking, no majourity (while it won't happen much, maybe day 1) will be no lynch, so you need to try to get a majourity of 1/3 to lynch, I know the word majourity means over 50% but we have 15 members, and 8 people is A LOT, and 5 votes is still a big chunk, but more reasonable.
No hammer either, hammer is hard to manage especially if it's during my sleep or whatever.
Um, I'll keep Bad chef as 50% since that'll be interesting and balancing any other penalty is hard!
Hmmm, 15 people, I might have to add an extra minor role or something.

Kloe might be tempted to make it a viable vote (i. e., a nolynch majority really results in no lynch...not that that would actually end up happening.).

if you make it so that you only need 1/3 of the vote to control the lynch, it becomes a lot easier for scum to win, since they only need to comprise 1/3 of the entire town (or whatever, accounting for the guy with two votes) to repeatedly turbo whoever they want upon daystart.
majority lynches don't really make sense unless it's over 1/2 of the player totals votes to lynch. 8 votes is a significant amount, but it's nowhere near unfeasible as long as town is in the right mindset, which means we'll have to kill liberty d1
players can self-police w/r/t/ the hammer. it's not a big deal if you're not around. its mostly so that dead people don't get lynched and then say "OK WELL HERES MY LAST FAREWELL LETTER WITH ALL MY SUSPICIONS THAT I SHOULD HAVE POSTED A LONG TIME AGO"

finally, an avatar that perfectly captures my essence...
Cave, hi!
I think it might be my fault for the no-lynch thing since I ran a secret ballot type game where you had to send in your lynch votes to me and no-lynching meant that your vote went against you. Maybe. It certainly caught on by then, but it was very different in set-up than a normal mafia game because there was the hidden factor behind the votes. In an open vote system like this, it can be a hindrance.
That said, it has worked decently well in past games.

Good point >.>
Okay, hmmm... welp, I'll make it so 1/2 of the alive players at the time for lynch
majority, so for example 10 players left alive, 5 votes for lynch.
I'm not sure how I'd do hammer, I'll add rule changes to the OP and I'm adding 1 role due to 15 people signing up, other than that, I guess I'll send out PMs sometime later today!

Oi! Just because I have a built-in Cave-dar don't mean you gotta kill me unless your eeeebil~ >:O
I'm just gonna have a nice relaxing game this time around. I kinda burned myself out a
I added "breadcrumbed" and "bad chef" to the sim. Announcer is modeled as an innocent (ie they immediately reveal their role and don't contribute anything else). Didn't do full modeling for the other custom roles, they seem fine and will probably balance each other out, judging by the original swing numbers for a black mage with slow only. The results, without majority voting:
town: 37.9%
mafia: 31.1%
bad chef: 4.8%
breadcrumbed: 0.1%
the flip of a coin: 26.0%
With majority voting, this becomes:
town: 40.2%
mafia: 53.7%
bad chef: 5.7%
breadcrumbed: 0.4%
Basically it means that when mafia gets to that half town half mafia state, town loses their daykill. Note that my sim doesn't model votes and assumes town randomly chooses a daykill. This is "optimal" play technically, but it's also pretty accurate at balancing town's ability to scumhunt vs scum's ability to control the dayvote. Also in three complete games I've seen RMN successfully scumhunt exactly once, so uh, there's that.

Haha, yeah. We finally got poor Kloe didn't we?
I almost thought this started. I only had 40 notices, though. It's really been that long since I've been in one of these.

Hmmm... while keeping it as is stops the flip of a coin becoming a huge factor, it does mean Town have slightly less chance than mafia, I think they might win though!
Right, all the role PMs have been sent out, (hopefully I didn't miss anyone!) and the game will start today at 6pm BST (which is 1pm EST or 10am PST), and we'll have a 12 6 hour longer day phase for the first day, just because it's starting pretty suddenly, and so nobody misses out. Thanks and I look forward to Day 1!
