OLD/LOST RPGMAKER GAMES - SEGNIN'S RARE/OBSCURE RM GAMES REQUEST TOPIC

Posts

Thanks Reincarnation ❤️

I'm gonna do a once over of the missing thread when I have some more free times.
It's just been a tumultuous year. I haven't been looking at this closely enough.
But it looks like, there's a lot more recovered here than I realized?

It's a lot of work to keep up editing the bbcode on this thread. So I think the issue was when SegNin returned, I was so excited, I just looked at what he posted on the forum, but in order to cutdown on time and work, I just tried to match what he mentioned through his posts following his return? - I didn't look at the haul closely enough that he brought onto megaupload. But it looks like most, if not all the stuff he originally uploaded, has been recovered as he mentioned back in 2022.

So I'm going to try and clean up the missing list when I have some more time.
Again, my apologies to everyone.

Thank you again for your hardwork SegNin ❤️.
thank you Darken ❤️
No problem <3 glad I could draw attention to the megaupload

Anyway I was hunting Elysian Fields (the rm2k game about Cain and Abel). (I tend to not give up when fixated on something lol) and found this facebook group for RPG infinity
https://www.facebook.com/groups/257939910133

I'm not a FB member, but if anyone at any point in future is a member of the group or can join maybe you can ask if they have archives of their old games. Think there may have been a dropbox link at some point according to cache.

Hello, I was looking for a game I've found some years ago, but at the time it was too scary for me to try. I was curious to try it again. But I can't remember the name.

I think it was quite an unknown game. It was very aggressive game with skeletons dancing and some sort of different kind of skeletons in a sort of hellish looking setting. You couldn't save unless you were able to talk to a specific skeleton and I also remember they were a screamer near the beginning.

I don't recall as well that there was a particular story or gameplay, more like exploration and random aggressive scary stuff. If anyone has any idea, what this game could be? Thank you!

Hello! Can you help me identify the title of this horror RPG game? The YouTuber Manlybadasshero played this game but I cannot remember it.

I do not know if this RPG horror game is made with an RPGMaker engine but it has the same style as most RPGMaker video games (The Witch's House, Misao, Ao Oni, etc.) such as being top-down, being anime in style, etc.

This RPGMaker horror game that I cannot remember is about a hypocritical male who treats a socially-awkward shy otaku girl very badly. The boy is an asshole to the otaku girl. As the game progresses, the players find out that the hypocritical male is actually an otaku himself who is obsessed with a cosplayer girl. Then, the hypocritical male finds out that the cosplayer girl he obsesses over is actually the otaku girl he bullies after the otaku girl revealed herself to be the cosplayer girl.

One of the endings of this game is the hypocritical male being disgusted by the fact that the cosplayer girl is actually the otaku girl he bullies which resulted in him treating and rejecting the cosplayer girl in a horrible way. This led to the cosplayer girl committing suicide. So what is the name of this RPG horror anime game?
Not sure if I should be asking about this here or if there's a better place, but I thought this might be a start. I'm looking for an old RPG Maker 2K game called One Final Scream. I ran across it on TV Tropes while browsing through the freeware games (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/OneFinalScream). It sounds interesting, but the download link is dead and I haven't had any luck finding it anywhere else. I can't even find a screenshot, so I'm starting to wonder if the game even exists.
@NoProblemsHere

Couldn't find a demo zip but it does exist: https://web.archive.org/web/20050620220959/http://www.kamain.com/games.php

edit: kamain's world forums seem to be converted and preserved, but further archival of the game's existence here anyway: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/kamainsworld/one-final-scream-is-complete-t2626.html

https://rpgmaker.net/users/SegNin/locker/dddddddd.txt segnin probably does have it though, just have to wait for him to appear.
Hi again, does anyone have a list for rm2k review sites that are no longer on clearnet (searchable).
IE: I'm asking for review sites are now in archive form whether it be geocities or otherwise. Its very hard to find them. There used to be a ton that would reviews games with CBS and CMS (custom battle system which people developed because rm2k was DragonQuest style). These are no longer findable through google search and wayback still does not allow you to search by key words.
@Reincarnation: I can't recall every site but here are some leads

https://web.archive.org/web/20051119082134/http://gamingw.net/reviews/ (surprisingly still functional clicking through a gamepage might be easier)
https://web.archive.org/web/20050308200401/http://www.blade2k.net/reviews/section_1
https://web.archive.org/web/20070223211641/http://uiv2.com/games.php?act=browse&sub=all (click through a game page with a star rating, lot of reviews seem broken though)
https://web.archive.org/web/20021127092859/http://www.radicald.com/ (don't think any of these work)
https://web.archive.org/web/20060321233812/http://rmdatabase.net/?id=games&act=game (review on game pages but dont know if their game pages even work)
https://web.archive.org/web/20050830081047/http://www.phylomortis.com/html/rev-main.html (lot of these work)
https://web.archive.org/web/20060614133549/http://rpgartisans.com/index.php?page=gamingshowcase (not really reviews, but summaries of games that might not exist?)
https://web.archive.org/web/20030211192435/http://rpgpalace.gamersuplink.com/ (RM2K Game Reviews)
https://web.archive.org/web/20011216072552/http://rpg2knet.com/articles.php?id=3 (doesn't seem to have reviews but does write about some rm2k games)
https://web.archive.org/web/20070322195450/http://www.sol-brave.net/reviews.htm

still online:
http://queenscourt.org/reviews.php
https://www.rpg-maker.fr/jeux-type-rm2000.html (in french and only really has comments but useful if you just want commentary)
http://www.monkeypro.net/games.php (has reviews in the game pages)

Best way to find these sites is to just click through the affiliate links, though it does remind me that we should get around archiving not just games but articles/reviews, or even having a clear map.

This little search has got me curious though, does anyone remember a site called cranky? bear reviews or something like that? I remember him trashing Tabernacle and praising Wild Card, but he had some interesting review commentary on rpgmaker games. From 2003-2006ish era i think.
Thank you so much, yeah I'll try with affiliates. I had 2 though they don't exist at all now.
Forgot to add this from discord cause stuff was kind of crazy back in August. My apologies alvarezemperor.

Since this is a request topic, i'd like to know anyone has the Hentaifilm.jp japanese rm2k3 games/demos, because their website died down and i'd love to have them, play them, learn from them, does anyone has and can share?

So was there any return of Ill Natured 1 in the last update? https://rpgmaker.net/games/2211/

I've been playing Ill Natured 2 and it is high quality though the story would may make more sense with the first one. First one looks to be mostly RTP based, lower quality but would be good for completion.

Found an old review for Elysian Fields. Fills out a few more details.
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021130926/http://www.skytowergames.net:80/rm2k/games/elysian_review1.html

rmdownloads has a lot of reviews for old rm2k games. Posting her for archival purpose:
rmdownloads.com

Would be nice to have complete archives of these old sites but probably long gone now unless webmasters have them on old hard drives.

Hi Reincarnation ❤️
Yes. SegNin reuploaded in 2022 under his return post. It took me awhile to get around to checking it, my apologies for the wait.

https://mega.nz/folder/ViRQVQQT#T_hpTJdSaih5rp1aI1bKIA/file/I2g3HCJL

(from the link, type in "Ill natured" in mega.nz, in the search bar at the top and it should show up.)
Ayough minna, has anyone ever figured out a way to reliably and comfortably have RTP compatibility for all the different versions of the 2000 and 2003 RTPs?

I tried downloading 3 different rm2k games from the year 2000.
I got three very different "RTP not found" warnings.

Kinda crazy. I know there's literal dozens of versions of these RTPs. There just like, HAS to be a way. I tried downloading a few but, while sure it works with a game or another it doesn't seem to raise compatibility by more than 5% while forcing me to visit all sorts of shady sites to download them.
^Just to add to Jo's post.

Brothers Arcanes Quest (Author)(RM2k3)(2000).rar is a 2k game.

that looks for a file called "royal" I remember this file being a chipset or a system window thing, back in the day? but I can't remember what it is or how I ran across it, any additional info here would be helpful here.

EDIT: Installing 2000 RTP sometimes brings up old font issues like font disappear or spacing etc - I have 2000 RTP, is there a way we can create a fan installer that'd install 2000 RTP without these issues?

EDIT 2:
Brothers (2000)
Chrono Crisis (2000)
and Sample2 (2000) / abyss driver #0

don't work.
if it's question marks it's probably the japanese/foreign RTP, the other ones could be the 1.32 RTP https://rmarchiv.de/resources/tools/rtp/7

other possibility is that they disabled the RTP themselves but didn't actually test to see if they missed any resources.

the permanent solution is to just use RM Tools http://whoopanetwork.com/rmtool/ to detect the missing resources and cross reference with https://wiki.easyrpg.org/development/rtp-database/2000-rtp and make it RTP-less though that'd be rather time consuming I suppose people are free to reupload games with the fixed RTP as they try to play them. The game files are really thrown together on a as-is basis. But it's pretty bad as more and more new users wonder why their steam RTP doesn't work on these non self reliant games.

I found Royal.png from Lord of the Rings (Author)(RM2k)(2005)(wRTP).rar

My memory of RM2000 is incredibly foggy, as I only started playing around with RM2000 around 2004.
I was too busy with school to really get into RM at that point

But I feel like, similar to SegNin solving the mystery of holiness1.wav there was a subsection of RM2000 files that everyone had used during the early 2000s, that they used alongside Don Mig's RTP?

EDIT: Yeah, I just, checked the link Darken provided. Royal.png is not part of rm2k_rtp, that's part of Don Mig's RM2000 installer.
The RM2000 RTP we have under the masterlist is actually from RMTutorials/RMRK/2DRPG.com, which doesn't have these files. I still have Don Mig's RM2000 installer (from several harddrives ago and on CDs). I'll see if I can put together a link or something that fixes these issues.

EDIT2: It'd be cool if we could create an injector that'd just, install those additional 38 files from Don Miguel's installer sans font and call it
"RTPe2: the don miguel files".
