A is for Action
What is this?A is for Action
This is the fifth of a series of Creative Writing exercises. There will be seven (7) topics/parts to the series, this being the first, and all are aimed at creation.
This fifth episode will focus on creating a action.
What are we creating?
This time, as the topic header states, we'll be creating an action. Each person who joined previously will be tasked with making one.
You'll do this like so:
- Go for a walk. Take a pad and pen with you.
- Find a few places to set up and people watch for a while. (If you can't actually get somewhere there are people or can't go outside for some reason during the week, watching some live footage of sports games, news or the like and taking notes on that will do.)
- Note down any interesting actions that you see people do.
- Pick the one that was the most unusual and use it to base an action on.
- Post that here (you can also post your notes).
- This Friday will be the deadline. That's the 29th of September.
Once your action is done, it will be added to the topic. This will be referenced at a later date. You don't need to add your observations, but you may if you wish.

Actions
Actions:
- Young girl giving a dog her lolly.
- Woman almost falls over from her heel getting stuck in a grate.
- Teen boy taking photos of a flock of galahs.
- Old man spits and nearly hits a woman walking nearby by accident.
- Little girl quietly plonks herself down in the middle of the sidewalk to force her mother to pay attention.
- Girls swinging plastic bags almost hit another girl in the face.
- Motorbike driving past startles an older lady so much that she drops her walking stick.
Chosen action: Swinging heavy plastic bags.
-A woman in an accident checking to see if the other driver was okay.
-Kids passing a football in a field.
-A crowd coming in and out of an antique mall.
-A child running into traffic and a panicked mother yanking him back by the arm.
-Three teens trying to humiliate a fast food restaurant clerk.
-A group of people standing in line at the supermarket pharmacy while the pharmacist calls out names.
-A man in a black hoodie with a gaunt face with dark circles under his eyes covered in hay walking out of the supermarket sneezing.
Chosen action: Unsavory character covered in hay, sneezing, walking out of the supermarket.

Reminder, just an action. So in the case of a kid giving a lolly to a dog, the action would be Giving a lolly to a dog. Characters and the like aren't part of it. These have to fit any story, after all, and the characters that you're handed out will be the ones using these actions in those stories, so keep them just as actions. ^.^)b
- Stuffing paper and cardboard into a fireplace.
- playing a guitar lying down.
- peeling dried mounds of paint off of a surface.
chosen action: stuffing things into a fireplace.

Actions:
-man on phone, happily ending a conversation.
-man leaning against wall, studying his phone with an incredulous air.
-man talking on his flip phone loudly with it on speaker about having found a bar that lets you smoke inside
-man relaxing with eyes closed, bag rested on his knee.
-woman sitting cross-legged, studying her phone intently.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a pen with me at the time, so I'm going strictly from memory.
Actions:
-Women sitting in waiting room chairs.
-Old-ish guy gets out of a car, then pauses in thought.
-This line at Subway just got a lot longer. Oh right, it's noon-ish.
-A person makes a stop at the volunteer Fire Department's recycling depot.
Chosen action:
-Old-ish guy gets out of a car, then pauses in thought.

Actions:
-Devout bowing at the feet of a sitting statue.
-Man takes pictures of his group who stand behind two small lucky child statues.
-Woman in an apron stands outside a kobe beef shop and attracts customers.
-Man teaches a little girl how to swim at a busy indoor pool.
-Woman pokes and prods and cleans a patients teeth in a dental office.
-Two women in yukata talk to a person outside a clothing store and then enter.
-At an office a woman answers a phone, laughs, then motions to a young man that its for him. (He seemed a bit sheepish and he went into another room with the phone, its a japanese office so I might have misconstrued it, but it seemed like it was a relative or a friend who called in and wanted to speak with him.)
Chosen action:
-Answering a phone and laughing cheerfully.
If we can use a compound action-reaction:
-Answering a phone and laughing cheerfully and passing the phone to another to answer it sheepishly.
(Could also do the bowing at the statue feet, its not weird to me, but some might find it so.)
(The cam for Osaka, Osaka was quite lively, but it had a 20 sec delay between each picture. Fukuoka was only a 2-4 second delay.)

Yes I have been wondering too, I was looking forward to the rest of this XD. I've just assumed Liberty's been extremely busy.

I've just assumed Liberty's been extremely busy.
This is my general assumption. Of course, I've also totally forgotten about it...
