I want to die. U just learned from my doctor that I have Neurofibromatosis type 1. The only good thing about it is that it is non-fatal. The bad thing is that it turns you into a disgusting ugly orc like humanoid eldritch monstrosity. I want to die. I want to end my eternal pain and suffering. But I can't. I don't know what will happen when I die. Will I go to the afterlife? Is the afterlife a happy or scary place? Will I be reborn into another body? Or will I just fade into nothing? So many questions, and so much time. I've lost the will to live and want to die, but I don't have the guts to commit suicide, along with the uncertainty of where I'll end up when I die. Please help.

I am very sorry to hear this.

However, beauty is not everything. Everyone will age and lose it at some point. You can still be an amazing person without it, and people who would think less of you aren't worth the trouble.

I hope you can find the strength to continue to live and find your way.

From what I understand, type 1 is the mildest form. From the sound of what I've read, I'm sure the doctors can keep it under control. KK, I doubt it's going to turn you hideous. Those are only the most extreme cases.
Oh no, I'm sorry!

I know it can be shocking to be diagnosed with something like that, but it'll be okay! Things like this are never as bad as you think they'll be.

Even if you do become "hideous", I doubt you think other "hideous people" should give up on life so by all means extend yourself the same compassion!

Besides, beauty is subjective anyway. Uni is right when she says it's not the most important thing! You can be a beautiful person in other ways. Possibly in more important ways!

If piano's right, I'm sure you'll be fine! <3

Wonderful words, Gourd.

We have a variation of "Things like this are never as bad as you think they'll be" up on the wall, because its a sentiment I totally need to be reminded of daily.

It's very upsetting to have to deal with the loss of your appearance; it's an important part of most people's identities, and facing the prospect of a fairly significant deformity like this one must be super scary.

However, we are not our appearance. How you look does not change your inherent value as a human, nor your talents and skills. Many, many people with deformities thrive because they recognize this.

You should see if you can find any support groups for your condition. There are almost certainly other people who have gone through the same thing you're going through, and they should be able to help you get a handle on your prognosis and get your emotions dealt with.

This is absolutely a terrible thing to happen, but it's also something that doesn't have to define your life, and you don't have to suffer alone.
That really sucks, so sorry to hear that.
You know, there are literally billions of people who are perfectly healthy, of sound mind, and have "good genes" that tend to avoid the really nasty illnesses. But for some reason, the vast majority of them spend their lives doing mediocre things, accomplishing nothing of note, and dying in obscurity.
Meanwhile, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the greatest man of the 20th century, was paralyzed from the waist down.

Sometimes it takes a critical health issue to prompt people into asking themselves "What am I doing with this life of mine?" Right now it feels like you're losing something forever, but you could also totally rebound and do something fantastic on a world historical scale while everyone else is idling away, taking their lucky stars for granted.
??? Roosevelt was the greatest man of the 20th century? :/

@Krimson Katt, Sorry to hear this. I really hope you get the support you need so you don't have to feel suicidal.

I would like to clear a few things up. First, I just learned from my mother last night that I have the SEGMENTED version meaning that I show little to no symptoms. The thing that I was talking about was called "skin tags" and I do not have since they appear from childbirth and I am 16 and do not have them. Also the suicidal feelings were short lived and lasted about an hour so there is no need to worry. Everything is under control.

EDIT: Also i'm going though the final stages of puberty so this thing tends to happen quite often for me. There is no need to worry.
I got skintags after puberty. They are weird, and sometimes painful if they get twisted. But otherwise fine.

I didn't want to say anything and seem like a jerk, but I had a feeling this was the case. Crying suicide and death when you are upset is not 'under control'. You should find better ways of gaining sympathy. And while you're at it read 'The boy who cried wolf', or alternatively watch The Simpsons S4E07 "Marge gets a job".

Kids overreact. It's what they do. Melodrama and overreaction are totally expected.
Can I use this topic in the title mashup thread then? https://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/16261/

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Same. ^.^

I'd hardly call it crying wolf. The visceral emotional reaction was real. Yeah, even when you're a kid emotions are real. Shocking I know! XD

Although, on the topic of "crying wolf", I'd rather say kind words and "be fooled" to have said them than to not say something when it's needed. Ya know?

Word, I'd probably have a similar reaction. Wouldn't post about it on a message board, personally, but honestly I'm AOK with someone feeling enough of a sense of trust and community that they come to us when they're upset.

I still remember the horror and panic as a kid when I had a weird reaction to some fabric my face had been on. I can't imagine how terrible it must feel to believe that your entire face and body are going to change in strange ways, forever. That's some existential horror shit there.
