Could anyone who's familiar with Degica's Visual Novel Maker software tell me all you can about its capabilities and limitations? I get the impression that it can be used to make (limited) RPGs or adventure games but I'm uncertain. I'm interested in the program primarily because of all of the gorgeous graphical assets available for it. As I've stated before, I'm not a huge fan of the VN genre per se.

I realize this is the second "tell me all about this program" thread I've made, and sorry. I'll try not to make a habit of it.

Anything I learn from y'all will be much appreciated, tyvm.
Honestly, I think you're thinking about this wrong.

I burnt out a bit, but it is perfectly possible to make visual novels, even on Rpg Maker 2003. Basically, you're working with a single screen and multiple backgrounds and character pictures.

Every time you get a new engine, you're wasting time learning a new system. Just figure out how to better use what you have.

I don't know what VN Maker is capable of either, though, making a visual novel has been a thought in my head for a bit. However, I do know of Sorceress Quest was made with TsuK, and has a point-and-click interface... somehow. Don't ask me how. I don't think that engine has Dyn plugin support, like TsuK3 does? I could be wrong on that point.

I feel like the person that might know best (outside of possibly Nessy) about VN Maker's capabilities is... kory_toombs? I guess?

Sorry, I guess I'm no real help ;_;
Cherry made a DynRpg Mouse and Keyboard plugin. It's hard to do hit detection because it kinda uses pixels. As for 2k, yeah I dunno.

Did it actually use a mouse? Holdon, I'm gonna download. Wow, yeah it does. It's laggy, but holy carp.

I was 95% sure it did, but, yeah, it's impressive in it's own right.

Stand back. Artist at work. I paint with enthusiasm if not with talent.

I bought TyrannoBuilder when i got the itch for making visual novels. Is slightly more basic than VNM and like 3 times cheaper.

I KNOW I could make a visual novel in Ace easily, but that's not the point: I was curious about the inverse, making an RPG in VNM.

Frankly, I just like playing around with different engines. And even more frankly:

I spoilered this because it's not very modest and could easily be mistaken for outright arrogance (which is not what I'm aiming for).

I have already mastered my primary gamedev tool, VX Ace. I don't mean that I've literally completely mastered every aspect of the program, that would be a ridiculous claim for anyone to make. But I am quite proficient and comfortable with all of its functions from basic to advanced. I know how to make it do what I want nine times out of ten and that is enough for me.
