WHAT CHARACTER DO YOU CHOOSE
Posts
Alrighty, all I want to know is:
When you are playing an RPG, what type of character do you choose to be?
I usually choose a swordsman or sniper type character.

I often pick a healer/diplomat. Or if it's more combat-oriented I tend to pick the defender-type character. Either someone who has a lot of armour and armour spells or someone who can summon things to fight instead of actually fighting. If possible the whole summoning in combination with long range sniping methods.
I hardly ever pick straight hand-to-hand/man-vs-man characters.
I guess I like ranger/bard.
Oh hell anything but fighters really. (including martial artists, paladins, or any other close combat oriented character)

I'm all about the swords baby! Mages are all right, but they annoy me when MP is low. Thieves all suck ass in my opinion. (Though Zidane was alright...)
I go for anything that deals with machinery, be it steampunk or futuristic, also mainly ranged but I won´t mind a middle term or jack of all trades character, just nothing too close combat.
Best bets are gunners, inventors, jedi knights (well lightsabers are machines, plus force for ranged stuff), androids (Phantasy Star)...

I pick the evil demon or the short dwarf. The magic girl is also kind of cool. The fire alien guy is overrated though, and the hero dude just sucks. fuck valsu aswell.
If you are talking about RPGs (Which you are)
I usually go for theif / assassin ... anything with a lot of speed actually
Any other games, I will always pick the shortest, fastest female character.
(Like Talon in Soul Caliber)
"At 4'9", Talim is the series's shortest character"

Wow, Shinan has similar tastes to me in RPG characters!
In Final Fantasy Tactics, I am all about the Mediators. I tend to like Bards, Rangers and the like.
Although in 7th Saga, I go for the Demon and the Dwarf, like Canuck does.

Talim is a bucket of win.
...Anyway.
I don't think I've ever played a (non-strategy) RPG that required the main character to choose a class,
but, in theory, probably something like an assassin, shaman, or magic swordsman.

Rouge Ninja, or Swordsmen.
And if its a rpg you normally have a team or party, so most time's I'll have my sub-charater be a Mage, for elemental damage

I prefer someone with extreme fighting abilities. Screw magic. Once you're out of MP you're pretty much done for. I have a strong belief that magic should solely be support, not for attacking, at least.. whenever I play games. I'm well aware that other people have different methods ;) I'll be a Hunter/Ranger/Archer (They end up close to the same in most games) as long as they can hold their own up close.
I'm a sword person. My best character always has a sword
I like the mage characters too. But they're to weak.
I normally prefer a mix of magic and swordsman. Paliden
Think Zelos from Tos.

I usually go for either a Barbarian type or a tank. My preference would be High physical damage and high speed, but I may go with a heavy armor/high HP type if enemies slay me easily. Self-buffs and healing is also nice, so if the healing class is fairly strong and has power ups and stuff, I may go with that one too. But otherwise, it's high power/high speed for me. I don't like having to rely on ammo/MP, nor do I like hiding and just casting spells.
I tend to love high attack and evasion. I usually go for anything with a broken combo, as well. Example:
Thanatos in P3. He had :
Fear Amp (Passive, +45% chance to inflict Fear),
Fear Boost (Passive, +25% chance to inflict Fear),
Stagnant Air (+30% chance to inflict a status ailment on those affected)
Evil Smile (Inflict Fear on all foes)
Ghastly Wail (Auto-Kill any foe with Fear status.)
That's a three-turn victory, in any battle.

Mages are NEVER too weak ... In any game, mages are the one's with the most power, Their downfall is that they require MP to attack, but other than that they are usually the strongest
I like to be Support Characters and Healers. They get much love in MMORPG's. They usually tend to be the most helpful party member.
Mages are actually weak in that their super strong
spells are mp Eaters. So when their mp is out
there regular physical atk is to weak and there
def and hp are to low.
They're not weak as in bad i just mean
they're not good for a single player character.
