WHAT CHARACTER DO YOU CHOOSE

If it's a sword based medieval fantasy setting, whoever can use a gun.
If it's a modern, gun based setting, whoever can use a sword/katana.
Seriously, I prefer mages, rogues, and snipers but I play all types of characters.

Lol so in Fallout 3 I take it you were the Chinese Officer sword wielder?
I like me some speed and the ability to hit twice in a go. So ninjas are my best bet, though I'll play a long distance character over a melee type.
Though if I have to go melee, give me a polearm of some type so I have a longer reach. ^.^

Exactly. With one of my characters. Until she found the Shishkebab and Vampire's Edge.

I was thinking about getting the shishkebab, I keep hearing good things about it

Spellblades, magic swordsman, Mystic Knights, etc...
Oh yeah, forgot about these. FF5 mystic knights = epic win

Had a tendancy to go by that in tabletop/board rps. But in games nowadays, even the most futuristic settings have swords as most common weapons so I still chose guns, cannons, launchers or my favourite: Magic/Ether guns :)
I prefer samurai + mage dwarves. Of course though there's only a few games in which this is possible.
I also like having a fast female elf that fights with little armor on for aesthetic reasons.
I do usually go for rogues (especially in a game like oblivion) or mages though. With a high level mage you make a big flash and maybe a boom that kills everyone. There's no satisfaction like turning your enemies into dust.

as big a brute as possible. Typically they have enough strength to anal rape any mage or sniper, and they can take the hits pummelling him along the way to said weakling. Plus it's funny when they hold giant axes that would decapitate a small whale if it wanted.
I usually choose assassin/acrobat/rogue. Sneaking/stealth/access/poisons/indirect lethal damage suits my play style the best.
Causes tough times sometimes when placed in direct melee combat with some brutes, though.

I tend to vary, but most of the time i choose the swordsman type. Hack n' slash, sometimes it feels easier than watching your mp and stock of potions. I still have a fresh memory of that time in diablo 1 where started as a mage and i had to change to Figther halfway through the game. At the end my figther surpassed the mage's level with half of the time :s I didn't learn from it though, same thing happened in diablo 2 with sorcerer / barbarian.
A warrior with some healing abilities (normally the Paladin classes) because I like to be able to KNOW that if the party is down my hero can look after himself and dish out some real non-mp draining damage.
1st place: 2-handed swordsman with a focus on strength and heavy armor. Lots of sword skills, relies on power, not finesse.
2nd place: Sword + board Paladin type, defense oriented with buffs
3rd place: Mystic Knight/spellsword, elemental weapon skills

I personally like mystic knights, but with more melee then magic. Therefore, I can be tanking then I get hurt, I can heal, then counter with a element the monster is weak against.
