[MAFIA] SPY VS. MAFIA II DAY 3

killing jeroen for no reason would be the ultimate power move
Nah, that's not his scum MO. He plays the same in a real-life card game that has no semblance to this game whatsoever, and he plays the same way as mafia or town in that real-life game. It has no bearing on this game whatsoever.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I was halfway convinced that something terrible was going to happen at the end of the day and the double agent would be involved. I guess the only thing that happened is that we voted badly. Or... voted goodly but scum was bulletproof.
I agree with Cave that the tipping point against Cap_H was the last-minute fake-sounding bulletproof cake. Especially when I had an item that was just a worse version of that. It's not like that was the only thing against him, but with that out of the way I'm more inclined to go back to voting for Psy.
I will also say this. I think Cave would be fucking with Jeroen in scum chat. He would invent some scheme, or try to make deals, or just take advantage of it for misdirection. Silence doesn't sound like his style.

I would probably say nothing ever and treat my scumbuddies as disposable assets like usual

Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

I can't imagine the final scum wants to win with Jeroen, I did half expect to see Jeroen night killed. Which does suggest whomever is the final scum that they're very much on the lynch radar.
On the other hand, a win is a win and why risk it?
I already said everything there is to say about scum chat. Killing me would give town more time to hunt and be directly going against their win condition. I assumed final scum was rational enough not to do that. There was a possibility they might still try, but I have a bulletproof vest item so I wasn't scared regardless. Seems I was correct and Maxwell isn't a vindictive ass though.

One thing to note. Since Odd knows Milk irl, they should live in the same time zone. So if Odd's had the opportunity to post this day phase, Milk should also have had the opportunity. Which means he's still not engaging with the thread even now.

Yeah, let's see that ultra aluminum trombone show up (inb4 it contradicts a previous trumpet result).
If either you or Fomar got hit by a 10% false result and is actually scum, then gg, I'll win with you tonight. I'm going to trust the tuba though.
I don't think we have much to discuss today before the tuba spawns again. piano, if it's going to spawn today, can you spawn it early?

Well, in the meantime.
Cave, can you give me all the 2D projections of your hypercube so I can actually read it?

Should be only 4 choose 2 = 6 pictures, so that shouldn't take too long.

Yeah, we need either the tuba or Milk to show up. Preferably both.

So, just thinking about game balance in a slightly noobish way, the idea that scum had a lynchproof cake and town had a protection ability to make someone nightkill-proof seems balanced.
But of course Jeroen was convinced that without any items, town's win rate was below 20%. If you are looking at it that way, then town having a protection ability and scum having nothing makes more sense.
So if we try to metagame how likely it is that the bulletproof cake would be given to scum, we first have to decide whether Pianotm was primarily thinking about this game's balance in terms of town vs. scum, or in terms of agents vs. scum. Which is something that I'm not sure I can get into his head enough to do.
The third possibility is that Pianotm does not care about game balance, or that he rolled all items randomly, and so attempting to solve the problem by metagaming is a waste of time. And I guess rolling all items randomly is probably my actual guess for how he'd run this game, based on the items like the tuba and my tapdancing shoes that change owners each day. But I wanted to bring up this line of thinking in case anyone else wants to run with it and has additional insights.

If that's the case, then we probably don't have any good way to act on the new info about the setup that we got last night.
Someone should do a deep dive of CAVE_DOG_IS_BACK's posts.

It was Psy who was convinced of town's low win rate. What he said sounds a bit low to me, but about right. My simulator for Avalon also gave low town win rates if Mordred wasn't in the game.
Demon had an item though, a potted ficus. It was a doublevote item.

Jeroen, did you have an item, I can't remember?
And, then, oh, it might be LockeZ, then, just based on the theme of manipulating votes. Or his power was meant to negate Demon's hammering item.

Like I said, I have a bulletproof vest. It's why I wasn't afraid of scum not wanting to win with me.
If items were distributed at random then there can't be a theme, but I don't know if they were or not.

the only person who loses if they alone die being given a vest implies some degree of deliberate design
