Playoff Update:

The Montreal Canadiens continue their red hot streak of dominance as they not only manage to pick up their seventh straight win after being down 3-1 to the Leafs, but they manage to defeat the Winnipeg Jets by Sweeping them right after the Jets swept the Oilers in the 1st Round (- The reverse sweep!). They will now go on to play either the Colorado Avalanche or Vegas Golden Knights in the Conference Finals.

Addit, Kory_Toombs and UPRC all managed to pick up 2 Points each for predicting that the Canadiens would come out on top on this one. Kentona managed to savage A Single Point for predicting that series would go to a sweep (…but he picked the wrong team... *sad face*).

Everybody manages to gain a little bit of ground on Kentona after the Canadiens win, but he still has a double digit lead going into the latter half of the playoffs. (- Can he possibly hold on???)

The best part about the Canadiens winning as that with each win that they get - and the farther that they go - the more tears that Leaf fans will shed, lol (especially if they manage to win the Stanley Cup).

I don’t think they’ll be able to beat Vegas or Colorado in the next round though...but you never know…!!!

I'm inclined to say the same thing, but this was already said about them in the first and second round and... well... here they still are!

Definitely not complaining that the Habs are still going, but:

Playoff Update:

The Carolina Hurricanes couldn’t manage to weather the storm that is the defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning as they take care of their crosstown rivals in 5 Games and will now await the winner of the Boston Bruins / New York Islanders series in the Conference Finals.

Addit, Kory_Toombs and UPRC all managed to pick the Lightning to prevail in this one and each earn themselves 2 Points in the overall standings. However, UPRC also managed to successfully predict that the series would go to five and earns himself an extra 2 for 4 Points total.

- Kentona’s lead is starting to slowly slip away, as UPRC is now only 5 Points back of him for the overall lead. Kory_Toombs is now currently in sole possession of 3rd Place - finally breaking away from UPRC after all of this time - and Addit is currently in last.

Pour one out for those poor Canicas. They tried their best but it just simply wasn't enough... (- But hey, at least they beat Nashville!)

And I can't believe that Vegas managed to escape tonight with a win - YES!!!

I thought that with the way that Colorado was playing tonight, buzzing around and being up 2-0 before the start of the 3rd period, especially with that last second goal by Saad with 0.8 seconds left in the 1st that Vegas was probably boned... But hey, they found a way to come back and managed to win in overtime! Now I just need one more win and we're back in business!

If they somehow - someway - manage to get past the Avalanche or the Golden Knights in the next round and beat ‘em then they should be able to get past the Lightning, Bruins or Islanders no problem! It’s a tall task for sure but they just keep continuing to prove everybody wrong and simply won’t die. They’re like a giant cockroach (and I love it).

Definitely not complaining that the Habs are still going, but:

This is all Toronto’s fault! They had a chance to seal away their demons for good and now that very same demon, which is dressed in red and has an colorful orange beard to it, is now wreaking havoc all across the land! They should have killed it while they had the chance.
I might have a perfect bracket in the second round....

Playoff Update:

The New York Saints manage to pour it on in the late stages of the game to dispatch the injury-riddled Boston Bruins in 6 Games and will now go on to face the Tampa Bay Lightning, once again, in the Conference Finals for the second straight year.

The only one who managed to pick the Islanders in this one is Addit, who not only scores but also scores himself his very first perfect (finally!) and gets himself a crucial 4 Points in the overall standings. Kory_Toombs and UPRC also managed to both pick up A Single Point (their first ones thus far) for predicting that the series would go to six.

Kentona is now suddenly starting to feel the heat as the rest of his rivals are starting to catch up! As he’s now only 6 Points back himself from being in dead last. There’s also now a single point gap separating second place to last place - meaning that anybody can still win this thing!

I can’t believe it took me this long to finally get one perfect. (But what a great time for it to happen!)

I’m also no longer in last place any more thanks to the Islanders winning last night as Kory can take over that spot for me for all I care (- Here, have it!).

I know I shouldn’t probably count my chickens as of yet, as Colorado could still probably come back to take it, but if Vegas manages to win the series either tonight or on Saturday for Game 7 it’s starting to feel a LOOOTTT like last year repeating itself again: where I had a TERRRRRIBLE start...did extremely well in the second round, along with my Stanley Cup Team pulling it out of their ass, somehow, and ended doing well the rest of the way through to win the pool after being down by double-digits in the beginning. If that happens again, I don’t know what to say!

I might have a perfect bracket in the second round....

I...think I know your strategy:

Playoff Update:

The Colorado Avalanche tried their darndest to force a game seven and bring it back home to Denver but it simply wasn’t enough as the Vegas Golden Knights managed to hang on to defeat the Avalanche in a wildly entertaining 6 Games. They will now play the Montreal Canadiens starting on Monday in the Conference Finals.

Addit is the only who managed to believe in the Golden Knights and earns himself 2 Points in the standings, and because the Golden Knights are also his Stanley Cup Team - those points are then doubled to a total of 4 Points! Kentona also manages to pick up A Single Point for predicting that the series would go to six.

At the conclusion of the second round, Kentona is still holding on to first place but his lead has now shrunk to just a messily 2 Points as Addit is right on his heels…! UPRC and Kory_Toombs, despite them being down a bunch, aren’t officially out of it yet as they could still find a way to make a possible comeback and steal it in the end!

- It’s still anybody game!

Okay, time to go radical and vote against what everyone else will pick (since that's the only way I can probably score more points).

Canadiens over Knights in 6.
Islanders over Lightning in 6.

Lightning over Golden Knights in 7

Whoa…! Jumping the gun a LITTLE bit too early there, bud - lol, you got both series backwards! Did you mean Montreal over Vegas in 4 and then Tampa Bay over New York In 7? (I’m thinking that’s probably what you meant.)

And speaking of which, I think it’s high time for me to finally put my picks down for the Conference Finals. This was actually a pretty tough decision…

Golden Knights Over Canadiens In 6
Obviously I have to vote for Vegas in this one in order to potentially leapfrog Kentona in the standings - and maybe even flat out just win the pool if I can get the number of games right too - but the question is...how many games will Montreal make it to??? I doubt it will go seven, or Vegas winning it in a sweep, but it could go either to five or six, and I’m picking the six in this one. I have a dumb feeling that Vegas is going to go up 3-1 in the series, then it will go back to Vegas with a chance to move on to the Stanley Cup Finals, Montreal manages to win Game 5 by the skin of their teeth, putting a little bit of doubt that Vegas can’t close out series’ when they’re up 3-1, and it even gives a Montreal a bit of a storyline that maybe they can come back from 3-1 down again, and then that’s when Vegas finally shuts the door and puts their doubters in place.

Lightning Over Islanders In 7
This one could actually go either way...but I’m sticking with the Lightning in this one. Yes, yes, the Islanders did lose to the Lightning last year in the Conference Finals, so they have a little bit of that revenge factor going in, and Victor Hedman, Tampa Bay’s best defencemen, is playing through an injury, but I still think that the Lightning should be able to win this one. (Plus, before we even did the pool, I had Vegas and Tampa Bay in the Stanley Cup Final with Vegas winning it, so I’m going to continue to stick with that.)

Still waiting on the grand master (Kentona) to make his selections, but:

Conference Finals:
(1) Vegas Golden Knights V.S. (4) Montreal Canadiens
(2) Tampa Bay Lightning V.S. (3) New York Islanders

For anybody else who still wants to participate, or for all those who haven't done so yet, I’ll need everyone’s Conference Finals picks in by Thursday, June 17th @ 5:00 P.M. P.S.T., 8:00 P.M. E.S.T., basically before the start of the Tampa Bay / New York Game 3.

Hey, the bracket doesn't make sense to begin with. The NHL doesn't follow the same thing they did before with the conferences..... It's too confusing...

But sure, I can't vote for the Golden Knights no matter what.
It's time to go for the crazy upset, it's the only way forward.

Montreal over Knights in 4
Tampa over Islanders in 7

Ok purposely didnt look at scores or highlights. (I was busy all weekend).

Islanders over Lightning in 6
Knights over Canadiens in 4

Yeah, the Bolts are super strong but rely on a killer PP and the NY Saints and their systematic defense will win championships!

And having Jets sweep Oilers, then get swept by Canadiens, it only makes sense to have them be swept by Vegas!!

Montreal actually played better than I thought last night. I thought that they would get destroyed in the first game because of the long layoff, first time playing in front of a massive crowd in almost a year and a half, and going against a more competent team - but they did well!

I mean…sure they did lose 4-1, so it was kinda of an ass-kicking, but it looked they could hang with Vegas in this series no problem.

Well, at least next year they're going to go back to the old format with the old divisions again (...unless another Covid outbreak happens), so everything should go back to normal for next year.

(Well...besides Seattle joining the Pacific Division and having Arizona move to the Central Division.)
