NHL 2021 STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS / POOL PREDICTION THREAD ~ KENTONA'S REDEMPTION ~

Damn it, Vegas! You had this game literally in the bag, and you even outshot them too by almost triple and you blew it!!! More importantly, Fleury blew it. You only had to kill two more minutes in the game and you would have had it!
*sigh* Oh well... On to the next one.

Saying this not even as a Habs fan but just a hockey fan, damn glad that Vegas lost. The officiating was so bad. Vegas has gotten away with some at least 5-6 obvious penalties in the last two games now including this:
Even Bieksa was throwing shade at the refs during the intermissions for missing obvious Vegas penalties. The r/hockey subreddit is united against their hate for Vegas and the refs, and when an entire subreddit agrees on something? That's impressive.

Whoa, Tampa, slow down!!! Save some of that offence for Game 6 and a possible Game 7, no need to overexert yourselves like that.
Geez, what the hell happened to the Islanders today??? I know that there's still one more period left to go and all, but we're getting extremely close to crunch time now in the series. You can't have a game like that where you get so utterly destroyed so close to the end and expect to come out on top. (Unless this is all part of the master plan, of course, lol.)

Damn it, Vegas, why do you have to make things so bloody difficult for yourselves!? LOOK WHAT YOU’VE DONE!!!
On the plus side, though, at least Pacioretty scored…?
(Yay…???)
Look, I know that Vegas still has the ability to pull it out the end and this could all be for nothing, but...what the hell happened to this team in the last two games??? Their offence, especially with their top 6, has completely dried up, there doesn’t seem to be as much tenancy as they had before, and Montreal just looks like the more hungrier, more better team than them as of late, especially with their forecheck and overall defensive play. I knew that this wasn’t going to be easy for them to do, but…damn... And the amazing thing is that for Games 1 to 3 they were basically outplaying the Canadiens! (Are they tired, or something?)
IF Montreal happens to win in the next two games and knocks Vegas off, it truly is an amazing story and it’s hard NOT to vote for them in the Stanley Cup Finals coming up as they have everything going their way right now. Plus, it would be pretty nice to see a Canadian team finally win the Stanley Cup for the first time in 28 years considering how close the Flames, Oilers, and the Canucks were all those years ago. And, it would be pretty funny to see the Toronto Maple Leaf fans reactions when their long-time rivals win a Stanley Cup before they happen to win ONE playoff series, lol.

I don't know, I'd argue that the only game where Vegas looked better almost the whole way through was game 1. Game 3 (I think?) started really well for Vegas on the first period where they had like 20 shots to Montreal's 3 or something, but the rest of the game was much more even with Montreal winning the game. If you're going to dominate a period thst hard and still lose the game, you need to ask yourself and the rest of the team a lot of questions.
Habs have got this. They've quietly been an underdog all playoffs long. People keep doubting them, but they're just getting better and better the deeper they go. That said though, Tampa will be a real challenge for them. Price and Vasilevskiy are performing similarly, so the boys in front of the nets will be the real decides and the top five players in points are all Tampa at the moment. It's going to be a hard series for the Habs, but I'm still going to put my money on them. I'm not winning this thing, so I'm backing the Habs in the final round. What kind of Habs fan would I be to bet against them!?

Actually…you could still win this thing.
If Tampa Bay wins tonight and Montreal happens to take care of Vegas tomorrow, then I would currently be in the lead with 26 points, Kentona would then be 1 point behind me for second, and you would then be 2 points behind me for third. Kory would then be 5 points back of me and would instantly be eliminated, as there no possible way for him to come back after that.
There's also a scenario where if Montreal wins tomorrow and New York happens to come back and win the series in seven, then Kentona would still be in the lead by 1 point over myself and you for second place.
There are also only two scenarios where someone can instantly clinch the whole thing: myself if the Canadiens can win in 6 and Tampa Bay wins in 7, or Vegas wins in 7 and Tampa Bay wins in 7 (although Kentona still has an outside chance to tie me and share first place). Also, Kentona wouldn’t clinch, but he would have a 3 point lead over myself and UPRC for second if the Canadiens happen to win in 7 and the Islanders win in 7.
And as for last, Kory can only clinch it if the Canadiens win in 6 and the Islanders win in 7. Otherwise, it’s still up in the air.

My curse for teams I want to win is growing too powerful
Stop doing that - PICK THE OPPOSITES!!!
And if you somehow manage to bumble your way into winning this thing, I swear to god…
So the Islanders managed to survive, somehow, for yet another day…
I also found it funny that they got the same officials from that lovely Vegas and Montreal Games 3 and 4, and - whaddya know - Nikita Kucherov gets cross-checked right in front of the referee - right in the ribs - and he didn’t manage to see it…(despite the fact that he was, literally, right there.)
And now he’s injured…
(...Greeaaaaatttt...)
(Although I suppose this is karma for me for having those guys help Vegas out in Game 4 when they had no business winning...so I'll let this one slide.)

Also - holy schnikes, it took long enough…but we finally have a chance for someone to get officially eliminated tomorrow (uhhh…besides Vegas).
The rest of us, however, are safe (…for now...). * muahahahaha *
- IF...Montreal can happen to close out their series with Vegas tomorrow and take it in Game 6 - Kory_Toombs will then be officially eliminated, as, regardless of who wins Game 7 between the Lightning and the Islanders, he’ll be too far back in the standings to mount any type of comeback.

Playoff Update:
It was Artturi Lehkonen who scored in the first minute and thirty-nine seconds into overtime as the Montreal Canadiens continue their magical storybook run as they defeat the Vegas Golden Knights in 6 Games and advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 28 long years...! They will now fly into either Tampa Bay or Long Island for the start of Game 1 of the Stanley Cups Finals starting on Monday.
Both UPRC and Kory_Toombs’ gamble payed off, as they both collect themselves a vital 2 Points in the standings to keep their heads right above water. UPRC also managed to predict that the series would go to six, so he managed to get 4 Points on the night.
And despite Vegas letting him down, Addit still managed to pick up A Single Point, which doubles to two (because the Golden Knights are his Stanley Cup Pick), for also predicting that the series would go to six as well.
Things are suddenly starting to get REAL tight now as both Addit and Kentona are now currently tied for first place in the standings with 24 Points each with UPRC now only 1 Point back of them for third overall with two more matchups left to go!
And unfortunately, despite getting some much needed points tonight, Kory_Toombs is now officially eliminated, as no one can do him any more favors from here on out.
- The Bracket, Leaderboard and Thread have now all been updated!
...Damn it… At least I got some points out it... Better losing now than in Game 7 and giving me diddly-squat.
- So it allllll comes down to this...(maybe...):
- IF...Tampa Bay happens to win tonight, then I, Addit, would officially clinch the title for a second straight year with Kentona having an outside chance to tie me for first place overall in the final series. (But I don't like sharing...)
- BUT...if New York happens to win, then Kentona would have a 1 point lead going into the final series over myself and UPRC for second place with all three of us having a chance to win the whole thing in the end... Kory, however, would officially clinch the Ashamed Fan Award for last place if the Islanders should happen to win.
So, either way - someone's winning somethin' tonight!!!
(But who...???)

SCF Prediction:
Montreal over TBD in 6 games. Put me down for that regardless of who they're against.
Also curse having to write this on mobile. I cannot properly express my happiness on a stupid touch screen.

I mean, how could you NOT vote for your hometown team in the Stanley Cup Finals, regardless, right? I would do the same thing if the Canucks ever got back there again.
Also, UPRC, were you downtown during the celebration last night?

I hope Montreal wins it all, so I should bet against them here to guarantee it. Mostly, though, I love it because of all the "North Division is weak!!" crap all season long.
