You don't need to draw in FFVIII ever (except to get GFs). In fact, drawing as your primary method of getting magic is woefully inefficient compared to your other options.
Do Explain, I'm just about to go get Ifrit. Also Ive already got almost all the monster cards, Quistis card and MiniMog, I forgot how fun the card game was in this game though.

Card Mod. Refine cards into items, and then refine those items into magic. That's the absolute best way to get magic. The rarer the card, the better the item, and the better the magic (you can get rare cards back). Barring that, refine items into magic via other GF abilities, and refine lesser items into better items to refine them into better magic.

Fuck, you can max out everyone's HP at the very beginning of the game by continuously refining a chain of curative items into Tents, and then turning those Tents into Curagas. Bam, 9999 HP in the first 1% of the game.

Granted, I don't like to destroy the challenge like that, but the opportunity is there; Card Mod and refining Items into magic via the other GF abilities turns the Junction system into a one way trip to maxed stats on Disk One. The only time you should have to Draw is to get GFs. Other than that it's almost, with a few exceptions, entirely and utterly unnecessary to Draw in order to get whatever magic you need/want.

I shall take your advice and get that Card Refining ability! BTW How do you get rare cards back? I always thought they were a one time thing.
Currently replaying Valkyrie Profile 2 and Suikoden 5. I'm alternating titles per day. Never finished suiko 5 maybe third times the charm!

Duel the card queen and win. Shes got most of the cards iirc.
I'm currently playing Wild ARMS 1. I hate it when a village banishes a hero for their own fear and stupidity. It's not a horrible plot device, I just hate it so much!
I have officially decided the world of Phoenix Wright is completely and utterly insane, although the threats in Recipe for Tournabout's second investigation phase made me laugh a fair amount, with the end of the convo near enough making me fall out the chair with laughter.

On the side of sanity though, the way the murders are commited seem to be pretty normal and realistic, with the odd strange one (Case 3 of Justice for All I'm looking at you!)

There's a card queen? This card refining is taking awhile, and since I don't like this game much anymore it's even worse. But I'll get there.
The Queen of Cards is a cheating bitch. Never play against her unless you love reloading your save and being kicked in the balls. Refine expendable cards, keep the rares if you're interesting in the card game (otherwise refine them all).

If you're looking for a challenge don't ever junction magic to stats.

Pace yourself. Don't just sit there refining cards for hours at a time, dude.

Haven't played Torchlight. Is it any good? I love Warcraft 3, think that Lego games are overused now, and Dragon Quest IX intrigues me. But why did you bold it?
If you're eagerly waiting for Diablo 3, torchlight is worth a shot. If you liked Diablo 2, it's worth a shot. If you like mindless monster bashing, it's worth a shot.
Well what about if I'm waiting for Torchlight 2? Is it worth a shot, then? :P

Torchlight is dungeon hacking without any frills except really nice cartoony graphics. There... really isn't much to Torchlight.

If you need a real fix, I suggest Sacred 2 since it's only $20 and pretty fun (the story is about nothing but bad plumbing, but you don't play dungeon hacks for stories, do you?).

Dragon Quest IX is in bold because it is amazing.
I actually did own Sacred 2 at one point...I couldn't get into it. Something about it felt off.

On the Dragon Quest IX note, I'll probably use the money I got back from my failure to get RPG Maker XP to get it.

It's not an AMAZING game, but it's decent filler.
Mafia 2, aside from the crappy mouse controls, the crappy controls, and the repetitive gameplay; it's pretty good! Oh wait...

(Would have been better off as a movie)

One of my favourite parts of the demo was that it let you do all kinds of useless stuff like open windows and turn on taps.
I've been playing, Rengoku 2: The Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N., lately. I never played the first one, but I got the second one off PSN, because, from what I've heard, the second one is supposed to be quite a bit better than the first.

It's a pretty fun game with a neat combat system, I especially like how many different weapons you can find throughout the game, and how you can equip them to different parts of the body.
So I got bored and decided 'Let's see if my laptop can handle Morrowind!'

Thankfully it can, though not with the billion and odd mods to improve the graphics I wanted to use, so I guess I'll wait till I've built my own PC for that. In anycase, been playing with a rather mage-focused class, with minor skills in all form of armour (Including unarmoured) and blunt weapons, which means I have SOME form of close combat ability (Even if I have a tiny 35 HP at level 1)
