MODIFY::ACTUAL POST

Karsuman and I have been playing Astral Masters recently. It's $10, but worth it--you get all cards from the get-go, but you have to earn the right to build expensive decks in the AI leagues and multiplayer (separate EXP in each mode)--you can use any strength you want in single-player non-league/tournament duels, however, versus 5-6 different levels of AI. There are also FIVE BILLION strategies in the game.

FIVE BILLION.

It is incredible and a worthwhile investment.

I'm having mixed feelings about Suikoden Tiekreis; after finding out that I've missed a Starbearer permanently and won't be able to recruit him I've lost all motivation for "catching em' all". Not to mention how hilariously easy this game is.

Messing around with different character combinations is proving to be pretty fun, though.

Let me guess, Wustum? Yeah, I can understand losing motivation if you can't have all of them but seriously the reward for getting all 108 is SO RIDICULOUSLY NOT WORTH IT. Which is a shame, because most other Suikodens made it worth your while in at least some small way. :(

Man I never really messed around with that many people, though... I just chose Logan, Sisuca and Zahra really early and ended up sticking with them forever (well... very occasionally swapped in Icas and two minor spoilers), that's not in the spirit of Suikoden. :-\

I still think it'd be infinitely better with a six-person party.

Nakil. And I couldn't really be bothered getting 108 anyway but the fact that I won't be able to is...disheartening. :(

Holy fuck thunderstorm

EDIT: I thought this was the "what are you doing right now" thread oh well still this thunderstorm is amazing.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Why wasn't it six-players anyway? I think they would easily fit on the screen, but maybe since the game is so horribly unbalanced
(thanks Hero/Fredegund/Chrodechild/Diadora or anyone else with Healing Wave)

I just picked up a game called Opoona for the Wii.

When I first saw the game, I was a little leery about buying it - not wanting to get roped into a game designed for children. I waited to find a used copy, and eventually my prayers were answered when my fiance walked up to me in EB and said "this looks neat" holding a used copy.

I'm about 5 hours in, and I must say I'm really impressed. Basically you're a family of a species of space guardians who are taking a vacation on another planet, when your ship crashlands on it, separating you all. You play as the eponymous character, and have to take up a job as a monster killer to get by (or others if you feel like it, the amount of jobs is apparently vast and amusing). The battle system is neat and fun, and you can play the game one handed if you want. The world of the game seems VERY fleshed out, to the point where I'm amazed that they bothered to put in the details. It has an Earthboundish feel.

One thing to note, you'll want to play non-stop until you get to the next town, as you'll want a map of the starting town quite thouroughly ingrained in your head - it's very easy to lose your way. MEMORIZE IT.

Legend of Mana for PSX, a classic among RPGs. The soundtrack always brings a tear to my eye everytime I play. :'(

I know what you mean. Usually, for those kinds of games I just leave them for lack of story, but I never felt that way with LoM. Those poor Jumi (;_; )
Holy shit Sonic 2006 is the damn scariest game I've played in a long time. You never know just when you'll suffer a complete loss of control/try and avoid and go flying off the world/something suddenly falls on you killing you instantly/arbitrary deaths.

Started Star Ocean 4 which is also horrifying but in a different less ohgod kind of way

*edit*
Forgot furry love story in Sonic 2006 which is its own kind of jesuschrist terrifying

The songs fit perfectly with the dark stories in Legend of Mana, Yoko is a musical genius.

Anyway...

Playing at the moment: Megaman X6, X8 and Digimon World 3/2003.

This Digimon game isn't bad at all, I was expecting a big mess like other Digimon games I have played. It's funny, the game reminds me of the one for DS with the caterpillar system, but the battling is way too boring on the DS Digimon game. What a let down.

Okay I'm reading this and I'm like WHAT. I played that game years ago and every time I got the first battle outside of town, it was just like

- Select 'attack' but get attacked and die before I get the chance
- Send out next Digimon
- Select 'attack' but get attacked and die before I get the chance
- Send out next Digimon
- Select 'Flee' but get attacked and die before I get the change
- Game Over

:(

I have pretty much always maintained that it was a very bad game, even though I was a lot younger and so obviously mentally unhinged and CLEARLY doing something wrong. It's just funnier to have this image of a maddeningly impossible game in my head.

Also I absolutely loved the first Digimon World game when I was younger, but am completely willing to accept that it was pretty bad.

Waou! Digimushrm
Always head East straight afterw leaving town, if not you're pretty much destroyed. The lack of direction is terrible, but I like the battle system.
Man, I did always head east. The furthest I ever got was halfway through the forest. :'(

I do remember the beach to the southwest was instant death, as well. I think maybe I just needed to stick very very close to the town and level for a bit. Again, when I was about 13/14, hanging around and levelling was an alien concept so yeah!

oh god geodude and neok in the same topic

What, is this taboo now?

Currently playing: Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier

Otherwise known as the boobs game. The gameplay is actually surprisingly sophisticated, and it does a lot of neat things that I think I might wanna ShARANGIN at one point in the future. PLUS it is a goodness to realness semi-futuristic RPG for the DS, which has not been bastardized into a tactics strategy game.

Which is weird considering Super Robot Taisen is known for that kinda thing.. What's with the RPG <-> Strategy genre swapping that's been happening to so many DS games?

I GET IT NOW !! =D
Yeah, I always pronounced it Knee Ock.

Anyways, I just picked up UFC Undisputed. It's a great game, lots of fun, and should hold me until Fight night round 4 is released :D.

Seriously, if anyone else picks up UFC, let me know. I've been dying to try live.
