CloseIts the same with a lot of MMORPGs. A guy on another forum has spent nearly a year playing FF11. As in time spent actually online playing FF11. Its insane and kinda scary how addicting it can be. :(

Fanboys of Console get on my nerves like crazy (even though I am a Nintendo Fan extreme Nintendo fans bug me too) It seems like PS3 fans will do anything for attention....seriously...watch a video supporting the WII on youtube then read comments half are from diehard Nintendo fans and the half are from Murderous PS3 fans...lol it made me laugh mostly though

I can't understand why people are obsessed with WOW. It's... a repetitive RPG that doesn't end. But then again that could just be my problem with MMORPGs as a whole.
It's like a drug. Your friends play it once and you never see or hear from them again.
The addiction (from someone who was an MMO addict) comes from the fact that it's both open-ended and competitive. Since there aren't stories, there's no way to ever "finish" an MMO - the only thing you can do is keep leveling to get better/as good as your friends.
For example, I'd be sitting around playing FFXI and saying "I'm just going to get to level __." Well, once I'd found a party (which takes upwards of 3 hours in all but the best circumstances), and ding'ed, I'd say, "well, while I'm here, I'll just get level __+1." But there's no limit... you just keep saying, well, I'll stop when I hit the next level, level after level...
And when you hit cap, you need to do all the quests to get all the special armor and be the biggest badass.
And once you hit "biggest badass" status... that's when the game's magic wears off. OR YOU JUST MAKE ANOTHER CHARACTER :'(

Or hell, look at Warhammer Online fans. Oh look, a crucial pillar of the game is broken : "SCREW U GUYZ ITS ONLY BEEN OUT FOR FIVE MONTHS GIVE THEM TIME TO FIX IT".
MMORPGs used to be a drug; but after a staggering amount of time; people have finally begun to figure out it's a artificially lengthened sham. Well, some people.
Certain attempts to deviate from the boring formula have been made (Warhammer Online) but they've largely ended in failure. Vanguard, LOTRO, Warhammer, Age of Conan, WoW, interchangeable time sinks. People perform menial tasks in them that even they themselves admit aren't fun (Rep grinds) yet they continue to play, AND PAY FOR IT.
Darkfall is next up the bat, the supposed next big thing. After the latest two failed evolutions, and the large amount of red flags raised by the over-secretive and green horn developer : Aventurine - most REASONABLE people are skeptical. Skeptical of what? Of the long list of too good to be true features the game promises.

i love how people hate popular things it makes me smile (i do too so i guess i smile at myself) I hate people who like flowers!! They always talk about how pretty and fragrant they are and diss on other peoples flowers and they go on and on!!! How can they be so retarded! Only a true retard would argue about how someone elses flow is retarded more than theres!!! seriously!!!!!!!!!! (i think that was a random burst of random sorry lol)

Being the next steaming pile of shit that idiotic teenagers drool over despite shoddy writing is exactly what Twilight is. I see it completely.
Except I read and enjoy HP. I tried to read Twilight, vomited repeatedly, then returned the book to the library post-haste.
