I thought that IX, IV, and Vi were some of the best Final Fantasy's. Especially IX, which was my personal favourite out of all the FF's. I just it's music, characters, and...everything! Just had this certain feel which drew me in.

I've actually never played IX, but head so many good things about it.
I need to get some kind of emulator or something and play that game!
There was only one final fantasy that i never liked and that was XI. I was glad that XII was nothing like that.
IX is horrible. Seriously. It's almost worse than VIII, and VIII was really bad.

Unless you're going by the first disc only, because that was passable if you ignored the battles.

I've heard so many good things about IX I doubt it's "horrible" ... maybe that's just your opinion.
I do agree with VIII being kind of bad though, I used to play it only for FF sake. I didn't really like it, I just thought it was going to be a continuation of FF7, but boy was I wrong.
I really don't think any of the FF fall under horrible, even if I don't like a specific one, simply because I've played games that are really, really bad that truly deserve being called 'horrible'.

Bad Boys: Miami Takedown
FF13 was never delayed. It never had a release date to begin with. It was simply announced that there will be no North American release on any console until 2010. The Japanese PS3 version is coming out Q4 of 2009. Also the first version that we are getting will be the (tentatively) 'International' version, which has been a common re-release method that SquareEnix has used on previous Final Fantasy games, essentially to fix any bugs and re-balance the way that the leveling system works to make it less exploitable.
No, I disagree. Final Fantasy IX was one of the best Final Fantasy's (as I've previously said), up with VI and IV. Those three have to be my favourite, with VII following in a close 4th.

Final Fantasy IX is up there with Final Fantasy IX?

Edit: Ah, I see earlier in the thread you listed Final Fantasy IV.
Haaa ha ha. I hate when I do stuff like that. >_>

Thanks for pointing it out.

Is this where they summon Captain Planet?

Isn't there a demo of Final Fantasy XIII coming out soon or has it already been released?
So, it is still a 2009 release... in Japan. What happened to simultaneous releases. Tell me they aren't going to try to pull this:

Japan- Dec. 29, 2009 (Technically still Q4)
America- Ships Jan. 12, in stores Jan. 13, 2010 (FFXIII Day)
Europe- Jan. 15, 2010

Then again, this is Square-Enix we're talking about

This game doesn't look that great from what's been shown. Final Fantasy XII had this certain look and feel to it when you saw it so the wait was slightly justified, but this.. All I see is a female Cloud, Advent Children flying bullshit again, Seifer with a hat, and a red head with Shiva turning into a motorcycle.

At least their trying new things with the battle system. I'll be 21 when this comes out haha.. Wow.
Tau... I agree with you. For me, it doesn't have a lot going for it, but I as I said, I am more looking forward to Versus XIII than XIII.

Besides, I've never exactly hated an FF game. Fine, I don't particularly like 1 2 or 3 but they aren't exactly bad. I enjoyed FFXII's new direction but was disapointed on the story, which just seemed like FFVI all over again.

FFIX, which a lot of people didn't like is my personal favorite, and VIII, VII and X come close to being my fave RPGs.

So, I'm not exactly holding a negative attitude towards this.
New final fantasy XIII character introduced. Introducing Sazh Kalzroy!

I ask what on earth did people like about FFIX.

Or, if people want me to say why I think it's horrible first, that's also ok.
I think we need a Final Fantasy megatopic that is always open and is always getting a changing headline. Like . . . the news topic.

Also all of you are stupid. There is no such thing as a bad Final Fantasy game. They are all basically exactly the same and they are all really high-end, top-tier video games. This is why they get universally high review scores: they are good. Fringe outlets like RPGFan don't count because they don't have a reputation to uphold like a big publication.

I bet everyone here will buy Final Fantasy 13 and it will sell 5 million copies and it will be a smash hit. And once all of you have finished it you will go on the internet to complain about how much it sucked.

Do it. I would argue with the criticism that it is extremely derivative, but that is sort of the point. It is a love letter to Final Fantasy games that came before it. It is the last "old" Final Fantasy game. And either way it is a polished and extremely well-made game.
There is no such thing as a bad Final Fantasy game.

Dirge of Cerberus was absolute shit.
