SCREENSHOT SUPERBOWL SUNDAY

Man that truly is the perfection of FF/DQ combined. I'd flip those babbles though, they look like they're facing the wrong way.
Yus! Flip those Babbels, good sir! They're facing away from the party! Unless...well, unless the party is so weak that they do not even warrent the attention of a Babbel! Gah!
And yus, I should indeed speed up the message a tad during the battle. But...it just gives off a sort of charm! I don't even know how to explain it, actually. It just "feels right"? bah. i don't know, I guess I'm just a fan of slow text. Sort of adds to it all in my mind, I guess.
Also, in this world, anything is possible! I'm sure fighting a mere Yeti wouldn't require that much attention, 'eh? :P
Also, don't mean to sound dumb, but what's this "emboss" in the system window? D=

Quite right. Compared to the old battle setup of Hellion, this one is golden! The other one seemed very...odd. I don't know, but anyway...it's great that you've decided to take a hint from Generica and go with its way of doing things! I hope Hellion is done on time. =P
Also, can I post these here? The video its self is new, but the game is rather old. What is it? it's Dragon Fantasy II! Probably my best completed game. And to celebrate its completion and finally say "goodbye" to the game I've spent so long working on...I've decided to post up the ending!

Or if you just want to see the credit/ending sequence, Video 3 is your best option. =B

Bevel and embloss is when you apply a light and shadow to the corners to create a 'button' effect. It just looks ugly and amateur to me since I used to do this all the time in photoshop as a kid.

However it can work for a window if you thin it out like so:

I have actually gone insane this time and am doing a battle system. luckily it doesn't require many original ideas as it already exists.

now in widescreen! putting the graphics together (otherwise known as a MOCKUP). character poses are obviously temporary until I can be bothered to do the edits.
it looks essentially the same as the original FF6 battle system that I am callously stealing the graphics from and it will play similarly too. there are certain obvious differences though (big ol' Gilgamesh for a start), and there are more subtle differences: the backdrop moves, and I've used a more saturated blue for the windows. black bars at the top and bottom are compensating formy big dong the size of the backdrop. damn the SNES and its resolution.
coding starts tomorrow!
is this a good idea ??

@Ephiam: I'm glad to see someone made that extreme retro game for RM2k. I really love retro shit like that! Reminds me of good ol' NES times. Especially that 8-Bit music 4 ze win!
@Rockman: Sorry, don'T like that really. First of all the name ''Gilgamesh'' sucks even more than ''Sephiroth'', because you here that damn name in every fucking game and I am really sick of it. Can't understand why everyone uses those names.
About the BS I would say don'T place the people on the right in such a symmetrical order. They should stand more unregularly to each other. The whole screen looks boring somehow although the sprites and monster are good imho.
(Are you the same Rockman as that one from Gaymingworld and RRR btw.?)
Check this out, guys! 1 Minute video about my main project. Ignore the language and just enjoy the graphic, because I already translated everything into English.

Rockman, if you are doing it in rm2k/3 then the answer is no, it is not a good idea.
DB: So are you an agent of chaos or what
DB: So are you an agent of chaos or what
DB you... you haven't really got the point of that at all, have you??
Rockman, if you are doing it in rm2k/3 then the answer is no, it is not a good idea.too bad I'm on a roll yowwwwww
yeah it is a fair point, it would be pretty work intensive. I was thinking about GML but then I remembered the whole reason I was doing this was simply to get around RM2k/3's animation cell limit. the things I do for ridiculous animations!
Eventing a custom battle system will probably be an incredibly time-consuming task, but it's not impossible and this is why. I've thought of doing it myself. Also if someone made a good CBS out of events, I would be pretty much guaranteed to at least download it.
EDIT:
EDIT:
GMLOh wait are you making it in GM? Nevermind. I don't actually know what you're doing here besides making a custom battle system in... something.
Go play some Tara's Adventure if you want to know how an FF6 system done, Rockman!
If you can pull it off as well as that then it would be cool. I'd like it better if you came up with your own HUD, but it's okay. Have fun with it.

yeah that is kind of the idea, an enterprise in technical ecstasy and fun!
author=TooManyToasters link=topic=3024.msg71244#msg71244 date=1240086008I am still considering which to choose. GM would mean going over my knowledge of GML again but it would be more difficult in RM2k3 than GM. decisions !!

A bit off topic maybe but I found this FF6 SDK the other day; would use it if I could be bothered with XP.
yeah that always looked quite interesting. fuck if it could be easily modified though considering the script integration.

ADDITIONAL FUN STUFF:

(NOT FUN TO CODE IN 2k3)

Yes, that's entirely custom... the good and the bad. It boosted 100% original graphics, custom leveling, terrible artwork, a weird story, equippable battle commands, point-and-click style progression... and it all worked. Too bad I never finished it.
MODIFY: Holy hairballs, I just realized that every custom graphics game that I've done has featured a cat as a main character.
