Screw that, Mayor.
I think, not only should we rate and compare eachother's games, but we should rank people from best to worst. Like, their value as a human being. That way, we REALLY know where we stand in the internet e-peen totem poll.

The minute I saw the name of this thing, I knew this was gonna happen... I'm willing to bet there'd be ALOT less backlash if the name didn't seem so snooty and elitist...
But, the again, no one likes a cabal or anything like that telling them what's good. Probably why no one watches the Oscars anymore.

Huh. Everybody is just arguing their point to an imaginary person.
I'm just gonna replace my RPG_RT.exe/Game.exe icon with a gold medal. Imaginary problem solved. :)

Yeah. I see nothing wrong with competitions; if people like what you make, then it gets out there! How exciting. =D Of course there will always be dissenters, but it is noble to forgive people's faults.

I genuinely agree with this ironic comment. I also recognize its hilarity, and applaud harmonic for the lulz.

Despite the fact that you're disagreeing with me, I can't help but laugh my ass off at it.
But seriously, I like competitions as much as the next person, but when the mere use of a name like 'Educated Choice Awards' causes such
Or things can just be as they've also been, and the people with the dissenting opinions can just shut up and deal. Mob rule.
Happy Easter all!
So, people don't like the name. It might change next year, we don't know. We voted on it because it was, as kentona said, jokingly arrogant. It could be renamed RMN Choice Awards for all we really care (although some people might enjoy the backlash the name is getting, as someone who is truly offended might be taking things a little too seriously).
The opinions on what games did or didn't make the list are all well and good. That's the point of making a topic, or posting a news entry with the ability to comment. We could even post a follow-up article for "Games the community was pissed off we didn't mention." Doing away with the awards entirely, I'm against. We're here to get people interested in making and playing games, and I've always believed that competition helps breed creativity. Pride and poor attitude create drama associated with competition. Just make games, release them if you want, and enjoy the ride.

I like the idea of the awards, myself, as it spotlights good games, and acts as a big, convincing suggestion to the average reader to play these games. I just think the name might be a little too... Er... Well, it seems to get people riled up...
You can't kill RM Drama
It's a living entity made up of the hatred in all our hearts. As long as RM users exist, RM Drama will continue to exist and harass us all with its malevolence
