I CALL #3
the proud naval state of Geodonia has a rich and colourful history. established by Jordi Rökkman as a haven for refugees from the continent's many wars, necessity turned this modest state into a naval power as a reaction to vicious raids by PIRATES. this naval heritage was also reflected in the nation's expansionist ideals, making contact and trading with many previously unknown lands to the East.
for a time Geodonia was ruled by the corrupt Rex Johan III, who disbanded parliament and ruled by autocracy and fear, but twelve years into his reign was defeating by rebelling General William Könnig at the Battle of Breton Bay, who was unanimously declared the new Rex. Könnig was venerated as a national hero and the Könnig dynasty still rules Geodonia.
priorities:
naval power
trade
expansion
problems:
parliamentary monarchy = risk of civil war
pirates !!
(RULE BRITANNIA etc.)

Too bad that globe doesn't work for me.
18: The Dominion of Xaos
Realm of a powerful Prince of the Dark, whose only ambition is too increase his prowess in combat. To this end he scours the planet for worthy heroes to duel, but never to the death. For if he duels an opponent greater the he to the death, he would be left unable to improve!
Not that he's been defeated, of course.
(Near-endgame optional dungeon topped with an unwinnable boss fight that pays out based on % completed.)

Do you really think that it is a good idea to make the area right next to the beginning of the game a near-endgame optional dungeon with an undefeatable boss?

Final Fantasy I had the final dungeon near the start of the first city.
Dragon Warrior I had the final castle across an inlet of water from the start castle.
However, you have to do a lot to get to them. :-)

Also, the idea is that losing to Xaos results in "whiting out".
Hey kentona, since I don't feel like figuring it out, what font/weight of outline did you use for the names already on the map?
oh jeez. Let me look...
In Adobe Photoshop 6:
Eras Demi ITC (from dafont.com ?? or installed already, I can't remember)
12 pt crisp
Drop Shadow 75%, 30 angle
Stroke, 2px, black
...and...
8pt crisp
Drop Shadow 75%, 30 angle
Stroke, 1px, black

No photoshop on this work computer, but I did color in the countries that have been named if anyone wants to put the labels on it.

So the Dominion was rejected?
:(

Oh. D'oh.
...I lack Photoshop, man.

Am I still able to get in on this? I'd love to contribute. This is all pretty confusing though, so I really hope you plan on having some kind of "Game Bible" that pieces this all together.
We're all apparently cheap bastards who are too lazy to pirate Photoshop. Do you really expect activity? For people who can't figure out what's going on, what we were doing was naming areas of land.
Split Up Areas (feel free to claim multiple adjacent ones for a country, or outline some other island or something yourself):

At some point we were also arguing about a general plot outline/making up conflicting backstories, but that kind of fell through.
