MISSIONGARDE WORLDBUILDING -- COUNTRIES FOR SALE!

How about we do something like Blitzen's awesome worldbuilding topics? Make a topic (initially based off of this first blurb) with the headline being and italicized word from a previous topic. Suggestion: no obvious Norse/Greek/Roman/any mythology plzkthnx.
REMEMBER TO KEEP THE BOUNDRIES CLOSE TO MISSIONGARDE. This is worldbuilding for a specific game in a specificish setting, not about the dead servant of the queen's sister's lesbian lover's ex-husband's ward. The following article is about the king since he represents the ultimate mission: work down from him to create basis of Missiongarde.
Good idea.
THE RULES (from Blitzen's topic):
1. Select a italicized term from a previous article.
2. Write an article for it. Try and include other terms and keep in mind what has been said already, so we don't have contradictions or incoherencies.
3. Include at least one new italicized term for someone else to write an article about.
4. Keep in ming this is WORLD BUILDING. If you decide to write an article, remember we are building a world, places, cultures, economies, creatures, peoples first and not theogonies or ephemerals.
5. As the project leader, I'd like to reserve the say to exclude, retcon, or request rewrites of topics or terms. If they don't follow the rules, conflict with another article, or we have multiple submissions, in an effort to keep things contigous.
FROM CRAZE:
King Latenir Gardeheim
Rose to power after hiring an assassin to off his father, Ricardir Gardeheim. The public appreciates the work that Latenir has done to off-set the Monster's Doctrine, a series of acts forced through Parliament by Latenir's father. However, there is always the question in the back of their minds: is King Latenir truly sane, and can he be trusted in these dangerous times?
The assassination of King Ricardir Gardeheim was in 986 AV. Since then, King Latenir has been in rule. It is now 999 AV.
The queen, Izabelta Fashri-Gardeheim, adamantly protects her husband's image in public, but the inner-most circles of royal servants and powerful nobles know that Izabelta pays famous doctors and mages from her old country of Fashri to analyze Latenir's occassional... occurences.
Latenir and Izabelta do not yet have an heir.
...k go!
Request?
1. Established category for articles (Places, People, etc.).
2. A blank (unlabeled) world map where, if you name a place, you can put that name/label on a place that makes sense.
3. Years, for any article involving, well, anything. I.e. the rule of King Laternir was during what years?
4. Least important, but I think this might do better in game design & theory.

Parliament
Category=Organization/Faction.
The Parliament, a legislature of three hundred and one representatives from prominent registered guilds tithe-paying noble houses, was formed by the Middleground Treaty of 703 AV, at the conclusion of Goslin's War. The Parliament shares power over Missiongarde with the King (the present King is Latenir Gardeheim) in a constitutional monarchy; the King is still far than a figure head, and since open war between King and Parliament would be disastrous for the country (as proved by Goslin's War) the disagreements between them often take the form of subtle political maneuvering and discrete and indirect espionage.
The Grayguard answer directly to Parliament while the Royal Marines answer directly to the King.

NES-esque plot point, anyone?
Consider this information part of the King Latenir Gardeheim topic. Also, for clarity: yes, that first "AV" is italicized.

(Okay, that's fine, I will change AK to AV. What does AV stand for?)
Goslin's War
Category=Event.
Years=661-703 AV.
An uprising of the noble houses united under Imanuel Goslin of House Goslin against the perceived tyranny, bureaucratic incompetence, and high taxes of the current King (King Haeflin Gardeheim), who was of the ruling Royal House Gardeheim.
Goslin's War was civil strife taking the form of a series of "minor" civil wars fought between 661 AV and 703 AV, continuing well after the assassination of Imanuel Goslin in 688 AV. After nearly half a century of bloody conflict, it ended in 703 AV with the Middleground Treaty which established a constitutional monarchy, created the Parliament, and a foundation for power sharing between Parliament and King.

Something that should also be dicussed, to define the goals and objectives of this community exercise: what is the game and its missions about? The first mission, decided by kentona, is clearing out a tower of bandits. We have to go from there to meeting with the King, who (at the beginning of the game, at least), is Latenir Gardeheim.
My initial idea (obviously I am not the sole creator, so bash this to pieces, ignore it, whatever!) was that Missiongarde (the city) is being controlled by a series of laws put in place by a tyrant king. The current king is trying to override the Parliament and repeal the Monster's Doctrine, but he is getting weaker and weaker due to... occurences. The game would slowly narrow itself into solving the mystery of the King by killing bad things around the region of Missiongarde. Because RPGs are about killing things (THIS IS IMPORTANT BTW), it would involve demons or psychic dragons or liches or something.
The final mission (again, I am not an arbiter but just throwing an idea out there) would pertain to stopping some terrible thing from happening to Missiongarde at the end of the year 1000 AV, as told by Latenir.
Comments, changes, ideas, replacements...?
Max: AV doesn't mean anything yet!

Seems to me like Craze's post belongs in the OTHER Missiongarde topic more than this one.
I myself would be very interested in an ongoing struggle between King and Parliament, where there are no good guys or bad guys, and everything is sort of bathed in shades of murky gray. (There could be an outside force, overtly eviler, manipulating/opposing both, of course, I'm not opposed to that.)

I posted it here because the meat of the world (Missiongarde city and the immediate region) is the setting of the game, and kentona (who is going to be slaving away at this!) needs to have a clue about what to start doing. By defining the goals, we can focus the worldbuilding articles on pertinant information, not the favorite strawberry-themed breakfast of a distant Odin rip-off.
Also, I too like (and purposefully opened up) the idea for the Parliament power struggle, but keep the genre and scope in mind. Unless the other topic decides otherwise, this is most likely going to be a NES-SNES era game; interesting story, but more about getting to the next boss than political scenes that don't directly influence or include PCs. As for the scope, you already asked for a world map.
Actually, instead of saying what I was originally going to say: it might be cool if the PCs are marines and/or grayguard.

Monster's Doctrine
Category: Law
Years: 963 AV- 986 AV
Description: A doctrine set forth by Ricardir Gardeheim in 963 AV that allowed the public use of Ingos and Bowlersnouts for slave work and labor. This upstarted many of the townsman due to the fact that many people were losing their jobs to the free and cheap labor. Those who were not were disgusted by the amount of filth was made by these creatures. This would eventually lead to a period known as the Dark Times as written about by famous scholar Balthazar Syrus VII. The doctrine was later revoked by King Latenir Gardeheim. The revoking of the doctrine is considered the main reason, King Latenir Gardeheim took power so quickly. After the doctrine was revoked the creatures were said to be still used as carriers for supplies today.

Just popping in to say I like this idea.
Edit: May I appeal for a small island nation to be named after me?
Whipped this up in about 45mins. Let me know if this will work. I have no idea how big this game will be in the end, but the scope of the map should be able to provide ample opportunity for people to make interesting missions.
Requests?
Is that brown circle Missiongarde? If not, it should be near there! I think that it should be in the very center of a large continent so that there is plenty of on-foot exploration to be done. So maybe near those lakes in the middle of the image could be the city, and maybe the country of Fashri (where the queen was a princess) could be in the S.America-looking continent in the lower-left? Call the capital city Fashburg Castle or something, I dunno.
That is a VERY nice map, by the way!

Yes, that is where I envisioned Missiongarde to be. In fact, the blob is a castle with 4 villages around it.
EDIT:
I really like just staring at this map. I'm quite proud of the general look of it, despite all the errors.

We claim this cold, damp, Ireland like island in the name of our forefathers! (Actually the Camdonians just think that they own the lower left island.)
Ingo
Category: Monster
A species of ape-like creatures that are generally found in caves and on the sides of mountains. The color of their fur depends on their native environment--for example, mountain-dwelling ingos have fur the color of stone and rock lichen. They generally settle in clusters, with whom they share their food and children.
Ingos have a reputation for obsessively attacking anything that physically threatens a member of their cluster. While this makes them dangerous, the city of Missiongarde has repeatedly exploited this fact to capture masses of ingos for the use of labor in the city's underbelly.
Compare with abyss gazers, contrast with morlocks.

If I may make a suggestion, why don't we go with Craze's original overall plot idea:

If I may make a suggestion, why don't we go with Craze's original overall plot idea:
I'm for this idea.
Alternatively, the current king in charge of Missiongarde could be the tyrant, who the main characters serve. But rather than being an evil despot, he could be a character more in the vein of Lord Vetinari from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series; although he is certainly tyrannical and holds Missiongarde and its surroundings in an iron grip of rules and regulations, these rules and regulations work and are a better alternative to the widespread chaos that would likely engulf Missiongarde if he died.
On a more meta-fictional note, the class system could be a reflection of the rigor of the king's rule, since playable characters are forced into archetypes rather than being allowed to pursue their interests.
Might I suggest that Missiongarde be moved onto the shore of the lake next to it? I'm picturing it as a hub town of sorts, so maybe being able to take a ship to other towns in the late game might be possible.
ALSO, could we get a link to a full-size world map?
