What are you talking about? Detroit Red Wings have been consistently good for 12 years, and made the playoffs like 22 years in a row - a record for any North America pro league.

They are practically a dynasty.

I was talking about the rest of the teams in Detroit. When's the last time the Pistons won, 2004?

The Lions? Have they ever won a Superbowl much less a division championship?
I'm not knocking the Redwings, I'm just saying theyre the last beacon of light for that citys sports teams.
They are a very bright beacon. No one cares about basketball, baseball or NFL football anyway - they are the lesser sports.
all american sports are the lesser sports. EMBRACE FOOTBALL OR DIE

I sure as hell do. I don't even bother with Hockey until Playoff time, I'll give you the NBA because as a Knicks fan; there's just no point of watching.
"FOOOOOOTBALLLLLLLLLL!!! Watch football! We have all your favorite players like Juarez Faantangesiz, Enrique Valgomez, and Juarez Faantangesiz II! And ties! Ties! TIES!! Celebrate your team's with a riot! Or murder the goalie if your team loses! FOOOOOTBALLLLLLL!!"

I try to watch soccer, buuuut it's pretty boring. I think that there are too many players on the field - defense is too tight so there isn't any action. Plus, it REALLY irks me to see so much DIVING! "OH NO! YOU BRUSHED MY SHOULDER!! *falls over as if he'd been shot, writhing in pain for 5 minutes before bouncing back up and playing normally, injury-free*"

Still, it's better than baseball.

I'd roughly rank the sports like this:

Hockey > Canadian football > NFL > Basketball == Soccer > Golf > Bowling > Baseball

...in order of what I'd watch on TV on a lazy Sunday. It'd be a toss up between soccer and basketball.

Hahah, how the hell can you rate Canadian football over the NFL?
It's more exciting to watch.

try watching in a country with a league system worth anything ::)

Honestly, I respect your opinion. I just think American Football is the greatest sport ever to grace our airwaves.

I get physically ill when my Giants lose a game. It's like somebody attacked my manhood.
I do. When I'm folding laundry Sunday mornings, the only thing on is Europeon soccer (and fishing, I guess). I think I watched part of some UK playoffs, between the Somethings FC and Blahblah United. I've never actually seen a game from NA's MLS.

Oh, and wedge tennis in there between Soccer and Golf.

EDIT:

Yeah, I can understand. I live in Saskatchewan, so I have 3 loads of laundry: darks, lights and greens.

I just like the CFL more because of the fewer downs (3), bigger field, smaller players (on average) and minor rule differences (like the 5-yeard-rule on kick returns). Actually, we do get a lot of Americans playing - those that get cut and/or kicked out for doing drugs. I think at least half the players in the CFL are American.

yeah.. the playoffs are for League 2, League 1 and the Championship, the 4th, 3rd and 2nd tier respectively. on the Sunday I believe it was Scunthorpe United and Millwall from League 1. not exactly the crème de la crème!

also the Football League is for England and two Welsh teams (Swansea and Cardiff). for some reason football clings to these no-longer-countries.
No, it was a few weeks ago. The teams were more recognizable, like Manchester or something. It was the semi-finals for some league playdowns.
well you did say it was the playoffs!

probably the FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Everton.
ONLY THE OLDEST CUP COMPETITION IN THE WORLD. ::)

but yeah from that game you were not gonna learn much about the not-very-defensive attitude of most top English teams. it was certainly a very cagey affair!
3-2 is a high scoring game in soccer.

Anywho, here is a large article summing up the whole shebang so far:

http://sports.sympatico.msn.cbc.ca/news/contentposting.aspx?feedname=cbc-sports-v3&showbyline=true&date=true&newsitemid=sp-balsillie-questions&pagenumber=1

I'd recommend reading it if you want to start following the story. It'll get you up to speed in the 15 minutes it takes to read.
3-2 ?? in this case I have no idea what you are referring to.
oh. I guess scoreboards in soccer don't go that high.

Theoretically, if one team were to score 3 goals in a single game, and the opposing team scored 2 times, the score would be 3-2 (in this hypothetical universe).
hahaha this has taken a turn for the confusing. no I have no idea what match you were referring to.
I wasn't refering to any match in particular. I was just remarking upon that you think that some teams aren't very defensively minded by mocking how low actual scores are in a "high scoring" soccer game.
pretty sure it's all relative to the scoring system and style of game but i'll take your word for it

basically you're talking nonsense
