You should expand those floor patterns to the rest of the floor.
I agree with Nightblade... they just look like cracks in the ground. Unless you're going for that, I'd suggest making more patterns and variations.

BINGO! I always thought that Catan looked great and had alot of style, the geography of it was very diverse and I got the sense that a game's entire world could fit there
I spent a long time painstakingly trying to make the outline and those mountains exact as possible (though I did change up some things to make it fit with the areas I already planed to be in the game) I still don't know why I bothered :P

How about you go leap off a cliff next time you want to reply directly to me?
As it stands now, it looks like a floor pattern peppered around all over the level. Having a vein like pattern cover the entire floor was my suggestion.
I like the foreign (alien-like?) design that setting has. I'm also happy to see the use of light to define a setting instead of the use of darkness.
That being said, cool it, Nightblade. No one provoked that type of reply from you, and I don't like the frequency with which you've been attacking people.

Time to calm the savage beast with moar screens, methinks.
More underground town dev. Still have to make one 3/4 window for the side of the center house/dwelling/structure, plus add in some light sources/etc, but this gives you an idea of how needlessly complex my mapping is. I use a lot of events to achieve my layered effects. In fact, this is by no means the whole map- only about 1/4 of it in the screenshot and only 1/2 of the map is done- and I've already got 183 events on there. Keep in mind, there are no NPCs or items yet- that's all chipset/map stuff. Enjoy~

Yeah, that does look like a pain to map. Worth the effort though.
Looks great like your other underground city screens.

S.F. LaValleIt is- they look great in-game.
Is it the editor that makes the rock walls look out of contrast?

Not nearly as much of a pain as doing lightmaps for the whole town. And believe me, there is a lot of town. I think it'll be worth it once a demo gets unveiled in a few months.
Now if only I could find a spriter... :(
Craze
Ease up your load and use XP.
Bite my stony, archaic, 2k3 ass. ;) I have almost 10 years of my life invested in learning rm2k/3 and I'm not planning to give it up any time soon. I taught a class on game design in highschool and used it as the primary tool for the whole class. I'm fucking crazy, I know. Some pretty entertaining games got made, though. As all of two people in the class had artistic talent, many of the games focused on crazy humour and story, as we didn't have flashy visuals beyond rips and RTP from Phylomortis.
That said, the extended chipset capabilities/alpha blending/ridiculous scripting power are very tempting. For my current purposes, though, my writer/co-programmer and I are both super-well-versed in 2k3, so we're going with what we know.

No need to be rude, you know?
I have to say I love the map, tardis.

I love how Lennon edited his reply as if nobody would notice.
At any rate, I'd like to ask a question if I'm allowed the right without having 9 people jump down my throat.
That sounds like pure torture to map. Ease up your load and use XP.
What exactly would XP to ease this guy's work load? Ignoring all of the other work that would go into moving a project over to a completely new engine.
As for the screenshot itself, my only suggestion would be to add a few small crags to the empty blackness in the upper left corner; unless a the cave is supposed to be situated on some sort of endless pit.

483 events, and this is only the beginning of the dungeon to give the player a feel for the water mechanics. Highly annoying to work with being that enemies refuse run over the shallow and deeper water that the player can walk through. Thankfully, teleporting the monster events rectifies the issue.

Umm, you know, not like I want to continue this ragefest here, but, I didn't?
EDIT: Oh, and if we could see a bigger screen of the dungeon NB, I bet it'd look pretty dang nice with water and the like. Just my hunch.

no one cares about your stupid fight with this guy Nightblade, just let it go
If nobody cared, I sincerely doubt it would have escalated this far. If you don't care, you'd do well to take in your own words and realize you're contradicting yourself.
post=95567Speaking of this - while it didn't achieve quite the still, empty look I was going for; it did create a very interesting and otherworldy effect that I'll have to keep in mind for later use. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
Having a vein like pattern cover the entire floor
it escalated this far because you kept making needlessly hostile responses like that
edit: screw this, I'm not letting you sucker me into getting in another gigantic bitchfight with you
