IF YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO HAVE ANOTHER RTP...
Posts
This has been bugging my mind but if there's ever going to be a new RTP presented by Enterbrain or someone or by something, what kind resources would you like to have this time and for what maker? Would you like it to have some proper tracks for it or will you just rush and get the commercialized of freeware ones?
To be honest, I'd like to see more steampunk or modern tiles and graphics since they feel lacking haha.
But what do the others think?

I don't think they really intended for you to use the RTP. It just looks like something to get new users up and running if they don't know where to find nice resources.
As for new RTP, I could care less. I can typically find what I need online.

That, and if you need NICE graphics, hook up with 006. He's on occasionally, so he'll prolly respond to a PM.
I'd like to see it go kind of RMXPish again, but look less childish. Somewhat of a serious, good height RTP.
The silly anime worked great for RMVX, but keep it out of my XP please.

Yeh seriously. I'm on for an RTP that has both fantasy, modern, and sci-fi themes, and wish that they have handful of charsets fitted for three themes!
Yeah, maybe something a bit more rugged and serious next time around. We've got a lot of bright and shiny at the moment and can always use those, but gritty and solemn are few and far between.
Not that I don't love chipper and bright.

I'm all up for a new RTP with a dark, gritty undertone. I think that there should be themes for both serious and jovial atmospheres, as well as plentiful options for fantasy, post-modern, and science fiction themes. The more, the better.
Yah right dude... but we're talkin' about makin' a new RTP. I wish they can include VX-ish fantasy themed charsets, an RMXP RTP-sized modern themed charsets, and even a Half Kaizer-like futuristic charsets :D
Fallen Griever the purpose of this thread is to ask if people were to have some decent RTP OR SHOULD I SAY RESOURCE PACKAGE (e.g. Lost Garden's free graphic packs for some games) what would they like...
Not, HOW DO I IMPORT RESOURCES FROM OTHER GAMES OR FREE RESOURCES STUFF FROM RANDOM SITES LAWL

Unless you want to make your game look alike the other 3242141243 games and not even bringing a new setting on the table.
This person: http://lostgarden.com/ provides free graphics for developers. This is just me asking for a style of graphics what people want in the future. This thread is serving a purpose that isn't going to be detailed yet. If you want to use illegal resources from commercial games go ahead but that isn't my point here.

Ignore F-G. At least until he posts a relevant reply.
I haven't, as of yet, been interested in making games in a futuristic setting. I may have wanted some steam punk here or there, to separate more fantastic locales from the mundane settings one might experience in the start of a game. Thus, I don't have any gripes with typical medieval RTP fare.
What I would appreciate, however, if I were purchasing a program at a premium that is designed to give you everything you want and need to make a game, would simply be two things. One, which is purely wishful thinking, is simply higher-quality resources. Resources that can establish tones other than just the standard bright-colored and cheerful settings we see today with RTP.
The other thing, which should be more do-able, would be resources to assist with CREATING your own. Much like Charas Project and Facemaker does for us now, I think it would be a great idea to add not only micro-resources to combine and create original characters (hairs, clothing, accessories, even as detailed as eyes, mouths, noses, etc), but also a small utility to help combine them, and re-color them. This would be fantastic for tilesets, too.

S.F. That is very interesting. So it's like instead of standard premade graphics you'd like a program that focuses on mixing what you have and able to add your own. hmm
Right. I mean, it would come with pre-made resources, but it would also come with all of the MICRO resources used to create all of the pre-assembled stuff. Just like the program has a map editor where you put individual tiles to create an entire environment, it would be great to have a charaset editor, and a tileset editor.
