GROOVESHARK LEGALITY
Posts
I recently found this great online application that lets you listen to just about any song online for free without logging in, signing up, or anything really. And that's the problem I have with it. Their entire database is user uploaded...
I'm wondering as to the legality of this. Do any of you guys know more?

Because he isn't afraid of SWAT guys busting his door down and replacing his mouth with the butt of a submachine gun.
Because the industry is backing off their tactic of suing individuals for large amounts of money, and lowering that amount if they keep quiet. i.e. no ones going to stop you from pirating now
The website itself can't be sued because they aren't responsible for determining what's copyrighted and what isn't. I suppose the users who upload the songs may be liable but obviously getting them all would be freakishly impractical. Gotta love legal loopholes.

Then why would you use it?
Why wouldn't he?
For the simple fact that it's stealing and stealing is wrong, no matter how you sugarcoat it. It doesn't matter if there's consequences or not, you're still breaking the law, and that's a self defeating thing to do.
Feld, you're right though. I've been making stuff in that while keeping in the back of my mind that it really was illegal and that I shouldn't be using it. Thank you for keeping me accountable to my own morals.
Tell me, is it legal to play games made by other people in rm2k and rm2k3?

Dude, the thing I've been trying to get to you is that who really cares? Sure, you can argue the point with some specific issues over others, but it just sounds like to me that you think that something being illegal automatically means its wrong.

you bastard you caused me a serious accident
I'm saying that they wouldn't make a law against it if it were a perfectly acceptable thing to do.
Also, I don't mean to be self righteous and I apologize if I'm coming across as so.

Yeah laws are always made in regards to right or wrong and not the ambitions or motives of the state
like women and black people voting. It was totally illegal because it was wrong.
Geez man you cannot be this naive.
