ah, I don't have any experience with x64 operating systems.
It's not like a game not working on a PC is a sure thing. Between processors, operating systems, video cards, and various configurations, the possibilities are endless. I just booted KOTOR up on my Vista-64 machine and it seemed to work fine. There is no such thing as a game that will not work on a modern operating system 100% of the time under any configuration. It can be a pain in the ass, but I have yet to encounter a game that does not work no matter what I try.

I dunno, I've seen plenty in the 95-98 era that just stopped working come XP and Vista. Sometimes fan patches make it better, but that's only for the really good games. The rest... sorry. Sometimes operating systems make old games behave strangely. Like FFVII for the PC has a glitch in XP where the chocobo races cause crashes or is unwinnable. thankfully there's a patch for that.

One game I've NEVER gotten working correctly was Dungeon Keeper 2 - which is Sad because I've always wanted to play it ( T_T)
I'm not disputing that old games have their issues on newer operating systems. I just don't believe there are any games that are impossible to get working. I've had problems with dozens of games, popular and obscure, and yet there always seems to be at least one other person on the internet that has encountered the same problem as I. While a quick solution or easy-to-use fan-made patch might not be available, the information on the web always gives you something to go on.

Unfortunately the trouble you have to go through to get a game to work isn't always worth it. I spent three hours trying to get Betrayal at Antara to work right on Vista. After finally playing it I can safely say it was not worth it.

mmm, this i know. however, i did a bit of research and more people than usual seem to be having problems (particularly under windows 7) without too many solutions
morrowind mysteriously won't work on my pc even though i can play pretty much anything up to crysis and beyond on full blast

<on-topic aside>

After like 5 or 6 years, I've finally finished Okage: Shadow King. It's a charming tale with a great sense of humour, an interesting take on heroes and adventures, and a strange battle system that you either tolerate or loathe. The art is reminiscent of a happy and more colourful Tim Burton, although the graphics and animations can look a little tired on your PS2 - even by the standards of when the game was made.

I had dropped the game for years right before the final dungeon because it was like three mazes strapped together, and I absolutely loathe mazes. Eventually I stopped whining and picked up a map, and was on my way. Sadly, since it had been so long since I played it, I mostly forgot all the little nuanced information you pick up over the period of the game, so the ending lost a bit of it's charm - but the game itself before the last dungeon more than makes up for it.

Strike one more off the list!
