HOW MANY PEOPLE READ GAME BLOGS?
Posts
I was just wondering how many people check out the blog list, and/or read blog posts now that RMN has removed the Game Dev forum. Essentially, the Blog list replaces the game dev forum in functionality.
I find that I check out the Blog list far more often than I ever perused the game dev forum of RMNv2. I read and comment on games frequently now. I also check out the Games list and Reviews list regularily. I just wish that the review list showed number of comments, because I think a lot of reviews can (and do) spur a lot of discussion.
This is just an informal poll.

Eh, I read them sometimes I guess, but only off the gamepage itself. I didn't even notive the blog link on the bar up there XD. I probably will more now that you've brought it to my attention.
I check them every day, and I try to comment on others as well. Legitimate, relevant comments too, not just shit like 'sounds great!' or whatever.
I read through a couple of blogs every so often.
Also, wasn't there going to be an actual poll function in the RMN3 forums?

I jump between Blogs, Games, Reviews and the home page too often. I should work on my game more.
I try to check them out at least twice a day and comment on those that I feel the need to/like the look of/find interesting. I also check out the games and reviews a lot. I like seeing new stuff!

Also, TFT told me the other day he would read more blogs if the gamepages had custom CSS. They will be getting this in the future. You can see an example of this on one of my game's:

It depends on the entry title for me. Usually I just glance at the screenshots / reviews / posts in the main page. I still think there should be a option to take it out. But whatever!
I read them all. Though I do not always comment.
So think of it like this guys: even if you're some random new guy, at least one person will read your blog.

Sorry, but they are actually pretty useful despite you not liking them.
heh, I didn't actually notice it until now. It's pretty nice, I like it. You can easily see who's working and who's not heh.
I check the list a few times each day. I'm actually disappointed so few people make the effort to post something and/or comment.
Yeah I wish people would post about their game development and their game dev thoughts rather than just going: "welp just ate a sandwich, hope my computer doesnt die on me, uh its a very sunny day, SO MY RM GAME IS GOING FINE" or posting a sentence about a single fix for a graphic.
Top blogs also bother me, some games like Aradiah, Warrior Dee's RPG get the spotlight for posting shit I just mentioned. I don't have a definate solution for highlighting quality blog posts and there are definately a lot of things with higher priorty. But if we're going to improve blogs sometime in the future I think changing the 'top blogs' to something more elaborate is a step in the right direction.
Examples of quality blog posts:

I'll read anything posted if it's posted by an author of a game I'm watching. This means I have to subscribe to a game first before I begin actually going though all their blog posts (not just commenting on a few I stumble across). But once I've done that I don't mind what they post. Even if they complain about how hot it is in their apartment, I'll still read it but it has to be the author to a game I'm watching. I don't mind that their posts won't be on the top page of course.
I agree with the featured blogs method of ranking blogs where you've got the normal ones, and then the featured ones on top.

It'd be great if a new comment in a blog post bumped it to the top of the list. I try to comment more often now, too.
It would also be great if you were notified when your blog/page received a new comment. I believe WIP said that this was going to be the case in the future, though.
