I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY NAIL
Posts
So my finger hurts, right? I look at it, and right in the middle of the nail, it looks like there's a piece of pencil lead (graphite I guess) that got stuck there.
How does that happen? It's not in the top part, but clean through the nail. Isn't that fucked? There's no way to get it out as well, because nail don't budge like soft skin does. It feels funny. I wonder when I could've done it? The finger feels a bit fucked.
The pic doesn't show much, but here it is...
(this was first posted on another forum, an update) I tried digging into the surface of my nail with a knife, and it seemed like the metal or whatever is inside (I think I've ruled out pencil?)didn't seem to be on the surface, but I have no idea how it got in there. Now that I touched it with the knife, that just makes me feel an immense feeling of pain.
Any ideas?

Have it surgically removed.
So you're not sure about what the thing that's in your nail is? The picture isn't very clear.

If the surface of a nail gets scuffed up a little bit, it grows back to look normal in a few weeks. Have some faith.
What does soaking it in hot water do?
I have no idea what it is. I guessed graphite, but maybe metal?
I suppose it's meant to soften the nail, but metal would also absorb heat/expand.
If the hot water doesn't work, try cold. Shrink the metal some, maybe make it more susceptible to homebrew removal methods.

Or just let your nail grow out. Whatever is stuck in there will probably fall somewhere by itself at some point in the far future.

graphite is a metal ::)
Graphite is an allotrope of carbon you dunce
hahahaha
