PSP - WHY DIDN'T I BUY THIS EARLIER?
Posts
The reason people prefer the psp 2000 is because you can hack it so you can download psp games, ps1 games, emulators from snes and gba (also working on ds one but it currently sucks; slow), and a buttload of homebrew to it. You can use a homebrew enabler on a psp 3000 but I don't know how well it works. I hacked my psp and never regretted doing it (still getting 6 hours out of the battery even after hard modding the battery). You have to mod the battery but it doesn't work on a psp 3000 because of the cpu in it. Anyways... I suggest Final Fantasy Tactics (long game and challenging), Resistance Retribution (fun but people hack online), Midnight Club LA, or Crisis Core (fun but I only suggest it if you like Final Fantasy 7).
You can easily mod a 3000 if your firmware is 5.0. It takes almost no work.
I remember when I hacked my PSP, it took me long to find someone who had actually had a Pandora Battery. Dissidia I enjoy playing it, Cecil kicks ass. Golbez got annoying for me when he kept spamming night-glow.

Jeanne d'Arc is one of the best RPGs I've played. You should really get it.
Also there is an exploit for the PSP firmware that will let you run some unsigned code but not CD images. It's actually my preferred way to do it, because I can run a GBA emulator and play Mother 3 but I still am running official firmware and cannot pirate games.
I guess it's a function of either being a jerk or being broke but video games are pretty cheap, and unless you're pirating some five-year-old GBA game that was never released in America, I don't know how you can be entertained when you are playing stolen software. I always felt like a slime when I played pirated games.
I really would like a portable way to play mother 3 - i got a DS R4 only to realize the only damn thing it DOESN'T do is play gba games. what the hell, man...
so how do you do what you just described?

Google it, good luck getting info on this here. We don't explain how to get ahold of illegal-ness.
well, i looked around, but I have the latest firmware, so I think it's a lost cause anyway - oh well. I've got plenty of games for the thing now anyway.

For just 50 dollars less then a new PS3! The PSP go is a beautiful download only system. (It feels so good in yer hands though!) But that means all of the hard copies of games I have are going to become completely useless if I buy the Go!
...That has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
I agree that downloading games is really cool - but i think that should be ANCILLARY to owning actual copies of a game. like if you can't find them anymore, or if you just prefer having media cards. but not having the option? it's like a kick in the teeth to people who've already bought PSP and have a game library...
on the other hand, if there were a legitimate way to DL the games you already have ONTO the Go, I would be okay with it..

I was seriously thinking about buying one until I heard it has a shitty battery life, and that the joystick is uncomfortable to use.
It looks like a phone. I'd rather have a gaming handheld, thank you.
Between this and the DSi, I'd hate to see where the next generation of handhelds goes.

I like it because I haven't owned a psp before, but still, I'm waiting for one of my friends to buy it before i make any decisions.
PSP Go looks pretty bad. At least with the DS iterations you don't lose the ability to play your games.
I used to have a Sony boycott, but now I'll probably try and grab some cash from various sources to get a PSP. Can it play RPGmaker games?I'd love demon tower on a hand held.

This hasn't been confirmed yet :(
I don't know why they don't just issue one free download code to each physical disc serial number?

I remember that SOMEONE was making a rpgmaker2000/2003 homebrew, but I don't think it's 100% yet, and I havn't tested it because my firmware's too high.

Because, Sony doesn't play ball like that.
I just got Dissidia. LOVING IT. The remixes are great and the battles are SO MUCH FUN. Too bad the story kinda blows, but it's not (too) gamebreaking.

Show me a fighter with a better plot.
Whenever I play a game via the UMD, the loading sounds it make every now and then are quite audible. Does everyone have this? I assumed it was just what PSPs do, but I found it incredibly annoying and it made me only want to play games off a memory stick.
