SCREENSHOT SESAME STREET (40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION)

No no no arcan I think it's fine! You don't need wood textures for this style. <3
For this style? The style that... suddenly everyone else is using? There's nothing wrong with the style. In fact, I'm quite the fan! But that doesn't mean we need everyone doing it at the same time. There is nothing wrong with taking something that people like and turning it into something that people rarely get to see and still like.

p.s. I am not saying he should abandon the style, I am saying he should experiment with further levels of detail and post the results.

man. who else other than us is using the style? people keep talking about "everyone else" using the style but I haven't seen it
I mean, to me, the whole point of the style seems to be lack of detail, favoring shades of color to give context. I think it works.
There have been, what, three? other people showcasing very simple styles, reminiscent of Earthbound. I know this one is more akin to, say, Paladin's Quest, but I would still like to see where it is capable of evolving to if given detail.

Simplicity is nice, but how often do we get to see really well flushed out fully custom graphics? They usual stop at the simple stage, for whatever reason.

edit: ho ho ho turns out it was only two other games +Mother 4 +my own brain so I apologize for that but I am still very curious to see what it would look like with detail!

There's another guy who made two games with a similar style; though he doesn't post much. I remember this because one of the screenshots showed a guy coming out of a portrait attacking the player with the dewey decimal system.
Yeah, CAHRULL was his name I believe.
There was also that 'Wooby RPG' game that used Mother-esque graphics.
Does anyone see the similarities between arcan's screen and DE's installment in that one ALEX thing? I love that style, actually. I just... also love more detailed styles.

Also, happy new year's from Toronto!

Having a signature is too mainstream. I'm not part of your system!

Cool I want to see DE's work now.
http://tsukuru.pl/index.php?link=set&plik=zasoby/2kchipset/a-c/alex3 this is DE's chipset from that ALEX entry.

(copy and paste it, don't just click it or it won't load)

DE is a genius.

Can we have a screenshot in this thread? Sure.

I've posted like fifty battle screenshots already but IT'S ALL I HAVE CURRENTLY since I've already posted tomb/slums/forest shots.

No he is not actually in Arian Wild, also this is Anaryu's favorite boss because for some reason he was bashing a random line of code when he got to low HP and the game would crash. I MOVED A SINGLE LINE OF CODE AND NOW YOU CAN DIE SETH DIE

PLEASE POST SOMETHING ELSE this is a horrible screenshot but I dislike the lack of screenshots in this thread just make a topic about GW fetishes okay

I'm still working on the battle system. I need to make animations for the attacks.

There's like 4 different art styles in that one screen.
Yeah I know. The ripping is from different games for the battlers and ProtoMan. I am not an artist to make anything from scratch.
At least rip consistently, man.
I wish I could. Not all of the characters in fan game are in the same original games together. Let's say I had Dynamo and Vile in the game. Vile only original games are X1, X3, X8 and Xtreme. Dyanmo is only in X5 and X6. X1 through X3 have different graphics than X4 through X6.
Then don't have Dynamo and Vile in the same game!
