Sam, that looks pretty good, but some of the cliffs in the first screen bother me. The second one is pretty much perfect to me though.

And about the shading: It's really the picture's size. It looks much better in fullscreen. However, the Desert King's shading is still a little off.

I also fixed the font so it's not spaced out and squished and shit.

Two parts of the first super-boss in the battle demo (hopefully being released tomorrow evening!). I probably would have died if I didn't stay on my toes.

What do you guys think this scene may lack? It's a bit too green right now.
Contrast. Make the long grass yellow and define the edge of the trees a little; otherwise it looks really good. Nothing wrong with green on green, but there has got to be some sort of difference between them. What you want to do is make the player notice immediately, using peripherals only, the different types of terrain (ie blocking and non-blocking terrain). The grass is also a little too noisy.
I disagree about the grass. I like the grass. What I don't like is the highlight on the dirt. The trees also look highly unnatural. I attribute this to the form, more perfect than a typical tree, with the variations in foliage volume undefined, and the highlight color, which makes the ends look shiny, and plastic-like.
I actually love the dirt.

I can't appease everybody. There's those who like contrasty graphics and those who like it more natural.

In any case, I retextured the grass, made it a bit more mellow. After all, it's repeated so often. And I made a few smaller contrast changes.

@geodude: I sorta didn't, I just went ahead with what I thought needed improvement. I kinda like this new texture. And they are not imbeciles. I asked for some pointers, and, well, I got some. :)

Unfortunately the Acknex engine only comes with some basic first person shooter scripts, I have to script extend and program the entire WeaponBirth game engine with C/C++ and C-Script. The engine does handle a ton of stuff for me allowing me to progress really fast.
