I am interested this in this also, since my attempts using Windows Movie Maker and ...whatever it was I used to record... turned out terrible.

As far as I know, Fraps is arguably the most competent freeware vide-recording program... as least for something like RM Games. The free sample only records 30-seconds at a time, but you can always edit the samples together.

The Magic of Microsoft Movie Maker..
If you're broke. If you do have a nice video editing software then use that.
Just stick the recorded footage together in the editor, add some fruity music and HORRIBLE movie
maker filters. And you're done :U

VirtualDub would be an interesting choice as well, I believe.

i wish XFire worked for more than just supported games. it has a really great video game recorder.

2I click on movies
3I start playing my RMXP game on full screen
4I press F9 to start recording (nothing happens)
5 I play the game
6I press F9 to stop recording
7I close my game
8I I press on "View"

try changing the key to something else. in fraps when you start recording the framerate display should turn red to show that recording is on. f9 does something in rm2k, brings up the cheat window I think, not sure about this in rmxp/vx though. That may be messing with the whole thing. I always just set mine to prt scr.

Basically, if you don't see the FPS counter when you are in the game, it's not gonna work. I believe the FPS counter is yellow when inactive, and red when it is recording. It works for me on rm2k3.
