FINISHED GAMES 2010

FFVII. Great game.
Glad I didn't do all that work for Knights of Round or whatever; final battle was easy enough without it. Also I wish Yuffie and Vincent were in the ending though considering they were the two characters I used alongside Cloud. Oh well.

That was one of my favo parts too. She said it with such venom.
After playing the first three games in the series, SH2 is my favorite by far, but I really enjoyed the other two as well. Are SH4 and beyond worth checking out, or should I end it here?
Silent Hill 4 is really creepy, but has very little to do with Silent Hill. It's annoying that you have to go through every location twice. Origins is fun but storywise there's nothing. Like virtually nothing. I don't remember a single thing about the story. I enjoyed Homecoming, but it gets a bad rap. As long as you can deal with some blaring cliches--sassy female sidekick and shotgun-wielding big black man for example--it'll be fine. The twist at the end is really good. Shattered Memories is fun but not very scary and the psychological examination thing isn't particularly accurate or effective. I haven't beaten it but my brother tells me the twist at the end of that one is good as well.
EDIT: Oh, wait, it was "Shut your stinking mouth, bitch!" Even better!
Guys
I beat FF3DS on my first try
It scarred me for life, but... I did it.
(so I've beaten FF3DS, but not Clash of Heroes, Contact, Persona 4 (ignoring that the game has like three final dungeons and I've done two of them), or Suikoden V...?)
EDIT: This is in reply to a few posts back. Also, I don't remember my party and I really don't feel like opening up that save file. Bad juju.
...of course, I'll get FF:Gaiden like every other self-respecting faux-oldschoolaholic.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
I dunno. It was okay. The scariness went away after the first hour, and the gameplay is never mixed up even slightly. Pretty underwhelming. It was short, though, so at least it didn't out stay its welcome. I liked the new characters and what they did with the old characters. Dahlia is a lot more endearing as a hot goth chick. Cybil and Lisa look much more realistic. The psychological examination thingy is expectedly flawed like I said above. The twist at the end was interesting but really weirded out the plot. But ya know it was still fun.

BLAM. Finished Tales of Synphonia last night. I really liked it. The characters were all engaging, multidemensional, and useful. Battles were fun, dungeons were usually full of interesting puzzles (altough by the last few hours of the game, I was just plowing through them trying to reach the end). Voice acting was fantastic, which is a WTF moment considering it's a Gamecube game. There was literally more cutscenes and side quests than I could hadle, if I wanted to go around looking for them. And the number of events that change what people say in towns accross the world was huge - I can't even comprehend how tedious that must have been to do. And it even has a new game plus - how nice. The only way the game could have been improved would be if they still had voices during the private conversations, like they had in the japanese version. It's a small detraction in an otherwise awesome game.
Hexatona's ToS post above is spot on. Good game man, good game.
Games I completed for 2010
PS3-
Red Dead Redemption
God of War III
Uncharted 2
3D Dot Game Heroes
Sega Genesis-
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Not too many classic games completed this year. I was enjoying some of the classic Sonic titles before the launch of Sonic 4. I competed Sonic 1 not too long ago prior to 2010, thus didn't feel like playing through it this year - I had my play-through.

I'm just rollin' through here.
Just finished Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. Fun action game. The difficulty of the tank battles ramped up at a nice pace as long as you didn't try to grind things, and the alchemy mechanic kept you from massive high level ammo early on. Tank battles made the game great fun, and about halfway through the game I came up with a few stretegies that made me unbeatable to computer opponents - which was handy, because halway through the battles with the last boss and bonus boss, I needed them.
It's totally a game I'll pick up again and again just to play some tank masters. I wish kentona had the game too, so we could battle ^_^.

I beat Trine recently, I hated the last level. It has neat gimmick mechanics but the core platforming is very unbalanced and wonky.

Heh, I purchased the game during its February $9.99 sale, glad I didn't pay more considering the game isn't very appealing.
post=145386I almost bought it one time, but then I purchased Disgaea.

BAM! POW! MINT! WOLLOP!
Finished Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core last night. Man, fuck you, Shinra. That was just too sad. I don't care if I knew it was going to happen, it was still incredibly depressing.
From a game standpoint, you can tell this is purely a fan wank game. It is virtually required that you already have a vested interest in all these characters. But, that's just assumed, really. Had they made the exact same game with different names and kept everything else, the reviews would be like this:
"Curiously well produced rpg with high production value and tight combat is wasted on sparse story and hundreds of boring, identical missions."
I quickly got tired of the side missions, especially once I settled on an optimum setup for my equips and materia. Also, all this LOVELESS stuff got old. I really was just a lot more interested in the inner workings of shinra, and interactions with people. Zack's a pretty likable guy, which carries the game a lot.
Overall, I enjoyed the game, but it will be a long time before I feel like starting a new game+

That and the whole "gift of the goddess" got old and on my nerves pretty fast. Especially since Genesis just keep making stuff up as he went along about what it was. Something I forgot > Angeal > Jenova > Apples?

Then they had the gall to show you some werid glowing orb which genesis calls the gift of the goddess, and when zack is like "uhh, what?" he basically says that being confused about the gift is part of the gift or something.
then later, it's eating apples with your buds, but it ISN'T at the same time.
So lame.
The shitty thing is that Genesis' whole character arc ends with a cliffhanger (Dirge of Cerberus) and Square has yet to address it since.
at all
at all
maybe someone realized it was stupid and nobody liked genesis anyway - but still for the few people who did seem to enjoy his presence, cliffhangers suck.
