I iused to hang out with a black fella when I was younger. We both thought that the race thing was ridiculous,
and being from Alabama, we used it to great hilarity. We'd go into stores, and I'd call him my nigger, and boy. Not my nigger, as in homie, but my nigger, as in slave. The look on some of the faces was priceless. We would just crack up, man.

Same here. I want to listen to a constructed story, not some dramatic bull crap involving real people.
Oh yeah and... Geodude has a point.
My only problem with Obama was that he was heralded as the fucking second coming literally before he did ANYTHING. I personally do not think we should award the Nobel peace prize to someone essentially just for "becoming President while black"...basically for the same reason I don't think we should arrest anyone essentially just for "driving down the street while black".
His actual performance has been...meh? Disappointing but understandably so as I think Yeaster pointed out on page one. So far I feel Obama has been far too centrist...for all he gets called a socialist, the guy is far more a non-ideological politician than a radical liberal, at least it seems that way to me. I do not follow the news very well-- too depressing-- so I am not a great person to judge. (I am not a democrat or a socialist, by the way.)
As for the backlash I am unsurprised by it! It is an ugly truth but there is a very significant portion of this country's population that is just not going to be cool with a black president. We are nowhere near as progressive as we like to think.

This is why I like a book called the Poisonwood Bible. It went over the election of a congonese president in Africa, and in order to keep peace in the region, before anyone was elected they had to make sure nearly 100% of the people voted for a particular dude.
But the thing is, here in America you can win presidency with only a 51%, because that counts as the majority. But, this still doesn't stop the fact that at least half of the united states isn't on good terms with him. So, of course you are going to see flak for things he has done. Our political system allows for that.
If someone like Obama won with about 75% acceptance, then yeah, things would be different. But in the end, he won with something like a 55%, so that's almost half. And half's not good.
(Okay, I know why it had to be 100% in the Congo, it had to do with a coup, or riots and what-not. Our form of it here in the states is political discouragement, polls, peoples opinions and the Media. It's still not deadly, but it's still not encouraging to say the least).
