OBAMA HATE TRENDS

Gee Golly Jeepers, I might not hate the fact that Obama has a half man, half dog as a "lawyer guy" or anything(Seriously, who the hell are you talking about); but what happened to that whole "changing the game" schtick we heard so much about?
I think we have discovered that it is not only the game that requires changing, but the players.

Best. Post. Ever. (in this thread).
Venezuela is a prime example of what a system like that can do to a country, although that's probably less because they're socialist and more because their leader is a friggin' idiot.
Hugo Chavez is a friggin' idiot? Before he came along, the country was in the hands of the wealthy and poverty was a massive problem. You know what he did? He wrote a new constitution with his constituents. This constitution contained within a greater spread of wealth to help the poverty stricken country, to make the rich finally pay for all the harm they had done.
And then a coup was staged by the wealthy, and we now have documents that actually link the CIA to being behind this coup. Within a matter of days, the coup was over, and Chavez was reinstated as the President. The people were behind him, and the people stood up for him, because he had brought them essentials. He had begun the process of bringing them out of poverty. They now have public systems that we have long taken for granted. Education, healthcare, that sort of thing. Essentials we take for granted that those people had never known before.
Oh, did I mention this new constitution was voted on by the people of Venezuela? And it was passed by a landslide majority before being instated officially?
"Socialism" can be a bad thing. But that doesn't mean it is. Venezuela is a prime example of how Socialism can be a good thing, and how it can save the people from poverty, and oppression of the rich. Furthermore, if Chavez is a socialist, then if not anything else, he is a prime representation of a free-socialist, a democratic socialist. He went on a campaign around Venezuela to make sure that his people were aware of all the new rights they had received from the new constitution. Which by the way, was a lot more rights then what was given in the previous constitution. The poor are equals now, especially and most notably in the ballot box.
That man is a freaking hero, and will go down as such in history. Not an idiot. No sir, not an idiot. Not by a long shot.

it annoys me that the words SOCIALISM and COMMUNISM are bandied about as effigies of the bogey man

socialism fuck yeah.
and what americans seem to hate so much is actually neither socialism nor communism- it's a lot closer to bolshevism, with a nice side helping of dictatorship because everyone in charge of the bolshevik movement was fucking crazy.
i wish americans would learn what the fuck these political statutes/movements/systems they despise so much actually entail.
I was watching a particular comedy news show the other day, and as usual the host was reaming on a certain fictitious news program. The Fictitious News had some female anchor talking about "Czars."
"What is with all these Czars? Now, I wasn't sure, so I looked it up online. It turns out, the word 'Czar' is another word for King. Why are we suddenly having all these Kings? What kind of power do they have over us, are they being given land? ..."
Which was very silly, because A)Czars have been around for a while, B)They were either brought in by Nixon or Reagan (I forget) and C)This person graduated at a prestigious British University and isn't a complete Moron.

Yeah, I remember that video. It was some sort of tea party or something? And people were spouting off some of the most incredibly ignorant things.

The thing that absolutely kills me is that America already has selective socialism. Fire departments, police, public schools... Can you imagine what would happen if you had to choose "Fire Department companies"? Pick a company out of the "Police Industry"?
What about the banks and airline industries that have gotten bailouts? Giant sacks of unaccounted for money. This seems pretty fucking socialistic to me.
But the moment it comes to helping poor people and those who need it with getting health coverage, holy fucking shit we can't do that because it's a combination of the Third Reich, Super Marxism, and Satan's sperm. Why should health care be any fucking different? Best to spend $8,000 per citizen on a fucking middle man that does nothing. Yay free fucking market economy.

nicely said, sir. nicely said.
so is amerika getting free health care or something? ive been out of the loop since 2001 someone fill me in as i finish cutting beaver skins.
post=126201Sure, he helped balance the economy, but what about his views on power? The fact that businesses can only have power on at certain times of the day, I mean, what does that do to your business? Also, he didn't invest in repairing the water system of Venezuela, basically letting it deteriorate. Venezuela runs on hydropower. Make the connection.
That man is a freaking hero, and will go down as such in history. Not an idiot. No sir, not an idiot. Not by a long shot.
I guess I threw the word idiot around like I shouldn't, but I still stand by the fact that he's not exactly fit to lead.
Also, the reasons why many people oppose the health care plan are as follows:
1. The plan offers government funded health care, which would be free, of course. Businesses will see this and revoke the current health care plan in favor of one that doesn't cost anything, because businesses are all about making as big a profit as possible. (Not saying that's a bad thing.)
2. What about these jackasses living on welfare, ten kids, not working? Free health care, so that doesn't increase incentive to, you know, work.

1 doesn't mean it's going to be good. Government programs aren't the best, but they are available to everybody, which is what's very important here. The more important reason though is that the government gets to play the competitor, and force health insurance industries to be competitive with each other.
I also hope you see the irony of "business making a big a profit as possible" when it comes to dealing with the health insurance companies.
2 is another bullshit argument that borderlines punditry, but I've been hearing republicans spew this talking point and nobody is rebutting it. First off, a handful of people game the system, so we have to fuck everybody else? That's very cut-off-the-nose to spite the face.
Secondly, not everyone thinks "Free shit?! Gimme!" Believe it or not, people generally don't like being unemployed, especially if you have a family and are trying to support them. There's no quality of life living on food stamps and being barely able to provide for your kids.
Are people going to work the system? Yes of course. That's just human nature. But when has that ever stopped anything? Bernie Madoff gamed over fifty-five billion dollars from countless people, but nobody has said "Well, we can't do that ever again, fuck you wall street you're shut down!"

plz stop generalizing about americans?
Pick a company out of the "Police Industry"?
There's a lot of good (soft/sociological) science fiction about this very speculation. And in the real world we're already privatizing the military to a terrifying degree (fucking Blackwater).
But basically I agree with everything McDohl has been saying.

only when americans stop generalizing political systems they don't understand. :)
I think everyone should drink a latte and spend one post each talking about why life is awesome.
I'll start.
Life is awesome because my wife is my best friend.
