U.S. student dares women to bust out for 'Boobquake'
http://www.canada.com/news/story.html?id=2939336
Are you going to participate in - or at least spread the word about - Boobquake?
Ludicrous superstitious quasi-scientific religious statements really gets my goat and any event that draws attention to how ridiculous some of these claims are are great. On Monday, April 26 you (if you are a female) or any females you know ought to participate. Or at least spread the word (because that's the important part).
Also, any predictions on where the quake will occur on Monday?
EDIT: this movement is taking off like wildfire. Maybe it'll fizzle (probably) or maybe we'll have another FSM type movement! Time will tell.

An Islamic cleric's suggestion that immodestly dressed women cause earthquakes has drawn thousands to join an American student's busty bid to shake up the world â€" by revealing cleavage.
Jen McCreight is the creator of Boobquake, an event scheduled for Monday, which has already garnered the support of more than 40,000 people on Facebook.

“Time for a Boobquake,†Jen McCreight wrote on her blog, Blag Hag. “On Monday, April 26, I will wear the most cleavage-showing shirt I own. ... I encourage other female skeptics to join me and embrace the supposed supernatural power of their breasts. Or short shorts, if that's your preferred form of immodesty.â€

This amuses me greatly.
EDIT: There's no content here because I disagree with none of those points. I am all for calling out ludicrous quasi-scientific statements, and I am all for hundreds of thousands of immodestly-dressed women.

Also, it would be cooler if they all went to Muslim countries to do this, but...
(also there are earthquakes every single day)

This is the best thing ever.
But it would be really fucked up if there was a major earthquake on the day in question.

I read some of her blog and she is aware of this and has been tracking that data as best she can to see if there is an effect.
God damn it. Events like these just make Americans look stupid.
There you go kentona. That's thinking with your boobs!
Yeah it's basically a 'titties for free' day. I see literally no downsides to this. I don't know if I have enough social clout to convince a whole bunch of chicks I know to do this but I'll sure keep my eyes peeled around campus to INSPECT ANY PARTICIPANTS.
the latter. it may be an unusual belief but making mockery of someone's deeply held religious principles is as bad if not worse! not to mention the potential for collateral offense. no-one things about ahmed down the road or mrs. shah who lives on the corner when they do these things. do they deserve to feel targeted over a minority group's extreme attitude?

Hehe. So if we mock someone for believing in a flying spaghetti monster...?
flying spaghetti monster...?
I wouldn't certainly mess with Cthulhu cultists.

Yes?
The majority of Muslims don't believe immodesty leads to earthquakes and likewise they realize irreverence (like this) isn't indicative of bedeviled prostitution running amok and defiling Allah's name oh nooooo
Most moderate human beings won't be offended by this and if you aren't moderate enough to see the humour in this than fuck you. People will deeply held religious beliefs have done centuries worth of damage to the arts and science and if they can't put up with one day of cleavage than that is just too bad for them!
edit: by which I mean that if religious people can stop, oh, say, stem cell research on FAITH BASED GROUNDS then we have an equal right as non-religious people to SHOW BOOBS. I think the scales are still a bit unbalanced maybe
