So I guess you skipped school a lot huh?
i think your final fantasy game negates anything you say, ever.
post=148473post=148444Your right,I mean,my friend told me that the community was a lot nicer on here then on RPG revolution, but from the looks of it,you only respect people that have made a game, which isn't cool.
I have no idea why im part of this site. You're all assholes and its pathetic. Just thought I'd let you all in on that thought.
no, i am pretty sure the rpg revolution site is more friendly. people here on rmn are very critical, because rpgmaker is serious business. like, the site itself is very cool, but the community is really hard to get into.
i hope aten didn't offend you too much, dude, he's awful, and has made really bad games, so yeah. asking for help in a request forum and getting shitted on is ridiculous.
This site doesn't accept Lv.1~20 white mages. They all got pwned from the barrage of physical attacks from the users. You need high HP to survive it. I, myself, got into critical HP situations more than once. However, I have preraise all the time. ;D

I <3 you TFT.
But to the original poster, one of the most important things to do on a new forum is to read the stickies. Reading them certainly won't guarantee that assholes won't be assholes to you, but it helps. While I don't agree with the way everyone reacted to your request, if you would have read this forum's stickies you would have found out that we have a "Google Rule." Basically, Google your request before posting, because more often than not, you'll get what you need (especially when it is resources-related).
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. Shame this is the welcoming you received.

edit: ad hominem
edit2: in which way is this an acceptable request that anyone should take seriously?

We'd all be glad to help a guy in need of help assuming he didn't fail his English classes (excepting non-native speakers/disabled people), didn't sound like he was an arrogant moron by saying that spaces after commas were "un needed" and that grammar could go to hell, and actually helped himself first by using Google.
tl;dr: He called the shitstorm on himself.
post=148509I did google, but what I found was either not what I was looking for,or crappy as hell, and sorry for being new to this, you can't expect everyone to just know how things work, and who says I'm not native or disabled, for all you know I could be mentalasking for help in a request forum and getting shitted on is ridiculous.

The comma thing I don't really care about, that's your quirk. But man, your sentences run on like crazy. Please don't do that in your game dialogue.
post=148516lolz,I know they, your not the first one to say that :P but in scripts and stuff,I am very careful to have that in the latest grammar, aka spaces after commas, periods, ect. ect.,I am not new to dialog,I have written 3 of my schools plays,so I a sure that dialog is no problem ^-^ (in very good mood right now...but why I do not know, but now that I have read all the stickies,I hope that I don't get bashed anymore.)

What were they about
I did google, but what I found was either not what I was looking for,or crappy as hell,The fact you did not mention you undertook such actions means that, as far as we're concerned, you didn't go off looking by yourself first. We aren't going to assume anything, especially in a support topic.
and sorry for being new to this, you can't expect everyone to just know how things work,A good part of this is basic social etiquette. Things like helping yourself before asking for help and communicating in a way that is not annoying and easy to understand is something you're expected to know and understand.
and who says I'm not native or disabled, for all you know I could be mental"Mental"? In this context, I have no clue what you meant by that.
For the record, I approach anyone I've never met before with the assumption that they are people with abilities expected of a normal, standard human with an education. You haven't said otherwise, so I presumed you to be as such.

Writing in a proper, comprehensible manner goes a long way to improving your image (and in this case, repairing it). As a side-effect, it gives us an easier time reading what you have to say as well.

What were they about
1.basic fantasy thing, 3 knights must slay a beast
2.remake of willy wonka and the chocolate factory
3.not really a school play, but an assignment I helped my friend Andrew with, it was a horror movie, which I had a lot of fun with ^-^
post=148524Well, it I am still used to a comma without a space. And my sentences generally "drag on" but I suppose I will change that. (rather change a little quirk then be ridiculed.)

you don't really get the point, dude. if it was someone like legacy or neok people would be like HELL YEAH ILL HELP! but no, it's just some random user asking for help(so it's okay if we just trash him/her). you know, when i first joined the rpgmaker community i think i probably asked for a few things too, but hey, back then people weren't dickheads.
It is a big deal because it happens to evetybody and kills possible future great makers in the bat...
It's plain rude. So... Well, yeah, It's very wrong, in adittion to dropping charsets, the right thing to do would be to try to change this behaviour. But then again, who am I to be saying that?
(Sorry if I sound rude, BTW, couldn't find less rude words, sorry... I hate to sound rude.)

If either of those people said "i need chipsets, someone make them, for me please,i need them badly, pm me and i will, tell you the chipsets,i need" then most people would still laugh at their request. They'd assume it was a joke, but they'd still laugh it off. I'm pretty sure anyone who has been in the community more than ten minutes can figure out how to put together a decent post. Lots of new users who make good posts (with details of what they want, not just some vague sweep of the hand in the direction of chipsets) and they aren't ridiculed away, so what exactly is your point? That this and other FUCK AWFUL topics are responded to with primarily negative posts?
People survive in the community not because of their RPGMAKING CHOPS but because they can put together two sentences and not come off as a total incompetent. It takes such a tiny amount of effort to put together a better thread than this. Why should we both if the original poster isn't going to, like, at all?
As established community members, it's expected that you won't be a complete and total asshat to new users, even if they don't quite get it. While it doesn't excuse new users from taking the necessary action to read stickies, rules, etc. to become well acquainted with the way things are run around RMN, being mean and ridiculing people isn't proper either. For a community composed largely of adults, it often comes off like you're twelve year-old kids because of the way you treat new users, and even yourselves, for that matter. It is not hard at all to simply say, "Hey, you should probably go read the stickies."
Ultimately, I understand why you guys may be a little irritated or miffed, because a new user forgot to read stickies and isn't using proper grammar, but you don't have to be complete dicks to try and get your point across.
