Soli: It's the classic "bad, HOWEVER, (insert rest of the article here)" setup. It does a pretty good job of establishing the transition most of us (I'd be willing to say) went through ourselves to get us where we are now. We all found and became part of the community after running through the findings he mentions in the first paragraph. Then, like the article says, those of us that got through it use it for our own creative purposes.
After that, he pretty much lets his interviewees run with the ball, and establishes the main motivating factors for what we do: nostalgia is just one of them (blame Kenton); he also goes over money, and the desire for power...er, sharing.

The implication is there, but my use of the word "blame" was entirely ironical =) Whether or not someone actually blames you for anything is their own prerogative, but my personal opinion on the article is that you did a fine job, sir.
