WHAT WHITE/BLACK/ASIAN/HISPANIC PEOPLE REALLY LIKE.
Posts
This article mostly tells me what I've already known from 23 years of observation and traveling; people are generally similar in core values, but when it comes to culture, people can be totally different. I enjoy reading about cultural differences, and it's always a fun read to see them observed.
I will let the article speak for itself mostly here. Enjoy and discuss!
edit: also you can click on the gentleman/lady symbols to get different gender results
i just found this out because i am stupid

These are big questions, and here's how we answered them.
We selected 526,000 OkCupid users at random and divided them into groups by their (self-stated) race. We then took all these people's profile essays (280 million words in total!) and isolated the words and phrases that made each racial group's essays statistically distinct from the others'.
For instance, it turns out that all kinds of people list sushi as one of their favorite foods. But Asians are the only group who also list sashimi; it's a racial outlier. Similarly, as we shall see, black people are 20 times more likely than everyone else to mention soul food, whereas no foods are distinct for white people, unless you count diet coke.
"i am cool" made my day
White men were the only sci-fi nerds with Heinlein and h2g2...
It's interesting how they all fulfill their stereotypes.

its an interesting article but i dont see much to discuss

Food is a regional thing, not a racial thing.
Fun fact you can tell what part of the world someone is from by what they put on their french fries.
For example I put white vinegar and pepper.

Yes, and different regions have different cultures, different races, therefore different culinary preferences. There's nothing inherent about what food you like, but to say that more black people like 'soul food' than white people because of cultural differences? Sounds about right.

Yes well people still like to tout that everyone is exactly the same in every single way and cultures aren't different at all nonsense.

I'm a country boy?
what kind of redneck white hick bastards did they run this criteria off of?
They mentioned that a grand majority of the people they surveyed lived in major cities.
All of that is fine, but OKCupid, the site which they used to gather this data, is strictly American, and as an American, I can say that the cultural disparity, at least with food, isn't the same as over there. At least in my experience, culture, race, location, and all that tend to be one in the same, or at least similar enough.
I mean if nothing else the data seems to be speaking for itself, here. The article isn't a serious of opinions, its raw, hard data that they gathered.

I literally like none of the things on any of those lists.
edit: wait, not true, I do like three or four of the things that appear in the smallest text. Also, y'all realise these are the things people tell other people they like the most, right?
p.s. I actually strongly, strongly dislike pretty much everything on the white person list so once again thanks for being a horrible racist Mog

Literally none of them? Even some of the basic shit stated like 'computer games' or 'reading' or 'surfing the net'?
Read my edit, quickdraw
big ol' edit: I am going to take this time to point out how frequently you make racial observations (not a bad thing) Mog but how you seem to be missing the fact that the way the US views racial differences and the way the rest of the civilized world views racial differences is completely different. Congrats on having such an insular world view
edit2: seriously the US is like 60 years behind the rest of the civilized world, and it is compounded by the fact that Americans LOVE homogenizing themselves into groups (especially outside of cities) and then hating on groups that are different than they are. It's a pretty interesting phenomenon. Come and live in Toronto for a few years and act like a normal human being and if anyone under the age of forty treats you more than slightly differently because you're black I will be shocked
