THE DUMBEST IDEA YOU EVER TRIED TO MAKE
Posts
Probably my must dumb idea has been to create an entire game based on the Gummi Ship system from Kingdom Hearts. It clearly didn't turn out too well, and got scrapped rather soon after I started.
Another one that was dumb for being stupidly ambitious was to create an RMVX game that had a small world to begin with, and then I would continually update it with extra content using the RMVX Patcher script. If there had been an ATB I liked then I may have carried it on.

Ah, I nearly forgot, but another dumb idea of mine was starting a remake of the original Legend of Zelda. Sure it's doable, but ripping graphics and all else just for a carbon-copy of an easily accessible rom seemed like a waste. Unfortunately, at the point that I quit, I had worked on and off on it for about a year and a half.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Are ambitious one-man projects really that bad an idea? Or even a remotely bad idea? They seem like the only decent idea, to me. I can never stand having to wait on or depend on other people. The only way I've ever accepted help from other people (and not strongly regretted it or quickly fired them) is if there are finished resources available for the taking.
the shopkeeper for an item shop was a pedo-clown. And I was going to plan on making him a hidden boss, too.
an entire game based on the Gummi Ship system from Kingdom Hearts
Power rangers game. ;DThese are amazing. If ambitious one-man projects are considered bad, then you three guys need to get together as a team and combine these three ideas into one game.
I'm scared. You think my pedo-clown was a good idea? I don't really know what to say...I'll just take a step backwards, and see what happens.
Lockez: I think the whole "one man ambitious project" people regret are the super epic games that collapse under their own weight / are never completed as opposed to anything wrong with the idea. There's games that were solo project that were huge, completed, and created an impact but those are far and few between because of how difficult it is to make a big project much less by yourself.

Yeah, I can see that. It's only a good idea if you can finish it. Otherwise it's just like any other failed game, except you wasted ten times as long on it.
I did mention I spend all my time thinking up awful ideas, right? Awful ideas are the best ideas.

My dumbest idea ever? I'm still working on it Believe it or not, I actually did something dumber than starting a series whose name alone is enough to drive people off.
I once turned the first Pokémon Hunter into a Mario Party-style video board game. It was kinda neat, but also kinda horrible. I never released it. At least it only took a week to waste time on!

To be honest LockeZ, you ruined that combo-idea when you decided Power Rangers should be a part of it :P
In anycase, the reason for the Gummi Shi[ based game being dumb was 'cause I started it when I had only just started in game creation, new feck all about coding and were using Game Maker. It was doomed to fail. Plus it was essentially going to end up as a basic shmup that was based in the KH universe.

Take Down: Dawn of Void
I was going to make a sequel to Take Down Legacy a la KH: Chains of Memories.
You would have taken control of this knight from the original Take Down game (pre-internet) and inexplicably have to rely on cards to battle other characters while unravelling the mystery The Void.
The stupid part (aside being a Take Down game) was how much work the card system turned out to be.

post=202335post=202334That's not a dumb idea. One person could probably accomplish a lot.
Making an ambitious product when you're a one man army.
I second this. It also helps to lack common sense and self preservation while working on your project. And then there's ZUN.
My dumbest idea? Tetsumori actually came from somewhere. She was originally going to be a boss to fight Bomberman in a fangame I wrote in JAVA in 2005, she was also younger than the latest version. The stages took place in a most innovative way at a metal scrapyard. I personally still think that is awesome, but it was full of so many Bomberman cliches and WTF magnets (not to mention the other pile of cliches of it being a fox girl). I decided to create an inverse cliche feedback loop to turn the cliche on its head to make something weird and different out of it.
Could probably still end up being a really dumb idea, but I don't really care since I'm more worried about gameplay.

And is it just me, or are you being sarcastic?
And note the simplicity in the overall idea of his games even though they've turned into a huge project.

It says "ambitious" project. Not "look at my big open spaces and 5 minute plot" project. One person can make an ambitious project but it'll take 4 years longer than a team of people.
