Dragon Quest 8? Also, if you use the d-pad in DQ9, you can (but not with the stylus).

Speed is based on weapons. Don't put a giant axe or hammer on your healer (knives are the fastest, I think).

That would explain things, my two characters at that time had an Axe and Shuriken, no wonder there was a gap between heals that the Knight (Can't... remember... name...) could die in.

It's a bit complicated how turn order is handled actually. Every ability and enemy has a speed that you can't see in game (the guide lists them all)

The turn order is determined based on what everyone's current action value is, from highest to lowest.

For your characters: Action Value = character's level + (current HP / max HP x100) + (remaining AP x 10) + Ability Speed
For Enemies with one action per turn: Action value = Level + (current HP / max HP x100) + Ability Speed

For Enemies with multiple actions per turn, for each subsequent action after the first one you subtract their 'weight' (another invisible stat) from the previous total.

Then you have abilities like Restrain and March which affect these values as well, and the Hermes Sandals and Old Shoes completely ignore it.

Ability speeds for enemies are quite variable, Typically in the 25-100 range <_< with a few enemies outside of that.

Speeds for character abilities and spells seem to all be between 5 and 100, usually either 15 or below, or 100.
That formula is actually rather... easy to figure out, don't see how the poster thinks that's complicated.

It's rather neat too, as being weaker (Lower health) would effect your acting speed. Hell, it makes having one person the healer a pain if they keep getting knocked to low health, but that's why I carry cure spells on more than one character at any time.

In anycase, is there a quick way to beat the first boss after switching to the Princess? I did beat it but it came down to a good amount of luck with the Fire Daggers confusion effect and Healthgiver. Hearing the low HP music was an awesome moment.

Which one is that? There are a lot of bosses in the game, so...
The pirate boss, first one you have to fight after you switch to control of the Princess. I'm pretty sure there's a quicker way than hitting 7-10 points a round of damage while spamming healing with the white mage.

I still don't remember that fight other than that it happened, but I've only used the White Mage crown for about two battles on Yunita.

Have you sequence-broke to Uberith? That can help a lot.
Didnt you have Jusqua in your party?
Yes I had Princess and Jusqua, it still took me a good 20 or so minutes of constant attacking and healing, I was only level 8/9 at the time though so that might have something to do with it,
yeah, so was I. i died the first time, cuz i messed up. the second time, it seemed easier somehow.
i had jusqua as a black mage and aire as a white mage; neither one had any enhancements.

aside from the point, it irritates me how you only get like 1 or 2 crowns after defeating a certain boss. i think my fav crown right now is the Merchant cuz i get gems so much more easily now. and its fun to sell my own stuff. i stupidly tried selling an Ether for 5000g, and no one bought it. (No duh)

Xearoth, you get two after every major boss. The only time you get a single crown is when you get the Wayfarer crown after the encounter with the witch in the first dungeon.

Please explain to me why getting only two crowns after bosses is a poor design decision. You attempt to create games, do you not? Please let me into to your design secrets and defend your statement.
Im not saying its horrible, it just feels a little spread out is all. no need to get defensive....

I'm trying to help you. Does it really irritate you? Why? How could that irritation be alleviated? Do you think that would be a better design decision? How? Why do you think the developers didn't do it that way? Was the way it was implemented the best choice?
Kinda; I feel its spread out; It cant, the games finished.

Whats with all the questions? Im not, nor was I saying, that its the worst game design in the history of the FF series. All i said was that it feels spread out due to the original games and what Im normally used to. It is a little irritating, but ill get over it. And anyone who feels the same (im sure theres someone else out there somewhere) will too.

You're no fun. :<
Well, if you were trying to joke around, sorry, but i cant tell through typing. Kinda hard..... :P

Ok, back to the point of the topic, how far have you actually made it in the game?
Reading the latest issue of Game Informer, this game got a 6/10, which by their standards is not very good. While I know this sort of game appeals to a lot of the RMN community, being a classic RPG meant to evoke nostalgia, I felt like the reviewer was pretty biased about the whole thing.

Off the top of my head, I remember the reviewer saying the job system sucked, the limited inventory was stupid, and that the storyline was generic. Thoughts?

EDIT: I am actually interested in this game, mainly because it has the Craze Seal of Approval (although that could mean anything).

I actually don't think that I've seen this specific story in any game (Rolan is pretty cool!), the job system is <3333, the limited inventory hasn't been a problem for me unless I was stupid, and it's just plain fun.

Craze Seal of Approval goes to fun, cute games, or games with hot dudes, or games with amazing job systems. (FFX-2 is my favorite game because it embodies all three of these aspects.)
I thought FFX-2 was all chicks?
