TORRENTS: DO YOU?

First of all, let me state this: The use of torrents is completely legal, using them to download pirated movies, software, etc is not. Watch what you say in this thread, it is not here for discussion of illegal downloading

there, I feel that I have idiot-proofed this topic

Now, my question is this: Do you use torrents? If so:
+What program do you use
+What kind of download speeds do you get
+Do you usually leave torrents to seed afterwards?
+Wha torrents site do you usually go to in order to find your torrents?

I personally enjoy the use of torrents, it is the easiest way to find what I want to download. I use Utorrent, and my download speeds obviously depend on number of seeders anjd leechers. On good torrents I usually get anywhere from between 80-140kb/s, where as on bad ones, I can sit at a horrible 8-25 kb/s. However, on relly good torrents, I have gotten over 500 kb/s, so as I said, HUGELY depends on seeders and leechers. I don't usually leave my torrents to seed, and I feel like a jerk for not doing it, but our internet is bad enough, so they would slow down everything I do while it was open. And finally, the site I usually use to find my torrents is torrentz.com, or google.

I don't use torrents, although iishenron tries to get me to download episodes of Hard Gay. The reason? When I download something, it's either an RM* game, a resource for an RM* game, or an amusing picture. Nothing exactly torrent-worthy.

*Craze still qualifies as a nerd, however. He uses an FTP client on a personal and regular basis!
Yeah, I torrent.

I use Bittorrent and usually get up to about 30k/s. I'd like to let things seed and some I do, but more often than not there's something else I want to get that will slow considerably if I do, so...

I google. Go the Google! And there are a few sites... that are gonna be left unsaid.
woah, only 30kb/s, you might want to check and make sure everything is set up right. I was gonna write a quick tutorial to check if it is set up properly, but I don't use bittorrent, so I couldnt say.
It's most likely my computer. It's quite a few years old now.

Hardgay is rad, man.
Bit torrent is the only way to feed the anime child inside me, and he's utterly obese! I use Azureus, I usually get around 50k/s
I use BitTornado for my bittorrent needs, it was the first I ever used and it hasn't really disappointed ever. The interface is simple without any useless buttons and all the information is there clear to see. I love it.

My download speeds vary greatly. On decently seeded places with plenty of connections everywhere I tend to get up to 200kb/s.

I rarely leave my torrents open to seed. Usually it's because I download well-populated open stuff that don't really need seeds and also because the computer I mostly download on grinds to a halt when I have torrents open and in order to be able to do anything on it I must close down the clients. I do tend to leave some torrents open when I leave the house occasionally though, getting the ratio up and nice.

As far as sites go I tend to go to mininova and pirate bay. If I can't find it there I tend to google around and ask buddies. I also use bittorrent whenever possible to download most other things. For example on the site Jamendo they provide most of their downloads with a torrent alternative. I tend to use that.
I use Azureus, though I've been thinking of switching to uTorrent. For the most part I only use it for anime, but any time I can find a torrent for a large file (say, over 50 MB) I need, I'll use it. Like an Ubuntu distro, for example.

In slightly tangential news, it really ticks me off that Microsoft hasn't provided torrents for their new Dreamspark stuff.
My girlfriend torrented the Desperate Housewives computer game the other day.
I rarely use torrent, and when I do, I just use Opera's built in torrent.

I live in the past anyway. Everything you can torrent is new and scary to me.

Same here.
I get most of my TV via torrents since I'm usually busy whenever any shows I want to watch are on, get frequently interrupted whenever I try to watch actual TV, or what I want to watch isn't on TV. Plus I love being able to pause TV for things like bathroom breaks :P

I also download some games to give them a spin and see if they're worth buying or to get a copy of the disk of a game I own on my harddrive since my CD-ROM doesn't work anymore and I'm not interested in replacing it.

I've gone through a few Bittorrent clients, I started with the default client before changing to Azerus, then Bitcomet, and now I use uTorrent and I don't see any reason to change clients right now. My speeds vary greatly depending on what I'm downloading and how big of a bitch my wireless network is being, but I generally don't care as long as the download gets done in a few days. And I always seed up to 1:1, usually higher in the 1:1.2-1.5 range. Especially when the site I usually get my TV from pays attention to your ratio and prevents you from starting new downloads without sufficient uploading. Or if a particular file is rare and it took forever to get, I tend to seed for a while and I've hit ratios of 1:20 before.
Yep, i like to use torrents to download my anime, since i never get to watch them when they come on tv. :P

I always try to check to see if there is a torrent available when I am looking for something. For good torrents and such, I've hit around 400kb/sec.

On the flipside, however, is that I have Vonage and my phone becomes nigh unusable when I am torrenting.
My torrents depend on the network connection in the building and the torrent. It's between 1k/s and 2M/s. I download Poirot quite a bit. It's not on basic cable here.
lol, wow, 2m/s, thats SO fast. Unbelievable.

I currently use Azureus, however, their new version is "Azureus Vuze" which looks like shit. I might end up switching over to uTorrent.
I pretty much download everything from games to tv shows, and especially subbed anime. I can get 1mb/s on good torrents. Yar what can I say? I be a pirate sailing the seven seeds.
I torrent occassionally but since stealing is not only unethical but is destructive to the future of whatever it is I want to steal I try to resist the urge. I usually restrict torrenting to downloading things I might be somewhat interested in but would never buy.

Fun fact though: many artists I have discovered through piracy and went on to purchase future albums. I would never have bought their later albums had I not pirated their early material. However I do not think this has a net positive effect on the industry or that it legitimizes piracy.
